This has been a work in progress since I started diy a few months ago. It started off as me trying to create one of my favorite b&m house juices. Sadly that turned out to be a one flavor custard (turned out to be straight cap vanilla custard v1). Then I set out to make a vanilla custard I liked even more. After several iterations I landed on this. I didn't add the butterscotch until the last 2 attempts.
Buterscotch Vanilla Custard Pie
-
Vanilla custard V1 (CAP) 5%
-
Vanilla Custard (TFA) 2%
-
Butterscotch Ripple (FW) 3.5%
-
Fresh Cream (FA) 1%
-
Graham Cracker Clear (TFA) 2.5%
Custard
Obviously both the custards make up this component. I think the TFA adds some creamy aspects that to the nice eggy components of the CAP. I started off with 7% CAP vc but it really covered up the rest of the flavors. 2% TFA VC fills out the CAP nicely.
Butterscotch
I used butterscotch ripple because I like the ice cream like ccomponent in this. It elevates it from a straight hardcrack form of other butterscotchs but it still needs some help. I added the fresh cream to elevate the creamy goodness. With the cream aspects coming from the custards 1% is all that's really needed
Crust
The graham cracker is really the only thing that makes up the crust. It kind of just plays in the background and gives a really nice lingering flavor.
I know CAP vc at 5% might be a bit high but l like it at this % because it allows it to be fairly decent after a 1 day steep. It gets better around day 4-5 and really hits it's stride a 1.5 weeks ish.
I hope you like it
This is like pure diacetyl. I likey.
adds ripple to order
Been thinking about doing a butterscotch custard lately. Still need to get butterscotch ripple for a couple different recipes. Adding this to the list!
Its crazy how people put out single flavor mixes and sell them. I wanted to clone a vanilla custard that I loved before I started DIY. Turns out the juice is like 10% DIYFS vanilla custard and thats it. Still good, but disappointingly simple
I've been working on a butterscotch ice cream but I can't get it to where the butterscotch pops without using a hard crack sort of version along with it. All the creams overpower ripple. I'll mix with up without TFA custard to give it a shot since I've never had any luck with this profile.
