So I recently downloaded a podcast app on my phone. Are there any particular episodes of "in the mix" & "beginners blending" you would recommend to a mixer with intermediate experience?
I think it was like 6 gigs worth or podcasts so just looking for any episodes or guest hosts that stood out as especially helpful/informative.

Even that one! lol They are all good and all worth listening to. I do a lot of driving visiting customers for work and listening to the BB episodes keeps me sane. Even as an intermediate you will pick up some good info. They are also worth listening to more than once as depending on what your goals are at the time you will pick up different little tips that weren't relevant to you last time you listened

Looking for a cereal flavour. I have only really mixed fruits in the past few years and happened to buy a bottle of Bad Drips Cereal Trip and I have fallen in love with the flavour profile.
Can someone point me in the right direction of a decent cereal / milky recipe?

What would cause my ejuice to be somewhat harsh on the first run through a tank but on the subsequent fills it is perfectly fine? The recipe is 4% FLV blueberry muffin, 1% TPA dulce de leche, 1% FA cookie & 1% FA bilberry. Happens on a couple of other recipes but 80%+ are fine for the first fill, that particular juice had been steeping for just under 2 months. Thanks.

A very conservative start huh? I like it. But if I am reading you correctly, a 30ml bottle is all you plan on making? You need at least 500ml, it goes fast. And I hope you already have recipes in mind?

Does Nonsterile matter with Pipettes?
I realized it after ordering, it's still sunday for an hour, can cancel, should I though?
I doubt you need sterile unless you're performing surgery. Just keep it clean and sanitized if you're worried about contamination.

American here, but I do see darkstar mentioned A LOT. And from my quick glance at that site it looks like one stop shopping. They even have some pre-blended "one shot concentrates". I don't see empty bottles, but there's always Amazon.
I used Vapable's starter kit to get started, everything you need to get a basic mix done. just dont use their flavours haha they're rank
- VG. Get this from Amazon or Lubrisolve - far cheaper.
- PG. Same as above.
- Nicotine 7.2% in PG or VG. Get it from Darkstar, best quality. Choose whichever one you want, though I suggest PG as a start point. Link here
- Flavourings. Whichever ones you like the look of. Good sidebar resource here
- Bottles. Get from anywhere, though again, cheaper from Amazon, ibottles.co.uk or ampulla.co.uk.
If you go the volume mixing route: Syringes (1ml, 2ml, 5ml and 10ml are all useful), Pipettes (Get these on Amazon or somewhere like that. DIY stores all charge a stupid markup on them and you'll go through a lot)

I know roughly what I need. I need to get some vg, pg and nicotine and concentrates but I don't know what brand or where from or how much is a decent price. I was under the impression all questions were allowed on this thread, I'm simply asking a question in the newbie thread, I just wanted to know what everyone starts off with.

Start with 2-3 recipes from the monthly threads or "best of" contests here. Also alltheflavors.com is a great site too. Try to pick those with POSITIVE feedback, as there are some real turds floating around. Then, buy just those flavors needed. And it is not uncommon to have to source from more than one vendor.

You're correct, my bad. This is supposed to be a safe zone, I just think its a big question with seemingly nothing to suggest you have done anything to help yourself in any way, but you're still right.
Do what the others have said and find a recipe you like the sound of before you do anything else.
Then if you want a one stop shop, use vapable.com for now. You will get pretty much everything you need from there to get going with a simple recipe, bases and nic. You can shop around later, just get going first of all. Start by mixing by weight, by volume is a PITA. You can get 0.01g scales on Amazon for less than £20.00. Between those two sites you can get everything you need to get started. If you want specifics, PM me and I'll list some things out for you
Looking to expand into pastries.. can anyone recommend a good flavour for a flaky pastry or similar? or even just throw a few good pie/crust/crumble flavourings out there that would help me a bunch
Repeating some of what has already been said but here are a couple of notes:
INW Biscuit for a lighter style of base at 1 to 2%, FA Cookie for a more prominent bakery base at 0.25 to 1%, CAP Sugar Cookie has a more fine sugary type of grain feel. Use between 3 and 4% combined with others to add sweetness and lightness or up to 8% on its own for the cookie flavour
When buying some juices sometimes the description says that when you inhale you get one flavor and when you exhale you get another, how do you achieve that?
I need help with a recipe I've been working on. I want a banana cream pie - and this recipe is perfect on the inhale. The problem is, there is effectively zero flavor on exhale! Any suggestions on what to add to give it that extra help?

