Question about melon flavors...(watermelon, honeydew, etc)

I've had this issue with the melon based flavors.

I always get this slight chemical taste/tinge with any type of melon.

Now, only TBD juice has made melon based juices that do not have any taste of that chemical taste/tinge I get. I have tried other vendors and it seems I get a bit of that chem tinge. I dunno what TBD does, but they do something right.

Now, I've read about using low amounts of flavorings when mixing, how the alcohol in them can give an off flavor, perfume smell and whatnot, etc.

My question is this, is there a way to mix those melon flavors and somehow remove that chemical taste/tinge I get? Do I need to get a hot plate setup? Is there an additive I can put in to remove that chem taste/tinge? Is there another process I do not know of that smooths out these flavors and removes any chem taste I may get?

True. It does need to age at least 24 hours to not be so harsh, though. At least that's my experience with it. I could vape just wild melon and be quite happy

What melon flavors have you vaped? You mean melon e-liquids or melon flavorings? What % are you using the melons at?

There are a lot of variables in to the outcome of the vape, so it helps to know all the details. A lot of melon flavors can have a strong chemical taste and be a bit harsh to the throat in my experience, so start low and pick the melons for your mix that you enjoy the most. Most of the melons I've tried have actually been pretty good, they just don't all work the same way so you also want to pick the right melon for the job.

I've been trying to do low single flavor testers, and I still get that chem tinge/taste out of them. The lower I go the less flavor too.

Low doesn't really mean anything. If you could post specific flavorings with the exact percentages used, then it would be much more helpful.

This is a total shot in the dark but MTS Vape Wizard is designed to round out flavors. Not sure it would work for chemical taste though, I believe it dampens harshness more. But it's worth investigation.

I did get a small bottle of Smooth from Wizard Labs. I think that's the same thing, I'll have to give it a shot and see what it does. Thanks1

Smooth is what you get when you GC/MS Vape Wizard & reverse-engineer it using just the molecule that appeared in highest concentration.

Smooth is just triacetin, Vape Wizard has other additives in it; so they're kindaaaaa close, but definitely far from the same

What flavorings are you using specifically? I think it's gonna come down to that as some flavors have that chemical taste but others don't. For example FW Honeydew is straight up petroleum and TFA Honeydew (while pretty strong) is a candy honeydew without that chemical tinge unless used really high.

Honeydew i really get that chem taste/tinge off of for sure. I have not yet gotten any of those flavors yet.

I have gotten some watermelon and Berry Mixes that have that tinge to them.

I try to go lower, but it only helps lessen that tinge to me.

If you tell me actual specifics (flavour company and flavoring name) I can help you out a bit more. Also I agree with the top comment in using Vape Wizard or another triacetin blend to help with the oily taste but those are usually just used for tobacco flavors. Try it out though. A little Ethyl Maltol and/or Sweetener might also help round out the fruit and mask some of the bad notes you're getting.

Sweet Watermelon - CAP Watermelon Colorless - LA Watermelon VG - TFA

These all seem have a small tinge to them, the lowest I've mixed in a single to taste is 1.0% and was low on flavor, still had the tinge.

Ripe Banana - TFA Banana - CAP Banana - TFA

Ok, not a melon, but the same thing, chem tinge/taste. Small concentration for a single flavor, same as above, little taste, still has tinge.

Harvest Berry - CAP

Been trying to find a harvest berry mix, this is more perfumey than chem tinge.

Edit: I have yet to try any additives, that Smooth is the first one i got to try out.
