Anybody having any luck with Gingerbread?
submitted almost 9 years ago by templepilot

I'm sure lots of people will be mixing Gingerbread recipes in the next few months. Has anybody had any success finding a good Gingerbread Cookie concentrate? What I've tried so far..

TFA Gingerbread Cookie- Probably my favorite, works well with a little INW GingerBread Shisha.

CAP Gingerbread- Lots of nice spice notes but the bready taste it has ruins it for me in terms of working as a cookie flavour.

INW Gingerbread Shisha- Good bread type gingerbread but doesn't work great as a cookie.

FA Gingerbread- Tastes like 90% Anise, terrible

FW Ginger- Reviews I looked at said it was an artificial ginger but tastes like real ginger to me and doesn't really fit in a Gingerbread Cookie.

Still to try..

INW Spicey biscuit, Flavorah Ginger Snap and FW Gingerbread. Anybody tried the FW Gingerbread, is it a cookie type flavour or bread type?

Santa is a Ginger

CAP Gingerbread 4%

FA Custard 1%

TFA Bavarian Cream 2%

Works well for me, super good after a few days. Tastes like a creamy holiday treat.

For some reason I read that as CAP Gingerbeard, and found myself wondering if they have a Gingerbeard flavor and what it might taste like. Gave me a good laugh haha. Looks pretty interesting though and pretty tasty =)

You read it right. Capella's Gingerbread is my favorite.

You can always add the things you are missing into a finished mix. You don't have to use just a single flavoring

Definitely agree with your assessment of CAP Gingerbread. It reminds me a lot of Cinnamon Danish Swirl, but not in a good way.

TFA Gingerbread and TFA Gingerbread Cookie are probably my favorites.

Here's a recipe:

Gingerbread Cookie:

  • 5% TFA Gingerbread Cookie
  • 1.5% FA Cookie
  • 1% INW Biscuit

I also have some gingerbread notes in my pumpkin spice recipe:

>* TFA Gingerbread: Hits several of the flavors we're looking for: cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and vanillin. CAP Gingerbread and TFA Gingerbread Cookie were far too bready for just a straight up pumpkin spice flavor. Gingerbread cookie has the benefit of having actual ginger flavor molecules in it, but has no (or less than TFA Gingerbread) nutmeg, clove, or allspice molecules. CAP Gingerbread is way too bready and reminds me a lot of Cinnamon Danish Swirl. The problem with TFA Gingerbread is it is missing an explicit ginger molecule, which we'll fix in a minute. (Caveat: TFA Gingerbread contains A+AP)

I like FLV Ginger Snap, but I haven't done a whole GS mix.... It's usually an addition to a danish/donut/macaroon that I make.

Would you say the FLV ginger snap is a good single flavor mix? I'm very curious to peoples opinion of it. Its been in my cart for a month now and I haven't bought it yet.

I haven't used it much as a single flavor. It is a pretty strong flavor. I get a bit of a bite when there's too much.

With that said, I've made some mostly GS, with just a touch of Cake Batter, Merengue, and Macaroon (mainly just for a more full flavor)

I have One on One gingerbread. Directly after mixing, flavor was light but promising. It's been steeping since Saturday. I'll try to report back if it's good or not.

FW ginger works well, but it's more of a powdered, dry ginger (like people use in baking) as opposed to fresh grated root. It's strong as hell though, start low.

You might look into NN pumpkin velvet. I get a gingerbread vibe from it, and I've been thinking of trying it in a cookie