I'm thinking a sweetener like dragonfruit or marshmallow, but wanted to narrow down the search.
Don't use either of those. If you're just looking for a good banana bread, my Bangin' Bourbon Bread is my highest regarded recipe. If you don't want to buy that many flavors,/u/chrisdvr1 made an homage to it using less flavors. It'll be missing some depth and special notes, but it's better than almost any other banana bread.
I love your recipes and I've been looking at B^3 for a while! That said, I'm really looking for more of a banana cream than a banana bread for this one.

New DIY'er here. Need some helping making recipes with the flavors I got from the Liquid Barn DIY kit. I've already made Strawberry Cheesecake on it's own, along with Creme Brulee on it's own. The only mix I did was Belgian Waffle (9%) Strawberry (6%) and Cream (3%). That one came out pretty well. I've done all with no nic and a 65 VG and 35 PG. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can make with the flavors below? Thanks !

Hi new Diy'er started last week and just gonna ask have some one made a strawberry TPA + strawberry (Ripe) only recipe ? Don't have PG yet but was wondering if a max VG with 5% Strawberry + 15% Strawberry (Ripe) would actually work.
To follow on to the other reply...I see your guesses at percents add up to 20%. I'm gonna guess you read something that said your flavourings should add up to 10-20%. That is incomplete information. Your overall flavor percentage is incidental. It's not even something to focus on. What is important is how each flavor tastes and behaves within its own usable percentage range. Then you stack your flavors. If you use so many flavourings that the total would exceed 20% then you may need to adjust everything down. In short, the fewer flavors in your recipe, then generally the lower your overall percentage will be in order to taste good.

I am in the process of trying to make a Dutch Apple pie recipe. I started by trying to make the whole pie at once but wasn't too successful so I decided to start with the filling first, then add the crust later.
Apple pie filling v3
• Anton apple (INW) 2.5%
• Fuji (FA) 2.5%
• Brown Sugar (TFA) 1%
• Liquid amber (FA) .5%
• Rich Cinnamon (FLV) .25%
I'm using fuji for the bright tart apple notes and the anton for the deeper sweeter "red apple notes". Liquid amber is to give it that gooey baked apple quality.
FLV Rich Cinnamon is the only cinnamon I tried that I thought tasted right for a pie filling. Cinnamon Ceylon tasted like red hots to me and CDS had too many bakery notes for a pie filling. CDS will probably come in a bit when I add the crust in.
My problem is that even at .25% the rich cinnamon over powers the apples. Generally I get a nice apple flavor on the first drag but after that its mostly Cinnamon. I know I could probably jack the apples up a few notches but I don't want my filling component to get to high since I will be adding crust later. .25% is as low as I can go and be accurate in a 15ml bottle.
So I'm guess I'm asking for a little help on my next iteration. Jack the apple up? start using RC dilutions? or anything else you guys (or galls) can offer would be appreciated.
Use rich cinnamon in drops. Typically, I won't add more than 2 drops of it per 30mL
I said on facebook that dipping a toothpick tip in the bottle and stirring your juice with that is enough for a hint of cinnamon in a 30mL.
I'm not a new mixer, but have a question. Most of the time when I mix something I'm using someone else's recipe and may make small changes here and there to suite my tastes. I wanted to start getting into making my own recipes. I have never made single flavors just to test, but recently bought a bunch of 5ml bottles so I could do just that. My question is when I'm doing to single flavor testers should I use the average or recommended percentage for each flavor or should I mix every flavor at the same percentage? Like lets say I mix everything at five percent, from there I could say "Wow, this flavor is really strong at 5 percent I should tone that down in the future." or "At 5 percent I can hardly taste this I'll need more."
Tldr: Should I mix testers at recommended percentages or a consistent percentage to start getting better acquainted with my flavors?
Go with your gut. If you've been mixing a while, you probably have a general idea of what a flavor does in certain ranges, and how strong certain types of flavors are. I'd say check ELR and ATF for averages, but just use them to confirm your own beliefs.
So I been mixing for 2 days now, followed 3 recipes, all good.
So I decided to make my own recipe(Mighty tasty but thats besides the point) and it has a crap ton of bubbles on top(I did shake it a lot), that normal?
It's been like this for 3 hours now, tried letting it breath also...for like an hour, they stay on the side even if I move the e juice, like they are stuck in place(Unless I shake hard, then they displace).
Should be fine. I notice different amounts of bubbles depending on the flavors sometimes, so that could be an extra factor apart from how much you've shaken it.

