So, I noticed I have about 80-100 flavors from various vendors, and I still find I'm missing flavors for recipes constantly..so I buy them. Is there a point where you just say 'meh' and stop buying new flavors, or do you guys always experiment with new stuff?
I wonder if it has something to do with how I vape, tbh. I can barely kill a 30ml bottle before I'm ready for something new. I'm not one of those vape an 120ml for a week straight type of person.
I'm very much the same mate. It's a struggle, though good for mixing inspiration as you learn a great deal about different flavours, your preferred %, your preferred pg/vg ratios, etc.
Least DIY is cheap as chips!
Yeah! That has a lot to do with why I love DIY. I wouldn't say I'm picky, but I love having like 4-5 different flavors at hand and all times. At like, 22 dollars a 30ml that's way too expensive.
I tend to have 4-5 flavors I really like to bounce around between, then every once in a while I'll order some new ones and try them, but I usually only like 1 or two from each order enough to include them in my flavor rotation.
But agreed without DIY I'd spend way more money vaping than I ever did smoking, which was one of the big reasons why I switched.
I'm usually tired of a juice before I finish a 4ml tank. I'm always kind if jealous of those people that have that all day every day juice.
I have 6 different bottles on the go pretty much at all times. It can take me a minute or two to decide which one I want that day. They're just like grab it and go
My completely arbitrary goal is 1000. I'm over half way there. There might be some sort of intervention waiting for me at the finish line.
I only have about 200 different flavors but I've probably ordered about 500 bottles. In there beginning I was only ordering small bottles and mixing like crazy, now my orders are mostly getting 1-4oz bottles to replace the smaller ones I use frequently and a few new flavors on occasion.
The first couple years of DIY I kept it stupid simple. About 6 flavors on hand. I was still ordering vendor juice when they had sales, so I was really only mixing to have something between vape mail. Then something happened in the last year... Now I have 566 flavors and I'm not really sure why.
I reached a point where I found 5 or 6 solid recipes that I could rotate and truly enjoy. Ever since then I've stopped experimenting on new recipes. Sometimes I check back in here and see a recipe or two that catch my eye but I usually forget about them by the time I restock on flavors, lol.
Some people can. Some people can stop much earlier than that. I however, cannot. I seem to constantly be buying flavors even when it seems I have everything.
I'm new to this so I have been on here reading a lot. And I don't have many favors, just a couple quite simple ones. This is kind of what I fear is getting deep into this where I have a closet full of jars and want to keep buying more and more. I stopped smoking and started vaping to save money. Then I wanted to start DIY to save even more money by not spending 20$ a bottle for juice. but I really do enjoy swapping out flavors often and I know this is going to be me eventually with 100 flavor bottles lol
I still shockingly save money, though. I've been mixing for about a year, or so. Cigarettes were 10 dollars a pack, so I was spending at least 70 dollars a week smoking.
Oh I def am saving money I have been vaping for only two months and the difference in my bank account is a lot. Me and the wife smoked 3 packs a day between us so I was running to the gas station every single day to spend 25$. It's insane to think I was burning 700$ a month, creating dirty ashes everywhere in the house and coating everything in the house with nicotine. When I vape premium juice though it was still a bit costly as I run through 10ml a day and luckily the wife barely uses any. So it still seems a bit costly going that route. But with DIY it's running 2$/30ml that makes more sense to me than anything. More less I'm trying to be as cheap as possible lol. And if I wind up with 100 bottles of flavors I won't tap into that's a lot of cash. I was already starting to see it with the several premium bottles I purchased I refuse to vape on that are sitting in my cabinet.
Remember that at $20 per 30ml of juice, you can buy approx 10 bottles of concentrates : 10ml each, which will total around Many Bottles plus of juice! (Yield subject to change based on concentrate used. Please see terms and conditions. APR 144425%)
Trying to be cheap is fine after the initial outlay. You've gotta invest to start, but the savings start immediately as does the return on investment.
You can always post in the new mixer's thread with any questions you might have - nothing is too stupid or silly to ask in there!
I found that it slowed considerably , now instead of mixing every new recipe that seems tastey I'm just more focused on tinkering with a few
I have managed to rotate 5-10 ADV's which require about 30 different flavors. I have been buying 120ml bottles for these specific flavors. I make big 450ml batches and vape about 30ml's a day.
Now I am sitting on a bunch of flavors I dont need. I bought them to try out some recipes I saved, but I saved so many recipes I lost track. Maybe I will do a give away for a big of random flavors to a noob.
I just bought around 25 new flavors to put me over the 100 mark. I know I won't stop. There's always a new flavor and a better recipe to be vaped. Also, I shamelessly pretty much begged for oddball flavoring recommendations in the new mixers thread. (Thanks /u/ID10-T, and /u/skiddlzninja )
I do have around a dozen of my own solid go-to recipes, but I'm always playing around with a half dozen more which end up getting rotated in and out for periods of time. Ultimately, I know I like to try new and different things, and I will always buy the new hyped flavor, which hopefully results in new/improved recipes. Plus, the people I mix for like trying different things too, so I feel it is my mission to buy the latest and greatest flavorings.
TL;DR: no
When I place an order is when I take a look and usually pick several new flavors. Problem is most of them sit since i have so many "new" flavors I barely get time to try them.
It never stops, there is always several flavors in my wish list. Whenever I buy them all, I will find a recipe that calls for a new flavor. I'm getting to the point now where I am just subbing if I have a similar flavor unless I read that they are drastically different.
Over 400 flavors and it feels like I am barely scratching the surface. I set my budget to whatever I make from selling juice to friends (or less). Typically spend 70ish bucks a month, but that includes VG, PG, Nic, syringes, bottles, etc.... Not just flavors.
I pretty much alternate between 2 different flavors that I've settled on after a lot of trial-and-error. I will sample at my B&M from time-to-time, but still usually opt for my go-to flavors.
I also have a subscription to Zamplebox, but only find one or two I will actually like, and give the rest away.
I have about 100 flavors and maybe 6 or 7 blends that are great all day vapes. Every time I restock my flavors for the go-to blends, I pick up something new in a small sampler. If it works out for me, I get a bigger one next time. I'm currently playing with apple pie recipes now that my Werther's Original is set.
