I've talked to various people about wanting to put together a contest feature on All The Flavors for a while now, and Vurve and Kocanda from Beginner Blending finally got me to do something - it's imperfect, but it'll grow with time:

• Contests at All The Flavors

If you view one of your recipes, you'll see it now has a trophy button. If you are a pro member (free or paid) that button will let you enter it in a contest. Users who are judges in that contest can view those recipes, reject them if they don't fit, add personal notes, provide an overall score, and when the contest is complete, it will arrange them according to all judges' votes. All judging will be private and the recipe list will be kept secret to anyone but judges until the reveal.

Some of the judging mechanics is still under development, but as of right now, there is a contest up, people can enter into it and that's an important first step.

A few things to note:

• Entering a recipe in a contest locks it. You can no longer edit or delete it without special permission - forever.

• Entering a recipe in a contest means it will eventually be made public, beyond your control. There may be private contests in the future.

• Other than giving out occasional prizes, I am not involved in judging or making sure you get the promised prizes, explain or enforce the rules, or vetting the people who are. I just provide a platform, I'm not going to adjudicate or chase down contest runners who renege or contestants who do shady things (other than continuing to catch and eliminate gamers).

If you'd like to try running a contest in the near future, let me know here, in PM or on the site. I'm looking to do a few to shake out issues in this initial release. If you have additional forms of contest or other features you think this has to have, let me know as well.

Also, a mini All The Flavors update:

• I'm working on why some of you get your default mix values saved and some do not. I need more time and more input.
• Those of you that have used the automatic email inventory import from Bull City have been helping, that system improves every time it tells you there was a problem. :)
• Three of you have an issue syncing the Android app, with a 404/500 error. I'm watching that problem , but have not found the solution yet. It's somehow related to deleted recipes that are still on the device due to a failed sync of some kind.

Also, I've tried in the last week to catch up on a long backlog with many flavor add requests in it. If there are ones I haven't entered them or got back to you about by now, please repeat your request. I must have missed it, and you should give me the opportunity to miss it again. :)

Thanks to all of my supporters, none of this would happen without your subscriptions and the nice (and sometimes not as nice) messages you pummel me with all day. I've been very busy in real life lately, but I'm trying to spend more time responding to those messages and keeping up with the requests.