It's a sign that you gave your juice and arm a good workout. Well mixed, nothing to worry about there.
Note: Don't breathe liquids unless you literally cannot vape them because of strength. It kills most flavourings by allowing the volatiles to escape.
Hi. I'm super new to this and I'm trying to come up with a cereal juice that isn't overpoweringly lemon pledgey. This is what I have started with so far
TPA- Fruitloops w/milk 6%
TPA-Marshmallow 2%
TPA-STRAWBERRY ripe 2%
CAP- Super sweet .5%
TPA- sweet cream 2%
Now my question is the flavor is good. I enjoy the flavor. But it's almost no lemon whatsoever. So is there a suggestion to add to this to had a little lemon flavor to it? was thinking CAP lemon meringue. And im thinking of dropping the sttawberry to 1%. What are your guys' opinion?
Been at this for a little over a month now and have a question I haven't been able to find in a search.
Can cap-off breathing/steeping from one mix affect another if they're kept in the same location? For example, I'm experimenting with FLV Peanut Butter and it can overpower anything it contacts if you're not careful; should I be concerned about it off-gassing with other mixes, or am I overthinking this whole thing?
Cap off isn't needed, and is actually detrimental. The lighter flavor molecules escape. Very very few do benefit, IF they have a lot of ETOH, (looking at you TFA Pear), but even with those I still prefer cap on steeping for a couple weeks.
I remember reading the posts by u/Lolerwaffles regarding cap on / off, but had completely forgotten about them... Cap on solves it.

Like others have said, cap off is generally not needed. I only use it as a last resort if the juice I've mixed is way overflavored and I'm just trying to salvage it.
But, will it contaminate other nearby mixes? I dunno, I doubt it. Maybe if they were both inside a very small box/container together and both had the cap off you might get some contamination. It seems to me though, if the flavouring will readily evaporate off it shouldn't want to redissolve easily.
I wan try to practice my knowledege! When i want get a good mixer, i have start to vape every of my, round 90 Flavours(CAP, FA, TPA, most what u need, etc., ...), Also when i know a flavor will not smell nice as single. Has anyone tried blends from DIYE-LiquidSupplies?
I saw one posted mention their tobacco blends and said they were amazing. But has anyone really tried more than just a couple or perhaps their menthol or fruit line?
I really want to save money and switching back to cigarettes after being off them for going on 6 years is not really a great option... Both health and relationship wise.
I have like $50 I want to spend on juice, but I been kind of tired of searching for the "right" company. In terms of budget companies, I've tried: Dr. Crimmy's, Blue Dot Vapor, Haterade, Vape Caviar and I think one or two others. I have considered going with Northland, Om or Mitten, but even then, the prices are too much or I really want a 60-70vg mix for my subtank.
Thinking of getting a 10 pack blend kit and 30, 60 or 120ml bottles from diye-liquidsupplies, and then getting the VG, PG and a scale off Amazon.
Assuming the blends from diye-liquidsupplies are greater or equal to the quality of the above mentioned companies, then despite the steep upfront cost, I would at least have roughly 1000mls of juice up front and ready for the same cost of say 600mls bought from a company.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated, I haven't found another retailer that sells pre-blended flavoring.

Never heard of them and the website looks a tad funky. As a guess they're likely mixing TPA/FW concentrates bought in bulk into bases, especially at that sort of price. That said they could be using any kind of flavouring and since they don't appear to disclose - I'd be wary. It's not much cheaper to use them over the tried and tested ones.
If you want to try a flavour base, or a simple "one ingredient mix" type deal, check out the DIYorDIE concentrates. It may cost a little more but we know what goes into them.
This may sound overly cynical but it's best to be wary when it comes to this stuff.
That's what I thought initially, however a quick search in the DIY and Ecig Subreddits seem to have great reviews on them... Just never heard anything regarding their blends.
Their blends are made with TPA and FW.
I wouldn't go with blends if I knew what to make, but there's so many juices out there, and after going through a hundred different vendors since 2011... I really don't even know what I want... Even though I worked in the E-Liquid industry for 3 years... I really don't know where to start with making a personal stash.
Check eliquid recipes and alltheflavours. Check the top rated ones and have a bash at the ones that use the least amount of flavourings. The top rated ones typically use flavours that are quite common and well-tolerated by people so you should find another use for them.
If they use TPA/FW then I'd definitely give them a go. Have a bash with some tester 10mls and see how you get on. AT the very least you'll have something very cheap to vape. Most of us went through the testing phase trying to find out what we want, it doesn't take long to find a profile that fits. May take a little bit of initial investment, but far less than you'll end up paying for premade juice.
Should TFA Graham Cracker (Clear) have a bit of an amber tint to it? For some reason I assumed it would be colorless.
It can be clear or have a tinge. If it's deeply coloured then contact the supplier and ensure they didn't give you the wrong bottle.
It's almost identical in appearance to INW Grape if that helps visualize it. I don't know how common that grape is it just happens to be one I own that most looks like it.
Something weird is going on with my juice and it's puzzling me.
Last tuesday, I mixed up some 70VG juice with Real Flavors Baja Soda at 10%. Let it steep until thursday evening, giving it a few shakes now and then. Vaped it, awesome. Lots of flavour. Friday, good flavour. Since yesterday, barely anything. In my tank, in my dripper, SS, nickel, kanthal, clapton, doesn't make a difference. The flavour seems to have disappeared all of a sudden.

