After many requests from formulators asking us to sell our USP Grade 1,3-Propanediol separately from VaporBase, it is now available on our website at this link: https://liquidlabs.us/product/13-propanediol-usp/
PDO is a great natural alternative that can be used in place of PG when making your e-liquids. It can be very hard to source and does cost quite a bit more than PG; but if you're looking to create PG-free liquids that aren't a max VG mix, this is your ticket!

Many of you know about PDO already, but for those of you that don't, here's a quick rundown:
-
PDO is a corn-based Glycol that carries and enhances flavors just like PG does.
-
PDO is an isomer of PG, which means it has the same number of molecules, just arranged in a slightly different order.
-
PDO is made from corn, whereas PG is made from petroleum.
-
PDO has the same color, viscosity, and scent as PG.
-
PDO will blend easily with all types of flavor concentrates whether they are PG, VG, or PDO based.
-
PDO can react slightly different with certain flavors, but acts the same with a majority of them.
-
PDO has almost no throat hit. Much smoother than PG.
-
PDO has a shelf life of 1-2 years at room temperature, and much longer if you decide to freeze it during storage.
Our prices are much lower than other vendors I've seen selling PDO online. We offer it anywhere from 30ml all the way up to 55gal+.
- 30ml: $1.95
- 120ml: $3.82
- 500ml: $10.10
- 1000ml: $15.63
- 1 gallon: $43.01
- 5 gallon: $186.56
- 55 gallon: $1,789.41
We're currently running a Labor Day sale for 25% off every product in our online store. That includes the 1,3-Propanediol. So if you'd like to try it out with your own recipes, just enter promo code LABORDAY2016 at checkout to save some cash!
Quick question: We have decades of use of PG as an inhalant carrier to prove its safety for inhalation. Even though PDO is an isomer, what do we know about its safety?
Not as much research has been done on PDO compared to PG, but clinical studies have been performed on rats and they were not harmed in the process: https://ntrl.ntis.gov/NTRL/dashboard/searchResults/titleDetail/OTS0571328.xhtml
Thanks for the info and straightforward response. I've got some on order from you guys, and looking forward to giving it a shot.
This is great of you and potentially very good for those of us with a mild PG sensitivity. I don't need to go PG Free myself but I get increased Rosacea symptoms above ~15%, PDO may fill a dilutant gap for someone like me.
Weird. I got that when I started mixing 70/30 vg/pg instead of 50/50. Though I do find certain vg makes my skin dry out more than others.
Maybe I should ask Dick Rippers what brand of electrolytes he recommends this month to keep me hydrated.
Certain formulations heavy on VG might be drying out your skin because glycerin is hygroscopic; it sucks in and holds onto moisture.
This was happening to me too with certain formulas, I just started drinking more water (always a good idea anyway) and it cleared up for me.
Yeah, I found if I used vg from the supermarket it dried me out no matter how much water I had to drink, but vg from my local (well, as local as I can get) vendor didn't. I drink no less than 3 litres a day on account of vaping drying my throat out, but cigarettes did that too so no changes in water intake really.
This is great news for me, as I like a thinner, high nic combination, but sometimes 50/50 AND 12mg nic is a bit harsh. Thank you.
Do you happen to know the polarity of it?
I don't off hand. I could ask our chemist and find out though.
This might be a dumb question (hangover) but I mix by weight so...is PDO the same as PG in terms of density for calculations and measurements? For example PG @1.038 g/ml.
that sounds really interesting, any chance to pay you with paypal?
Yes! You can buy it from our eBay listing here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USP-Grade-1-3-Propanediol-PDO-Corn-Based-Glycol-Propylene-Glycol-Alternative-/282158127299?_trksid=p2352135.m2548.l4275
Prices on that listing are more expensive than on our site because we had to add a flat shipping charge to each variation. Could be more or less expensive depending on your location.
If you buy from eBay, PM me on here and I'll make sure to go in and return the amount equal to our 25% off Labor Day discount that's running right now.
so nudenicotine is getting an order out the door before y'all are that I made on the same day.
"slower than nudenicotine" is not something a company wants to be.
As stated on each product page, our turn around time is 3-5 days. Keep in mind we had a 4 day weekend and our staff was off Friday and Monday. Try and be a bit patient, your order will ship this week!
I'd checked before posting, it's not stated on the PDO page.
Oh damn you're right. I'll have to have our web guy fix that up. Sorry for the confusion =/
The reason we have a 3-5 day production time is because our product is manufactured in a lab that also makes hundreds of other e-liquid products. So every order that comes in has to go in line behind whatever else is on the production schedule.
Maybe free shipping on 30ML will attract some DYi'ers. I would totally give this a day in court and a review if offered with free or even discounted shipping. Lets test this product!
