First recipe post so bare with me
First, the recipe
Cactus (irw) 1.25% edited from 1.5
Fuji (fa) 2.5%
Lime tahity cold pressed (fa) 1%
Bavarian cream (tpa) 4%
Steep time: few days. At 4 days the cream shines
Variations
Drop the cream and add dragonfruit at 2% and the bite is stronger. Another great version of this. I prefer my cream tho :)
Recipe notes
Cactus and Fuji
This gives us the main flavor. Its got bite, sweets and a touch of sour. These 2 work great together. Its unfamiliar and deep. Hard to really wrap your head around even as the main flavor profile. I'm bad at this part.
Lime tahity cp
This adds to the sour and gives a citrus boost to cactus. I think this helps get rid of the apple flavor so its not so noticeable as apple. It really breaks the flavor profile apart to add to the mystery of what you taste.
Bavarian cream
My grandmothers calimpples always were served with cream /s and this gives a light cream finish to the juice. I find it helps to keep the bite from the sourness down so its not so puckering. Needed to be a light cream to not blast thro (ny cheesecake became overpowering)
So there it is. Its different yet yummy. Been vaping it all week and really enjoying it as a new adv rotation.
Any suggests are great. Always down to adapt it farther if any of you high end mixers have ideas. Hope you enjoy :)
Cactus, Fuji, and Lime seem made for each other. What is the longest you have let this steep though? I've had problems with that Cold-Pressed Lime seeming to do different things during the steeping process, like coming on too strong to begin with, being just right after a few days, and taking over again after a week or two.
/u/philosaphucker remember your Tahitian Apple shake and vape recipe?
It does play around. Longest was about a week and it didn't over do it then. I'll make a fresh bottle tonight and Let it go a week then 2 and see
Sounds like a great plan, please let me know how it turns out
Ok 1 week in. Limes back but not crazy. Kinda like how it is as a shake and vape but Bavarian creams not as in yo face. Still yummy. Working on a new version as well. Trying to find the right cream. It'll end up being a 6 month work in progress juice lol
Oh I remember. The Bavarian Cream might be a relevant difference here. I will go ahead and give this a shake tonight.
Wow, that was nearly an entire year ago. So many bottles shaken since then. So many flavors ordered. So many new "internet juice friends" for me to get griped at for "wasting time" talking to.
Initial thoughts (3 days in): I made 30ml. I have about 12ml left. I try to stay away, but I am struggling. I am doubtful that this will last a week. Hold me. As delicious as I find this, there are all sorts of tweaks that may be made to improve. First, the cactus could probably drop to 1 or 1.25%. In cactus terms, this is a decently sized reduction. I love it where it is, but reducing it a bit can help that delicious FA Fuji shine more. Another potential tweak involves sinking a bit of coconut into that cream as is done here. Halving those coconut percentages would do nicely, I feel. Yet another variant I am considering involves choosing FLV Cream instead of TFA Bavarian for a cleaner tasting cream profile that brings more sweetness than spice. I will be back to you with more thoughts on this later as it ages.
Thanks so much. I've been playing with it too. Just trying random swaps. For one no custards. Cap van custard v1 drowns it out. Was thinking about fa custard next as its not the traditional custard, and is very light. Any thoughts on that one? Second in line then in la banana cream since the say in the description of cactus how it goes with banana but I think that may blur the flavor profile by adding one more flavor. Will try lowering cactus with the new renditions.
No problem. This kind of profile is definitely in my wheelhouse. Cactus and LA Banana Cream go great together. Example 1. Example 2. That said, it will transport the recipe into the realm of a different profile. FA Custard is a very good choice I played with that before too. I have yet to try and work Lime Tahity CP into FA Custard, but it sounds interesting. It would definitely require a steep and I recommend starting at at least 2%. It isn't as soft and pillowy as Bavarian cream can be, but a bit of coconut can help with that if you desire.
Looks like I'm ordering coconut. Any you recommend? I'm going to start working on a coquito recipe as well so ill need it. But yea I like custard for its almost frothy cream feel it gets. Think it'll lay better in between flavors. It also has that lemon zest to it so I think lime should lay in nice. Might make one of those and and one with banana. Got think of a name lol
Just made another one at 1.25 cactus. Definitely a noticeable difference. That's the sweet spot.
I was just thinking about this recipe because I have reached the end of the bottle. I love it. Now I am about to sit down and mix one with the cactus at 1.25% and giving FLV Cream a try just to see what happens.
