[Review] HiLiq: Service, Liquids, Flavors
submitted about 9 years ago by sashei

First of all 2 things: it was my first diy batch, so I might not be an expert, but I still wanna contribute to the community. When I was started looking into diy I couldn't really find much information about HiLiq.

Why HiLiq? Japanese vaping, or rather liquids and nicotine laws are rather strict, and HiLiq offers everything you need at an reasonable price, so it was the easiest choice for me.

###My Order

  • Nicotine base 50mg/100ml bottle
  • PG
  • VG
  • Flavors: Strawberry, Blueberry, Ice Apple, Raspberry a 30ml
  • Diferent tools like syringes, bottles etc

###Service and transport

They offer everything you need, from nicotine bases, flavors, sweeteners, cooling agents etc. The only thing they didn't offer were blunt needle tips, but I guess they were not allowed too (you need a prescription in JP to buy some). HiLiq itself is in China, and I was happily suprised that they adjusted the JP website to Japanese laws, so you don't exceed the legal limit for importans (for example max is 50mg100ml nicotine base).

It took 3 days to arrive with UPS for 42$ (2.5kg), which is normal price. They also send an chart (its on their website) telling you how much nicotine to add for your desired nicotine level, which saved me some calculated but isn'T really necessary. Everything came really well packed and sealed several times, really top. The only downside was the sealing of the 250ml pg/vg bottles, whichs lid was glued really, really thick and it took me 20 minutes with my sharpest scissor to open it.

###Nicotine, PG, VG

I read a lot online about people worrying that its "chinese crap" because its so cheap. But like many people who actually bought it: its really high quality. Very clear, sealed twice with glue and a ziplock bag. Not much more to say about it I guess, other than youre good to buy. Also, manufacturing date was the date of it being sent away, so really "fresh"

###Flavors

Really hard to find much information online, even though they have a variety of flavors for a reasonable price. HiLiq recommends 4-8% for weak flavor, 8-12% for intermediate and 12-15% for strong flavor. I did 10ml test batches of 10%, 12% and 15% and tried all of them right away and after one week of slow steeping. PG30%/VG70% at 3mg nicotine@Kanger Toptank subohm

##Blueberry 9.5/10

My absolut favorite! It tasts great right away and both artificial and non-artificial. Artificial as in real blueberry don't taste that strong non artificial as in it doesnt taste like perfume. Only downside it has a weak to non existent aftertaste, even after steeping.

Recommended: 15%, ~2+ days of steeping

##Strawberry 4.5/10

I read a recommendation about this flavor and wanted to try it out - and its awful. Just like back in the blunder days, when I hated strawberry shisha tabacco this one really tastes artificial. Kind of spongy, hard to describe.

Recommended: 10-12%, 5days+ steeping

##Ice Apple 9/10

This was a pleasant surprise. I assume its just apple flavor mixed with their own cooling agent. Testing it right after making it was a real downer: no flavor at all, no "cooling", nothing, but really good after one week, extremely sweet.

Recommended: 14%, at least1 week+ steeping

##Raspberry 8/10

Also pleasant surprise. Strong flavor, but not artificial, kinda lik strawberrys' good twin brother. Hard to find the perfect flavor ratio for this one tho. Too high flavor ratio gave me headaches, too low made me crave more for this awesome taste.

Recommended: 11% (or more if you dont get a headache), 5days+ steeping

##Other things to note:

I made some mixes, mostly using Apple Ice, and while they were not bad, I didn't discover anything worth mentioning. Apple Ice + Raspberry tasted well like cooling apple and raspberry; overall I liked single flavor most. But looking forward to get a milky flavor and mix it with raspberry. I also highly recommend the needle tip bottles - really cheap@60c, and easy&clean to use

Thanks for this review matey, I'll put my next nic order in through them (Piratesvape.co.uk no longer trading.) and see how it gets on. That raspberry flavour sounds like it could be decent depending on price of course.

How would you rate the smoothness of the nic? Best nic I've ever had I was able to lung hit at 9mg without major discomfort - that was only once, mind - so whereabouts would you place this?

When I mixed up they're flavors I used 4% and let them sit a week. I had pineapple, vbic, chocolate, and mango sorbet. I vape around 30- 40 watts on a 0.3 ohm coil in my merlin. I also mixed them up at 3 nic. It's possible that u could be using them at too high of a percentage. When u mix at a high percentage sometimes it can mute flavors and it can also cause them to taste like medicine. I usually tend to start out at 2-4% on new flavors. These flavors seem to me to be pretty high concentrated compared to something like tfa.

thanks for this! we need to start a hiliq only list! i just ordered a bunch of flavours in their $1 deal and couldn't find many recipes that used them at all!

All i can tell you so far is that their banana flavour is awesome at %6 howeever i have not added nic to it yet... tastes like banana runts! so i use it to add more flavour to my less flavorsome juices!
