Nude nicotine - Nicotine salts (Signature) review
submitted about 9 years ago by ShutUpTurkey

Hey all, I've been watching for a few weeks now and haven't seen anything much said about this product. Thought I'd give my two cents on it. So, I'll just get right into it then.

First, I should say that I'm using a serpent mini at around 20w on 0.4ohm primarily. I have been mixing at 3mg/ml and also 4.5mg/ml. Flavor is not impacted negatively at all. It seems like my flavors do not fade after time like with freebase nicotine. What I mean by this is I mix in 60ml batches usually and by the time I get through to the end of my bottle (about a week and a half to two weeks), I normally notice a distinct lack of flavoring.

Throat hit is drastically reduced, and it just seems more enjoyable in general to vape juice mixed with salts. I don't know how else to explain it, it's like an itch that I didn't know I had is being scratched and it's amazing.

Lastly, I have an issue with vaping which has persisted since I first quit smoking 6 years ago. I get pretty awful acid reflux from vaping. I have been taking nexium OTC to combat it for a while. Since I started using salts I have stopped needing to take my nexium, and it feels amazing to be normal and not need to worry about which foods I can eat or drink. So if you or anyone you know has acid problems from vaping, this might be the lifesaver you have been looking for.

Feel free to ask any questions you may think of.

Thanks for the review! I've been wanting to try this nic out for a while. Question: since its a lot smoother than normal nic, could you mix at a higher strength using salts and have the same/similar throat hit? I.e. Would 6mg/ml vape like 3?

I tried mixing at 6mg and I started to feel slightly ill from it. It was just too much. 4.5 is great for me like if I'm going to be drinking or something, and 3 is my normal every day vape. You could easily go higher than 6mg, throat hit isn't the limiting factor, at least for me. I believe their Smooth variation is an even milder throat hit.

Edit: to answer your question, with salts at 6mg the throat hit was less intense than freebase at 3mg.

any drawbacks?..

So far the only drawback I can see is the reduced throat hit. If you use lower concentrations like <3mg and really enjoy your throat hit, this probably isn't for you.

reduced throat hit sounds like a good thing for me.

They have a different salt for people who want hit, it's called Hit (as opposed to Signature or Smooth).

This might be a silly question, but how do you utilize the salts? You simply add it in your juice? How do you measure, the same way as liquid?

I'm pretty sure it's a liquid, just like normal nicotine. I think the difference is the nicotine formulation itself, but it's still mixed in vg/pg

Oh ok, I wasn't sure if it was a different medium or not.

Thanks for the response

Thanks for the review. I've been itching to sample some of this new salts.

Interesting about the acid reflux - for me, switching from smoking to vaping basically eradicated mine except for the odd bout here and there. Might need to give this a try.

Do you notice any difference to the nicotine 'buzz' with the salts? Stronger, weaker, different?

The first few days I was using it I was feeling the head rush feeling I used to get from smoking. If I set my vape down for a few hours and pick it up again, I get that same head rush. Definitely something going on with the salts that doesn't happen with freebase. Another thing about it is I don't often sit and chain vape like I used to, I get a satisfied feeling from puffing on it for a couple minutes that didn't happen for me with freebase.

Thanks for this review! I'd been holding off trying this nic until I saw a review here. Think I might pick some up shortly. :)

Thanks for the write up.

I'm really interested in this because I recently picked up a Juul (I like the small form factor and the ease of "it just works") and the only drawback it has for me is the pods are so damn expensive.

I believe this is the same idea that PAX uses for the nicotine in the Juul juice. I know this is a long shot, but have you or anyone else tried recreating Juul juice with nicotine salts? Using regular e-liquid with freebase nicotine is just so unsatisfying because you don't get the same amount of nicotine but is harsh. For context - Juul pods contain 50mg/ml nicotine. You don't take massive pulls off of it but instead tiny pulls, as if from a cig.

As a reference, you can look at the first post here. The rest of the thread is bitter, but the info is in the first post. '

I'd love to be able to recreate something like the juul juice. I would probably end up using the smooth variant.

