Setup: Hobo 3.1, regular dual coil (0,4 mm wire, 8 wraps, 2,5 mm diameter) with cotton wicks, 32-37 watts.
Testing: INW Lemon Mix @ 2,5%, 65% VG, steeped 4 days.
Flavor description: Slightly sweetened freshly pressed lemon juice with a hint of grapefruit. Reminds me of the lemon juice you add to coke or water. Fresh, sour, very juicy, slightly bitter and a tad watery. Not sweet but not completely dry in sweetness.
Off flavors: Very harsh and bitter aftertaste when vaping with almost dried out wicks. No off flavors with wet wicks.
Throat hit: 4/10 moderate, rather smooth for a citrus flavoring.
Pairings: Drinks, fruits, candies and other citruses. Excellent lemon/grapefruit base for alcoholic beverages.
Notes: I was impressed with this one when I first tried it, one of the better citrus flavorings I've tried so far. It's fairly similar to FA Lemon Sicily, but lacks pithy note I get from it at over 0,5%, and doesn't have nearly as much of throat hit. Though I haven't messed with this flavoring much yet, mixing it with INW Lemon and a bit of sucralose gave me a promising start for a sour lemon candy recipe. Good mixing range would probably be at 0,5-1,5%; it's pretty strong stuff and likely overpowers more subtle notes in your mix.
(This is my first post to this sub and I'm not used to reddit's formatting. If I messed up something, please let me know.)
Thanks for the great review. If you're looking for something to do with that Lemon Mix, try my Real Lemonade and Frosted Lemonade recipes.
I recently came across to your Real Lemonade recipe, but seeing 3% INW Lemon made me skeptical about it. I haven't tried it at over 1,5%, how would you describe INW Lemon behaves at higher percentages?
INW Lemon 3% works great as the main flavor in a lemonade recipe but I wouldn't recommend using it that high otherwise because it would overpower other concentrates. However, it's only about half as strong as Lemon Mix. At 3% you don't get that perfume quality you get when you make the mistake of using just a little too much of many INW flavors. Also no lemon Pledge taste like you get at higher percentages of other lemons. Throat hit is present, as you would expect from a citrus, but not excessive: INW Lemon has less throat hit than an equal amount of Lemon Mix. The sweetness almost gets into lemon candy territory, though, and it is missing that lovely, slightly bitter note that Lemon Mix has. It's flatter, too sweet, and less natural-tasting without being backed up by some Lemon Mix.
Thanks for the detailed follow-up. Gonna mix the recipe now, the only concern I had was if INW Lemon had perfumey/dishwashey taste at those percentages, but good to know that it hasn't. It's indeed quite smooth and candy-like, pretty flat on its own but works really well in mixes.
i was excited to make frosted lemonade the other day when i got my latest order and realized that i ordered inw lime instead of lemon.
Thanks for the review! An example of this flavor in the 'alcoholic beverage' application is Noted Talks if you were interested. I only used it at 0.25% but it does the job.
/u/Apossium Great Review looking to picking up some now, had FA Lemon Sicily on the list.
Quick question is your period broken on keyboard? I noticed you used comma's in all your decimal places. just kidding LOL
I didn't even think about that lol. My keyboard works just fine, in Finland we use comma instead of dot for decimal marks.