Building my first order to get into DIY. Nicotine will be from VapersTek and I noticed the 120ml bottles are pictured in something like a HDPE wide mouth child locked cap, like a vitamin bottle....
Coming from the e-liquid industry, I would prefer to just transfer it into 30ml glass dropper bottles and store in the back of my fridge.
Is it really shipped in a bottle like this or is it really in a glass bottle?

I'm obviously a noob. So I'll start here. I really want to make some basic mixes. Blueberry and maybe blueberry cream, peaches and cream Ect. I ordered everything I needed and I understand how to mix the nic/pg/vg. I'm just waiting for it to come in the mail now. What I'm really curious is how much flavoring I should be adding? Say I just want to make a bottle of basic blueberry, the impression I got some from some tutorials I read was to add about 4.5-6ml (15-20%) to a 30ml bottle... but when I read posts on here and do the math and what you guys combine for your recipes it seems to be less flavoring than that above percentage. Please let me know what you guys think before I go drowning my juice with too much flavoring. Thanks a bunch.
To give an example of what idiot said, 3-4% of FW Blueberry is plenty standalone, but twice that amount of tfa BB Wild is weak in comparison. There is no rule for total flavoring. For more in-depth info, search out a Modest Monday post by /u/vurve, that explains single flavor testing.
My 2 cents is to mix up some well regarded recipes and vape those while you go thru the wearisome but important steps of testing each one standalone.

This math is fucking with my head guys. I even think it's kinda impossible to mix what I want with what I have.
I started with a nicotine base 12mg 60 PG/30 VG/10 Water and a base with 60 PG/30 VG/ 10 Water. I was aiming for 3mg liquid i.e. 12 base + 4 nic + 1,6 flavour. Easy enough.
Now I wanted to start mixing with higher VG levels so I was thinking about getting some 99.5 VG / 0.5 Water. How can I get all of this stuff into a liquid that's about 3-6mg 80 VG / 20 PG (minus some to account for the water).
Should I just get new ingredients altogether?
First of all, why water? Avoid it if you don't have a real reason for using it.
Are you using a calculator? If not, use one, 'cause fuck doing manual math if you don't need to.
I wouldn't say throw out your stuff and buy all new stuff but it would make it easier. Next time, get 100% PG, 100% VG and 80/20PG to 70/30PG nicotine in as high mg as you feel comfortable working with. 100mg is most flexible so if you can be safe about it, use that.
At the very least pick up some 100% VG and you'll be able to do 75VG at 3mg with the nic you have if you only use 10% flavouring. For now, include the water in the PG percentage to make the math a bit easier.

I am currently in Canada and use nicotine from DIY flavours but was wondering if there was any other possibly better nicotine vendors out there for Canada thanks.
I'm in Canada as well but bought my nic from Carolina Extracts in the US. excellent product. But when I was looking to purchase nic in Canada I realized most vendors wont tell you what brand they are reselling. Makes it difficult to evaluate. However, the Broke Vaper sells NicSelect, and apparently its quite good. Seems to be about the best "brand name" that can be purchased in Canada and he's one of the few who will actually divulge the kind he is selling. So I would go with him. Not to mention, he's a good guy and carries a lot more of the flavour lines than he used to. I also bought my PG and VG from him.

