It's FINALLY feeling like Fall here in OK and that means all the basic white girls are coming out, as is my inner basic white girl who adores all thing pumpkin.
But the king is, and always had been, PUMPKIN PIE.
For my entire life pumpkin pie has been my favorite dessert ever, when I was younger my Grandma would even bake one just for my as my Christmas gift every year.
Of course since I start vaping I have been nothing but let down by pumpkin vape vapes, they either just taste like spice, maybe a spice latte, or you get the custard based ones that just taste like pumpkin spice custard, or just really fucked up ones that taste like either all nutmeg or all cinnamon and nothing else. But never a true pumpkin pie.
Enter DIY, and I knew this would happen. I would make it if it killed me. Luckily I didn't die and now I can have pumpkin pie every fucking day and not become a fat ass.

To break it down, lets start at the base
TFA pie crust
This is one of my favorite pie crusts because of how plain it is. It's just a slightly buttery, pastry style crust. No spice, no real grain to it. Just a light soft crust perfect to be filled with pumpkin
CAP sugar cookie
I don't know how someone could not have this flavor, it fits in so many places it's almost stupid.
It plays multiple roles here, first at the base, giving the crust some softness like would happen on the first layer of it with the pumpkin soaking in slightly, while also providing a bit of sweetness to the plain crust.
Next, it helps to create body to the pumpkin pie filling as well, it's super light and doesn't make it feel so much like a cookie as it does just a baked item. A great start to the body for the filling
RF Pumpkin Pie extract
Hot damn I'm glad I got this. Picked it up on a whim because I have been buying every pumpkin flavor I could, including many lesser known companies stuff. I REALLY enjoy RF offerings for a pumpkin pie. It has body, a very soft, slightly creamed type mouth feel like you'd get from a pumpkin pie.
I don't get any crust from it, but that's no issue since the body is the main thing I was looking for. As far as Spice goes, this leans heavier on the ginger of pumpkin spice, very light cinnamon, and a slightly subtle allspice and nutmeg, so it's not perfect on the spice side of it but as you'll see it's an easy remedy.
JF Dulce de leche So this isn't in pumpkin pie generally, normally you'd use regular condensed milk, however it works great to translate a pumpkin to a vape. It provide a thicker mouth feel to the pie itself, but the sweet, sticky caramel type notes to it really help sweeten the pie filling.
JF Yellow Cake
Fuckin' A I'm so happy with JF Yellow cake.
I LOVE FW yellow cake but I hate how it wrecks coils. This is a light, sweet, yellow cake. Simple and pure. It's used very lightly here purely to give the final touch to the body of the pie, making it baked and not just the filling you'd pour in the crust.
TFA Brown sugar
Not much to say on this, simply the dark sweetness you'd get from a good fall dessert.
FW Pumpkin spice
This is where we finish off the spice. FW Pumpkin spice is a great, well rounded offering for a pumpkin spice. Not perfect, but one of the best I've tried. It hits a very nice balance between the nutmeg and cinnamon, not being to heavy in either direction, with just hint of the allspice. The one area it seems to miss is the ginger, I don't get any from this. If it's there it is so far in the back I get find it. But if you remember, the RF pumpkin pie brings the ginger to the party so have the covered
Optional sweetener
I've had a lot of fuckin' pumpkin pies in my life. I personally prefer the more spice heavy, more subtle sweet pies, but I do enjoy the ones the are heavier on the sugar as well. If you prefer a sweeter pie, a little sweetener will help get you there. I'm good without it, I have friends that one it sweeter so it's your call.
Steep time 7 days
Allows the spices to mingle and calm down and the body of the pie comes out more.
There you guys have it, a basic pumpkin pie. And this is how God intended pumpkin pie to be eaten, no whipped cream, ice cream, or other toppings to get in the way. I'm sure you could play with a VBIC or a whipped cream concentrate to get some topping if you wanted, but why ruin the perfect dessert with that silly stuff?
Sounds incredible! Where do you recommend ordering the JF and RF ingredients?
JF is only on ECX and as far as I know the RF extracts are only available on their website.
They're re-sold by a few vendors, but, for example, on ECX they are known as Northwest VG Flavors. [EDIT: I don't believe you can get the raw extract being used here on ECX though. Perhaps the VG based Pumpkin Pie could be use in a much higher percentage?]
Hey there fellow Okie. The recipe looks great. I'll give it a try myself in a week or so. We do finally have the weather for it!
It's about time we do, the whole 70/80's in November was killing me!
RF as in RealFLavors or as in CAPS RF (Reduced Flashpoint)
Thanks for the notes on Pumpkin Pie Extract, ill bump it to the top of the list for the next round of orders. We are doing a tasting notes thread on ELR for the extracts. Would you be okay with my posting your notes and the link to this thread over there?
Ahhhh Dulce de Leche is something I didn't think of with my pumpkin recipe. Great Idea. I need to try this RF Pumpkin, not a big fan of FW's flavoring.
So far I'm really happy with it. I actually just got HS Pumpkin pie and Natures flavors Pumpkin pie to try. Judging by smell test HS may have promise. Natures flavors smells really heavy on the ginger and allspice, I'm less impressed by the smell.
But in a similar spice profile, NF's carrot cake smells bangin', very excited to dive into that one.
Fellow okie checkin in, have you been to the heartland vapes store? I'm thinking about starting diy and saw some stuff about them in the side bar!
