Great Blackcurrant and icy (not menthol) aromas?
submitted almost 9 years ago by socialbod

Hey guys,

New to DIY, trying to clone something similar to my favorite e-juice - malaysian Bangsawan - Strawberry Blackcurrant.
So far I'm wondering what are some great aromas for

  • Strawberry
  • Blackcurrant (if any?)
  • and what this ice-like thing Malaysian juices use in their aromas? (it's not menthol)
Thank you and thanks for an awesome community!

I've tried it, never owned a bottle though. From what I remember, pararupa suggestions are spot on. Almost certainly those 3 ingredients, very heavy 2-3% on the koolada.

What does nasty juice use for their cooling agent?

Strawberry: you could try Strawberry Ripe (TFA/TPA) this is more real fruity aroma or Sweet Strawberry (CAP) a candy like strawberry aroma

Blackcurrant: try from TFA/TPA

Cooling agent: try koolada (TFA/TPA)

I tried some ejuice not long ago, Funtasia and Soda Lemonade I believe, I forgot the brand name though. I believe they both had koolada in them, in fact, I believe the whole range from this specific brand had koolada in it. But I found that after a few draws at about 50w I had a severe headache, kind of similar to brainfreeze that really put me off it.

If anyone has any experience - would using koolada at a really low % prevent the brainfreeze type feeling? It it actually the koolada doing this?

that's what kind of feeling when I tried secret of the ooze juice for the first time but I kinda like that feel.

a massive amount % of koolada or cooling agent (chiller) can get you a brain freeze. I only use max of 5% in my batch tough my taste buds will prefer at 2-3%.

on hot vapes it is a common the menthol/mint/chiller will pop up more then the other flavor. try to lower your wattage.

If I remember correctly most of the Malaysian juices use Cooling agent 23 which is not koolada.

I have been trying to get it here locally in the UK but so far no dice.

I live here and I have never heard of that cooling agent. What's the difference compared to koolada and menthol?

koolada is ws 3.

Their action are similar from what I have heard, I was supposed to get a sample from a flavor manufacturer but it never materialized, I should actually chase them thanks fro the reminder :)

You can get it from ali baba but I dont really want to go down that route.

Where do you get your supplies from? For cooling agent you get them from Vaper Stuff, The Flavourist. There' another shop in Semenyih too, forgot the name.

Try hiliq.com or look into bakers flavors and order they're ice cold. I just recently ordered cooling effect from hiliq and it's very good and comparable to bakers ice cold. I love it in my Andes Milkshake juice.

Blackcurrant Super Concentrate is really good and strong, you can get it from diy-ejuice.com

I would personally use

  • INW Shisha Strawberry 2%

  • FA Blackcurrant 4%

  • TPA Koolada - Drop per 10ml (Adding till you hit perfection)

I have never tried that flavour, but I can't see the above being that far off.

Wow thanks for that! And sorry, guys, for posting in this sub - will try to not do again, and will post my refined recipe once I try that.
Do you think I need to add some sweeteners here or it will be fine without?

Totally up to you with the sweeteners. I tend to avoid them but that is personal preference. Think on this I think I would also add a touch of Strawberry ripe and dragon fruit.

But you have the base you can work on now :)

It's generically called Cooling Agent in Malaysia. A few vendors are selling it via Facebook. Try asking in the Kaki DIY E-liquid group. I'll hook you up if I see your post.

Thanks! I am EU-based atm, probably will start with something simple and locally-accessible, but if I want to improve I will definitely use that! Thanks!

As for blackcurrant, I've tried FA, TFA, MB and NE, and the only version that hits the mark for me is Molinberry's, but it might be hard to obtain.

I heard INWs version is really really good. You may want to consider that

I'll definitely grab it if I come across it!

It's incredibly strong, even compared to some of their others. It is a nice blackcurrant, but nothing special IMO.
