Hey,
first of all thanks for helping me out - in threads and in the wiki.
I just finished my first test batch. I used only HiLiq stuff as I made a big order (nicotine base/vg/pg/flavours: strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, ice apple, tools).
Now, maybe you know Japanese tabacco lobby is super strong, they basically made the government to ban any nicotine product outside of tabacco, so you only get 0mg e juice. So I bought the 0mg e juice (for 30$/30ml at the vape shop), and dilluted it with 18mg juice I imported from America. What a big hassle, as the flavors sometimes doesnt fit (yuzu-lemon and cosmig fog euphoria urg), and every filling tasted different with uneven nicotine levels. It was just a super pain in the ass, and super expensive as well, even though I started vaping only 4 weeks ago. So I decided to give diy a try and made a big 150$ order on HiLiq
Anyways, made some samples and couldn't wait, so I tried the 15% flavour blueberry/3mg/30pg/70vg in my Kanger Topbox, and it is perfect!
Learnt a few things doing my first batch (a few errors have been done :s), but it turned out really well.
Once I tried the rest, I'm gonna write a review on HiLiq stuff
-thanks
I heard vaping is growing rapidly in Japan... how is that possible if it's all 0-nic?
Not so much. OP is on point - big tobacco lobby is a giant fucktard here although they push their own ecig shit. I've seen a lot of people using those so there is potential. Unfortunately, as it is with lots of things in Japan, it's all about perception. Vaping makes you feel like an outlaw if you mix your own juice and import nicotine (OP you can buy up to 120ml of 100mg nic which will last you forever; just be careful as it's potent and dangerous). God forbid you take out an rx200 - I get away with it because I'm a foreigner but there is a strong perception that you are smoking something illegal.
Big tobacco is so strong in Japan because the government literally has a finger or maybe a whole hand in that pie, right? Don't they own, or at least partially own now, one of the major tobacco companies?
Yeah, they own half of JT (Japan Tobacco). JT is the maker of Mild Seven (now called Mevius), which is a huge tobacco brand. The government definitely has a vested interest in keeping traditional tobacco alive here.
But with iQOS killing it in Japan, people are being swayed more towards that instead of vaping, as the liquids here contain no nicotine at all. At least with iQOS, they can get their nic fix.
I hand? They've got their entire pixelated dick up in there, if you pardon my French. Until 2013 the Japanese Ministry of Finance owned 50% of Japan Tobacco, which has ~60% monopoly on the market. JT is a behemoth of a corporation with tobacco being only single source of revenue - they have real estate, food and agriculture branches to name a few. Of course their main business is killing people with cancer sticks.
> but there is a strong perception that you are smoking something illegal.
Japanese here, this is spot on.
Not sure how much the scene has grown since last year (if at all), but after scouring Tokyo, I could only find shitty ego pens at Donki. I also brought juice in my checked baggage and they poured half of it out upon entry and my bags were a day late. :( It's "unusual" and therefore sketchy.
They have "e-cigarettes" that are somewhat growing in popularity, but they're the gas station kind that look like a plastic cigarette, not a vape.
I found myself going right back to smoking stogies when I was there. :(
In Japan, big tobacco is pushing their own "vaporizer" that heats cartridges of tobacco.
Just commenting to say I'm right there with you, man! (As in, living in Japan) Just got my first batch of DIY gear sent over from the US. Already looking at getting more raws sent over. Have you found anywhere local to buy PG or VG?
Congrats, but probably something for the new mixers thread. Not much to go on here.
I'm kinda on the fence with appreciation posts. We don't get sooo many that it's annoying and it's kinda a nice way for new mixers to introduce themselves.
But it's top post of the week so it seems your in the minority.
Doesn't change the fact that this should go in a new mixer's thread.
I don't understand why some people get all third Reich about where posts should or shouldn't go. Isn't that what the mods are for? To me anyone that bitches about such meaningless shit must have the worst private/social life. Maybe if you are compelled to complain about such trivial shit, just think to yourself... Does this really matter so much that I must bring it to everybody's attention?
If I don't post this complaint will people still know how much of a useless pile I am?