I appreciate the links, but I've already read through them. I mentioned in my post that I've tried regular e juice at a higher nic, but like I said, it's not the same. More so looking to see if anyone has used nude nicotine salts for juul juice

Edit - just realizing now at the end of the first link, the guy said it was the nicotine salts, so I shall order away!

I haven't tried the juul yet. Honestly I don't intend to though. From what I understand of the juul, you should be able to refill the pods a few times with your own mixes using salts until the coils gunk up. You'd still need to buy pods but would extend their usage by at least 100 percent. If you're looking for 50mg mixes, you should probably go with the Smooth variant that NN offers. I feel like the Signature variant that I have would be somewhat harsh at 50mg, but again I am using a completely different device with a mostly different usage style.

I typically get acid reflux from PG-heavy juices. It's really bad with the cheap (think gas station, random Chinese company) juices. No issues with 100% VG juices.

Thanks for the review. Placed my order for this a week ago and I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I anyways mix at 3 nic and am happy to hear that this will make a difference in my juices. Can't wait to try it for myself!

I don't DIY, but this sounds really interesting and I'd like to give it a try. Maybe I'll just buy some juice in 0mg and mix some in. Will I have to let the nicotine steep for a bit before vaping?

Yes, but probably no more than a few days.

Do you think it's the vape or the nicotine causing the acid? I've noticed mine is really bad the last few months.

by ShutUpTurkeyabout 9 years ago

I'm almost sure it's the vaping in general. I've had many devices over the years, and I've gone from buying juice to making it myself, yet I've been dealing with this the whole time. I don't know exactly why I get this, but I know that for various reasons I've quit vaping for periods of time in the last 6 years, and the acid issue has gone with it.

Thanks for the insight. Its been getting really bad and I'm down to 1.5. Maybe time to drop that and get on the 0 and quit track because the acid is terrible.

Noticed a lot of replies about acid reflux. Had it bad as well & being a vapor for 4 years now kinda makes me think vaping is a contributor. You guys will benefit by looking into taking Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother. Bragg is the most popular brand. Pretty much eliminated my acid reflux to the point I do not have to take Prilosec anymore. There is a lot written about it in health sites. Now I vape to my hearts content. Good luck.

Thanks for the write up! I ,just like you, get a nasty reflux from vaping. As I hate being dependant on meds I refused to take anything for it. BUT, I did find ways to combat it that hopefully can help others. I find if I drink plenty of water, especially when vaping, it helps combat the reflux. So I just drink nothing but water and I mean a lot of water! Our body needs it anyway. Also, I've noticed if I vape immediately before eating, I get reflux bad after the meal. I avoid vaping 20-30 mins before meals and that seams to work. In addition I'm going to try these nicotine salts. That would be amazing if they cured the reflux issues! Thanks again.

I notice these are mostly PG based. Possible to mix the High Salt option with a VG Based NIC?

You know you're the only other person I've ever seen with the reflux issue. It gets so bad sometimes I can't swallow food. I'd been taking tuns as needed vs the standard acid blocker.

So when salts are ordered so you get the same ratio as you would with base ? Like I use 100 mg/ml base to boost some liquid. Nude nicotine base already has no throat hit so if salts are less that may be an issue for me. But to get past the acid reflux it may be worth it. Plus different builds can yield more throat hit anyway.

Thanks for the review - I figured I'd revive this thread rather than start another asking the same questions you've answered. Cheers buddy !

Also do You know if shelf life is different or storage needs to be changed and I wonder if diluting premade juice with it to boost nicotine is the same as with Standard 100 mg juice. I prefer high vg juice so I sometimes buy in volume at 6 mg and boost to 12 or 18. There typically isn't a big impact from 6-12. Beyond that the flavor gets polluted. Diluting 6 ml into 100 is pretty mild but going over 10% does screw things up with base nicotine. Obviously the juice varies. I vape a lot of different levels so I try to buy the average and mix out from there or make from concentrate.

I'd love to try this, but I can't get nude nic to ship to Canada :(
