I am starting a YouTube channel teaching people who are just starting DIY the very basics of how to mix by weight and why it is better, flavors that are going to be useful for just starting out, my favorite vendors to use, simple recipes, how to avoid making shitty e-juice, and basically all the things I wish someone had told me when I started making my own juice. I have been making my own juice for 3 years but am pretty new to the community. I love this community of mixers that we can talk about new flavors and recipes and anything else! What I have seen though is A LOT of beginners coming in and asking the same simple questions day in and day out. I know the majority of the information is on the sidebar, but obviously that gets overlooked. I want to create something similar to DIY or DIE but more geared to people who are just starting out and essentially holding their hand until they are ready to graduate to producing good content for the sub and move on to DIY or DIE and the more complex recipes and flavor notes. So my question(s) for you all is: what are some things you wish you knew before you started DIY? And/or what kind of posts do you see on the sub that you think could be made into a video/article to direct beginners to when they ask those questions? Thank you for your time and I didn't see anything about this being against the rules but if it is feel free to delete.
TLDR:what are some things you wish you knew before you started DIY? And/or what kind of posts do you see on the sub that you think could be made into a video/article to direct beginners to when they ask those questions?
Make a video explaining that new mixers should read the f'ing sidebar and post in the new mixers thread. lol.
But seriously, all the most common, annoying questions that appear in this sub due to people being too lazy to do a search and read will be the topics you need to cover.
-
How to store nicotine
-
A vid explaining mg/mL
-
A step by step how to use all functions of ELR
-
What flavors to buy on first mix.
-
etc.
Basically anything in the sidebar.
-
Explaining why 1g=1mL even though 1.04g=1mL
-
WHERE TO PUT YOUR FUCKING FLAVORS TO GET A LIST OF FUCKING RECIPES THAT YOU CAN MAKE HOLY SHIT FUCKING KILL ME IF I SEE THIS GODDAMN QUESTION ON MY FRONT PAGE AGAIN
-
The etiquette of sharing and using recipes.
-
How to use google to find the cheapest PG/VG.
-
How price relates to quality of nicotine.
You're welcome to use any of the information in the Beginner Blending podcast. Or just inform people of the podcast because we definitely cover a lot of what is missing from the bigger channels during our show. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Ok I'm pretty new to mixing, and I do read a lot on DIy Or Die, and on here too. But one thing that I still have trouble with is writing flavor notes. The best I can do is describe with very subjective, touchy-feely words that are more about the associations I make from a given flavor and less a coherent description of a juice. Ex today I used the word "bright" to describe the fruity melony aspect of Diy or Die's Dewwey Boba clone... I'm not sure if I just pulled a word out of my ass or if other people would also describe it as bright. Does bright even have an established meaning with regards to flavors? Would anyone else know what I meant by bright, or will I even know what I was trying to say in a week from now? So this is basically how I've been approaching my flavor notes and I don't even know if there is a particular way to taste a juice to evaluate it besides simply vaping it. So as a random new mixer who may or may not resemble other noobs, I would hope to learn more about how to taste and write flavor notes.thank you!

What credibility do you have? AFAIK, you appeared on this sub in the last month or two. Channels like DIYORDIE, New Amsterdam and Steam Room are already doing an amazing job.
Well I understand that I haven't been on the sub long but I have been mixing for 3 years. Before DIYORDIE and all the others made all the videos. They are doing an amazing job and I am not trying to take anything away from them. I just think there is a gap between these people who are just getting started and want to do things the easiest way. That's is my goal. To show people how fast, easy and cheap it is to make your own all day Vape. I want to focus on simple 1-4 flavor recipes and as close to shake-and-vapes that I can do. I want to keep my videos short and concise so people who just want to mix up recipes that already exist that they know will be good and easy can do that.
I wish I knew what flavors NOT to get like tfa cheesecake lol