I haven't tried any of those. Got my flavours (the usual suspects) from Gremlin and BCV in the US mostly. And Flavorah directly. Havent really had to order much in Canada. Are you near a border at all? I ship to a US PO Box and pick up there. Or Im often in the US and ship direct to the house there.
This is gonna sound totally stupid, but where in Canada do you go to get the syringes and needles? I bought Broke Vaper's starter kit, and I kind of assumed it'd have that. Now I have all this base and nic and flavour and no way to measure it. Is there somewhere that won't put me on a drug diversion watchlist to get the tools I need?
LOL, I hear you :) I measure using a scale (the one that's always recommended on here) LB-501 I believe it is. Its about 50 bucks CDN on amazon. But half that on Amazon US site, like most everything else I ordered for mixing! Or you can buy one at places like Walmart cheap enough. Just make sure it goes down to .00 Most flavors (bottles) I ordered have the drip tip type of tops so it makes it very easy to measure/mix by just carefully "dripping" drops into your bottle on your scale. A few don't come with tops like that; like the Holy Vanilla. And my nicotine of course. So I bought a large package of transfer pipettes. Cheap, disposable, and easy to use. So no washing of syringes is needed. At the same time I ordered my disposable gloves from Amazon as well. A huge pack is much cheaper than buying them at HD or CT. I wear those all the time when handling the nicotine. I also ordered 15 and 30ml bottles but I think those I bought off Amazon US. But Broke Vapers bottles are good as well and not marked up like crazy. He offers them the same price as Fasttech I believe. I have bought those from him as well. To add my PG and VG I just use smaller bottles; easy to pour and measure and not be bothering with drawing heavy VG with a syringe. So I only have to use the pipettes for easy "liquids" like nicotine. So no syringes for me at all.
Back to your question of where to get this stuff in Canada....Amazon has just about everything you need. Just put together one bigger order for everything at once and get free shipping. Most DIY places also carry the transfer pipettes but they were a fair bit more than I could get them on Amazon. I haven't looked at Broke Vapers site lately, but I thought he was going to be carrying the pipettes? Maybe not. You can also go into any pharmacy and buy syringes, without being put on a watchlist lol. If you are not mixing by weight you will definitely need a good supply of pipettes or syringes and then if using syringes, you need to wash those so as not to transfer flavour. And use one dedicated for nicotine only, mark it somehow with a marker or tape.

Can I use Citric Acid to replace lemon in a recipe? If so how much would one use? I read 1/4 tsp per 10ml is a good start. Basing it off that could I use it 1:1 in a recipe calling for lemon?
No. It's easier to just pick a lemon flavor.
No, CA doesn't even taste of lemon. And futhermore doesn't do much for juice, except mute it. What kinda lemon are you looking for? Candy, sour, just a hint or strong?
I found a recipe for peanut butter cup and lemon was the only thing I didn't have.
8% peanut butter 8% double chocolate clear 4% graham cracker 2% marshmallow 1% lemon
But I do prefer a sour lemon probably.
I know that recipe, it is an old one. One of the first ones I tried when I started mixing. It never was supposed to be lemon, it was originally CA. I made it without, and it was really good. Tastes just like a reeses cup. BUT I burned out real quick, never made it thru a whole bottle. It's def a "must try" at least once tho. Given that it is a couple years old, I believe you could halve everything and still be the same.
I'm hoping someone can help. We have a bottle of 0mg juice. It's max VG so I think it's 80/20. The bottle size is 30ml. We want it to be 6mg nicotine. I have a bottle of nic juice that is 36mg nicotine in 50/50 pg/vg. How many grams of the nic juice would we add? The calculators are not helping in this instance since I already have the juice or it may be I'm not using it correctly. Thanks.
6 ml or 6.89 grams. I just used the calculator on e-liquid-recipes and adjusted the "amount to make" up until the original juice component was up to 30ml.
Thanks. So I used that calculator and it came up with 5 ml or 5.74 grams of the nicotine and 25 mg of VG dilutant (which would be my juice) so if I remove 5 mg of the Vape Flakes (my juice) and added the 5.74 grams of the nic, I think that would do it.
None of this makes any sense. First we'd need to know the mls of your bottle of nic juice to know how concentrated it is. I'm going to assume it's a 30ml bottle like your Vape Flakes. That means you would need to remove 5mLs of Vape Flakes and replace with with 5mLs of nic juice to get a 6mg concentration of nicotine. Note this is 5 mLs and not 5 grams.
Your new pg/vg ratio would be very close to 75/25, but this doesn't account for the flavor.
This is my first recipe, and comes with a lot of help from /u/usernamesare4losers. In fact, it's damn near an adaptation.

First Vape - Strawberry candy, kiwi fruit, artificial vanilla, strawberry-kiwi Snapple. Dense mouth feel, slight cream feel on the lips. Minor perfumed aftertaste -- will steep and review. May lower FA Kiwi and TPA Kiwi (Double) in future versions.

Hello! New to Reddit & DIY !!! Two questions; 1.The recipe I'm following has 1% lemon. Is this juice? Or flavoring? ?? 2. Do i need PG?? My base/nic mix is all VG, and so are my flavorings. Would a little PG improve anything? Thank you in advance!
