Hi there! I live in PA, and have been vaping for a little over a month now. Vaping is taking over smoking cigarettes at my work, and I jumped on the wagon to escape the cigarette tax increase. I can't believe what I've been missing!
Does anyone know, what with the Vape Tax firing up in PA starting in October... are the ingredients for making DIY E-juice going to be taking the hit as well? I googled but nothing came up for me. I'd love to switch to DIY, but don't know where it stands come October. Any pointers appreciated! ~J

Any idea if PA is hitting the nicotine patches and lozenges with a tax hike? I think vaping should be in the same boat with all the other getting-off cigarettes products. This is my own personal bitch, but I think that with the amount of tax they lay on cigarettes, patches & lozenges and whatnot should be -free-.

Well, they should be! Occasionally I wonder 'what if I should crave a cigarette?' ...I don't crave them mind you, I find I crave just a higher mg vape which is already a hyooge win for me!... Anyway, when I ponder what would I do if I ever crave a smoke, I just sniff the wife's ashtray. Fookin' dusgusting. So to me at least, vaping has been THE tobacco cessation product. I tried patches, lozenges and hypnosis to no avail. I think the reason is that, while they worked on the chemical addiction to nicotine, they didn't address they habit urges of smoking. I've got a coworker on the vape who just vapes at 6mg until it starts to make him feel sick, then he vapes less on the 6mg. He hasn'd touched his vape in weeks! I can't do that; I need the motion. So I've been slowly cutting back the nic, hoping to get to 0, all the while hitting the vape per usual. Anyway, long story short, nicotine replacement is great if that is what you crave! I seem more addicted to the going-through-the-motions of smoking, though, which they don't help at all. Vaping does. So yep, it sure should be counted as tobacco cessation in my book!
I can't imagine it would since those ingredients are used in soap-making, baking and the like.
The one thing that I've wondered about, though, was liquid nicotine. In my estimation that can't be considered vaping-centric either, though.
I was thinking about that as my defense as they drag my butt to the gulag. I was making cookies / home-made antifreeze! But the nicotine... they'll have me on that. I just dropped about 55 bucks on DIY stuff, so I guess I'm on my way, wherever it goes! I'm a 50 / 50 Ruthless EZ-duz-it / on ice guy myself. I mix the two for a more subtle menthol.
AFAIK, nicotine base is already regulated by the FDA, so anywhere DIYers previously bought nicotine base should operate as normal for the forseeable future.
Concentrated flavors are used in a myriad of consumable applications, so they're a non-issue as far as purchase and shipping goes, and VG & PG can be used in a number of homemade cosmetic products.
Most of the approved DIY vendors ship fairly discreetly, too, Bull City Vapor's return address label simply says BCV, Ecig Express uses the shorthand ECX, and Gremlin DIY is a legit candy making supply site (wink) so, really, the regs don't affect DIY juice makers at all.
That doesn't mean you should sleep on advocacy, though. Keep pushing back against the FDA's failure to protect public health as often as you can. :-)
