Question to anyone that's mixed "Pebbles"
submitted about 9 years ago by mercifulz

Recipe by notcharlesmanson I believe.. (if that's the right username).

Has anyone found it to be just... lacking in something? I am not really sure how to describe it. Other from the fact that it feels light, it doesn't really feel like anything is pulling anything in it together. A lot of people keep saying it tastes like a genuine cereal but I am not sure why I am not getting this. I think its been steeping for 5 days or so. 0 creaminess to add some body to the vape. Mostly just faint fruit medley taste with lemon/lime being the predominant flavor. I may or may not be insane and what I am saying sounds stupid but I just want to see if anyone else is on the same boat.

.. And I do know it probably has to steep longer but people seem to love this right off the bat and I feel like i'm missing out.

mixed at 80/20 3mg nic.

edit: by no means is this a diss to the creator or the recipe itself. i just am trying to pinpoint what went wrong or if there is anything wrong with my input really

So, pebbles is my favorite community recipe. I wasn't so sure about that for a while, cause for the first two weeks, it tasted bad and unfinished to me. However, going back to my 60ml after A MONTH of not touching it really made it shine and something I thoroughly enjoy.

Something this creamy needs more than 5 days. Put it away for a while, forget about it for a couple weeks, then remember it. Trust me.

There is the possibility that you are taste blind to some of the flavours. I suffer from it terribly and it took months of diy to figure out what concentrates worked for me. I have a long list that I will never use again.

So many recipes I see posted here I just don't bother trying because I know I won't get much from them. For example if I see strawberry as a main note in a recipe I move on immediately, so many wasted mixes trying to get some sort of flavour from them.

I feel the same with this recipe, but it could just be one of the flavors used is "off" to us compared to the taste others get from it. I've mixed plenty of highly regarded recipes that just don't do it for me. The black cherry in this recipe sticks out like a sore thumb to me, and like you I don't get much of a milky flavor (I've found over the past year that I just don't like Vienna cream much, if it's not steeped long enough it just has this weird lingering smell/taste).

The same thing happened to me with "premium" juice that I used to buy, and will continue to happen in DIY. That being said, I always mix up the recipes here as they were written, and make changes to suit my tastes afterwards. Who knows, maybe some magic happens and turns a flavor I usually don't like into something totally different!

Should I maybe add sweetener?.. Just a thought

Calling /u/NotCharlesManson

I don't think adding sweetener will do much, if anything it will make it worse.

I haven't mixed Pebbles but looking at the recipe I can't see why you're having this problem unless you've accidently missed an ingredient or two.

Maybe try mixing it at 70/30. I find there's a big difference between 70% and 80% VG in terms of flavour but not so much in terms of vapour production.

No. I for sure paid attention to detail with the ingredients and went down the list one by one and added everything precisely. I guess I was just expecting something creamy with actual pebbled/cerealy/grainy taste. While I understand it's a completely new cereal base with individual ingredients, it's just.... light with not much to it.

I think it's pretty damn close to fruity pebbles and it definitely has a cereal taste to it. I agree with you that the flavor is "light" though, in my opinion it lacks the "milk" part of the cereal. Haven't tried adding to the recipe yet, but it for sure has an amazing cereal base that is well-rounded and I'm sure the milk aspect and heavy mouth feel can be added in with something like Fresh Cream or even VBIC. I don't think the recipe needs sweetener as the ingredients already make it pretty sweet. Might take away from the authenticity of the pebbles. Like I said just try adding heavy cream notes and it should give you the flavor and mouth feel you're looking for.

I think this is honestly my problem. Having that dairy/creamy part added in would maybe change this entirely for me.

I've vaped the hell out of it and it's in my girlfriend's normal rotation. From personal experience it's fantastic.

He has said it takes about 3 days for the vienna cream and cream cheese icing to come together.

What are you vaping on; are your concentrates older? I would take a look at that before questioning the recipe personally.

Ordered all concentrates last week. The day they got here from gremlindiy is the day I mixed it all

What is the setup your are vaping on? What ohms, watts/temp? That also has a lot to do with vape and flavor quality.

istick 60 watt TC

crown .25 ohm at about 50-55 watts

That setup should be pumping quite a bit of dense vapor, so that's ruled out.

I just took a look at the recipe and maybe you can play with the ratios to suit you? There seems to be a couple of unnecessary flavors in there, like Toasted Marshmallow and Graham Cracker Clear. You could always use his recipe as a starting point, vape it, find out what it's lacking, then customize it to your liking.

Make sure you always shake the hell out of your concentrates before mixing. If you got excited and started mixing right when you received them, they could have settled out or separated in storage with the vendor. Just being shipped wouldn't be enough. I always line up the concentrates for a given mix and shake them all right before I open them.

There's nothing to represent the Berry flavor within the pebbles. The purple and blue flakes need some love.

Personally love this recipe best for me as a shake and vape I feel the total percentage being around 17% is too high and I get vape tongue very quickly. I typically make a concentrate base and makes this recipe at 12 to 14%, no Vapor tongue I can Vape it all day.

I love this recipe. The blood orange is what I taste most though. Blood orange needs to be shaken really well.

I think u/NotCharlesManson did an excellent job of creating a cereal with no cereal flavorings. I can tell this profile took time and lots of fiddling with percentages. Don't think he just Short Dicked it

You're not alone. Tastes nothing like pebbles to me either. Nothing. I guess everyone is different.
