if you ever think that your juice isnt that good try space jam parsec, its the worth thing ever. im in shock that a very expensive juice is that bad
Something I've been thinking about a lot lately. Most "pro" e-liquids I've tried are just meh. Some, downright awful.
There are gems, no doubt. TPR "Angel Sauce", as an example. PinUp "Sophia", another.
There are definitely newer folks out there making some pretty off-balance recipes, however, after several months MOST DIYers have a solid enough grasp on their flavors to make solid recipes. If only for themselves.
A big part is getting clean nicotine, storing and handling your stock correctly, and starting with proven recipes.
As we all know, most pro liquids are completely reliant on sweetness to earn them sales. If left to flavor alone, most fall flat on their face.
DIYers can be so hard on themselves. The bottom line is: Do YOU like it? If the answer is yes, then it's good. Judge your recipes in glass bottles, after sitting for 4 or 5 weeks. You'll be amazed how good they really can be.
Most commercial juices are built on marketing, not flavor. Spend about 10 minutes on Instagram and you'll quickly find out where the effort is spent.
As for DIY, it can be rewarding, much cheaper and almost always better tasting. My only gripe with DIY at the moment is the overcomplicated 12 flavor recipe mixes that are trying to be "premium".
It's funny, I really only like my own juice at this point, and it's not because I know the perfect ratio of flavors that I enjoy.
There's just no simple 100% VG juice I've found that doesn't taste horribly sweet. I make really simple flavors, usually not even a mix. I try simple 100% lavender or rose candy or grape or watermelon or cola. No sweetener, 100% VG, simple and tasty.
It seems like a lot of juice vendors try to make overly complex liquids with a hint of so and so. I find that there's almost always a flavor that is good on its own, something already pretty complex like rose candy. VG is already sweet on its own. I almost always enjoy single flavor mixes over anything else.
Do you find that you need to add a little distilled water so the VG is thin enough to wick?
Never tried to honestly. I haven't noticed a real problem, but now and then if I vape continuously (constantly for a minute) it might get too hot and start tasting acrid from burning cotton. It seems like I have to let it sit for a second for the juice to seep back in. Maybe that'd be solved with some distilled water? But probably not a good idea to continuously breathe through your vape either...
Which lavender do you get? Do you find it adds calmness?
The lavender is FA (plain "lavender" flavor, don't think there are others though). I'm not sure about calmness. If lavender scent and flavor calms you, I can definitely see it, but for me it mostly just adds some soft floral flavor. There's a light sweet flavor and strong floral scent. I tried vaping jasmine and rose before and they were too much, but lavender works great on its own. I actually really like lavender/cola, but probably odd to some folks. It's great on its own or I could see it being great to add just a tiny bit of soft floral flavor that isn't going to dominate the juice but mostly just soften it a little bit. I mean soft as in pretty much the opposite of harsh or sour. If you had a strong citrus or something, I could see a tiny bit of that with lavender might really mellow it out.
It's great. I'd pick up a 30ml if you haven't tried it before. My other favorite floral flavor is "Rose Candy". It's much sweeter (candy) but has just enough rose to make that stand out. I'm not sure what to mix that one with but I love it on its own too. If you add too much though, it can come out pretty bad. You have to really get just the right amount so it isn't overly sweet. I've mixed it with cola and liked it but cola is pretty much my favorite mixer, and I tend to like mixing anything with it (cherry, lavender, rose candy, grape). It gives everything a soda feel.
Absolutely makes sense. In fact, anytime I've ever tried a "legendary" vendor liquid, it's usually able to achieve that status (in my mind) because it's found the sweet spot of one really great flavoring, and built around it with a minimum of supporting notes.
Be it TPR's "Angel Sauce", with it's perfect mix of LA Raspberry, and Cap Orange Creamsicle, or TVC's "Honey Pearry", with it's dialed-in TPA Honeydew, it seems to be a common thread. Even ("the first hype liquid") "Unicorn Milk" is ultimately Cap Sweet Strawberry at a great ratio to a simple cream base. Every great recipe I've tried has that one dialed-in flavoring, and just enough on the edges to balance and support it. It's that one flavor note that keeps you coming back.
There is no shame in single flavor mixes. Hell, I quit a 21 year 2PAD habit thanks almost solely to (what I later learned to be) FW Juicy Fruit Gum at 13% and 2% EM. No joke. It was my first ADV from a local shop for almost a year.
Also TPR banana pudding wish I could get close to making this it's my favorite juice that I will still buy!
I would guess any banana pudding is a banana cream and a vanilla custard/swirl/maybe ice cream, with some low % cream enhancers. I remember making a decent one a while back trying to clone nilla gorilla, but that had all sorts of grahams and vanillas and what not.
Becoming a great mixer takes a ton of patience , dedication, natural talent & a very thorough knowledge of all the flavorings & how they interact with each other .
I am not one of those people , anybody can mix a vapable juice but there is no question some are on a truly elite level .
If it weren't for these people many of us would be lost .
Yeah I am a bit at a loss when it comes to some vendors, I been mixing for a week and have tried a ton of earl grey e liquids, closest to taste of the real tea was from Northland but it came with a heavy throat hit.
So I mixed 1.5ml of Earl Grey II from TFA into a 30ml bottle and it's better then any store bought I have tried.
I wish I knew diy was this easy years ago(and yeah I know some recipes are complicated as hell but the couple 2-4 ingredient ones I made so far are pretty decent...)
Also never liked any Space Jam I ever tried so not shocked here.
Gotta thank this sub for the info and help along the way!

> What is this?
I have a friend that still pays for "Vapebox" The most expensive tier you can get. A shitty mod/tank that craps out within a month or you can't get coils for anywhere, a shitty/gimmicky accessory, and 4 bottles of mostly shit juice for $75 a month. Usually (3) 15 mL bottles and (1) 30-50mL bottle. He typically gives/throws away the majority of the juice away after we agree it tastes like either hand sanitizer or burnt ass. I haven't bothered trying his last 3 batches of juices except the one he claimed was fruity pebbles but tasted like burnt almonds. Once in a while he does get a good one though. I'm blown away he would rather continue to buy this garbage and pay top dollar for Beard 32 (2x120mL bottles a month= about $100) than vape tasty DIY for pennies per mL.
Trying to convince a friend right now to not sign up for Zamplebox, isn't working to well....
He doesn't wanna make juice so I linked him some decent places like Bluedot/B-X/etc...Hopefully he goes that way -_-.
Got a free bottle of motley brew crumb DMC. That is the worst smelling and tasting I've ever sampled!
Got that one also, wasn't the worst I had tbh, it was average I guess, but to sweet....
