INW Dark for Pipe
submitted almost 9 years ago by wh1skeyk1ngThanks for reading this flair

Setup: Lycan RDA by Cigreen; single twisted 24awg @ .40Ω; cotton wicks; 45W

Testing: INW Dark for Pipe @ 3%; Aged: 27 days

Flavor description: Prominently dark and moist pipe tobacco with a bit of a dry rolling tobacco in the background. Heavier notes of dark chocolate over subtle notes of sweet honey and delicate spices blend in well with the robust tobaccos to create a rather earthy, rich, and complex blend of taste.

Off-flavors: Not getting anything off-tasting here.

Throat hit: 4/10 Noticeable yet rather smooth.

Uses: Great in a base for a tobacco recipe 1-4%. At lower percentages (<0.5%), I can see this being included in select bakery blends without over-powering it with tobacco taste.

Pairings: Chocolate, honey, nuts, vanilla, oak, maple, dark or dry fruits, alcohol (flavorings or actual cocktails)

Notes: As with most tobaccos, this flavor is going to require at least 3 weeks of steep time for all of the nuances to come out. It holds its own as a standalone for someone wanting something reminiscent of tobacco without much of an ashy taste.

Thanks for the review. I've gotta get this. I love the dark INW tobaccos like gold ducat and am4a.

Amazing flavor.

I live mixing it with FLV flue cured tobacco at a 1:4 ratio to give a super smooth but dark and rustic tobacco.

What percent do you mix them at? I need to try this.

Thanks for the review! Been eyeballing that one for a bit now, I love their for pipe line. Would you say it's smokey at all?

I didn't really notice a smokiness to it compared to their Black for Pipe. Not saying it isn't there, but I thought it had more of a chocolate-honey vibe than anything. Partly why I thought it would pass in small amounts for some bakeries I guess?

EDIT: Weird thing about this one, I thought I ordered Gold for Pipe and was confused when I opened my package. Looked back, and sure enough I ordered this one instead. Not the least bit disappointed though!

Ordered this a few weeks back and can say I really love it, but its really not smokey at all. I ordered some FA Black Fire and INW Dirty Neutral Base to try and enhance it, but haven't gotten around to mixing it yet.

Great review! Unrelated, just curious. when you make a sample just for testing a new flavor, you add nicotine?

I do, for 2 reasons:

  • If it doesn't have nicotine, I won't bother finishing the tester bottle. (Typically I play around with pairings, so having nic in it satisfies my desire to vape in the first place)

  • I'm going to be vaping it with nicotine if I mix it up in a recipe, so I might as well see how it tastes at my desired strength. (3-6mg/mL)

OP, a while back I tagged you as "Tobacco Boys, cool dude, mod" and so far you did not disappoint. Just thought you should know. Cheers for the review.

Thank you so much for this review! I'm so excited about tobacco flavors right now. I feel like they've finally moved out of that floral/bakery/nutty/sweet "abstract" phase, and are finally becoming an authentic pipe/cigar/handrolled experience. Reviews like this are essential in terms of buying advice.

Good stuff, man. I have been craving some tobacco lately and it looks like this might be on my next order.

Thanks for the review. This might be worth checking out. I loved me some pipe tobacco before I quit, and I can't stand the dominant leather flavour in burlys
