If you want to go through the trouble, /u/BrinNutz and /u/ID10-T collaborated on a glazed donut recipe that doesn't use CAP Glazed. You can find it here. I have yet to try it, but I'd probably mix about anything these guys post.

/u/chrisdvr1 used that to derive a orange glazed donut recipe and I'm sure you can swap the orange out for whatever fruits you prefer if you're wanting to go that route.

I'd suggest purchasing CAP Sweet Strawberry, TFA Strawberry, TFA Strawberry Ripe, and FA Red Touch for your strawberry, with TFA Bavarian Cream, FA Fresh Cream, and CAP New York Cheesecake as your cream. TFA Strawberries and Cream isn't that great as a standalone.

Alternatively, you could purchase the flavors for /u/notcharlesmanson's Strawberry Shortcake Bar, as it's probably the best strawberry cream recipe floating around right now. There is also /u/fizzmustard's Mustard Milk, which is fantastic as a 2-ingredient recipe, but one of the ingredients can be offensive to those sensitive to a specific aroma. If you want something simple that you can tweak, check out my recipe, Cliche, it's very similar to mustard milk, but with a base designed to replace flavors.

For prediluted base, you want to buy a higher concentrate than your target strength, because adding flavors will drop your nicotine concentration. Suggested to purchase a bottle of PG and VG to go with the prediluted base.

You can freeze it, but with prediluted bases it's not very necessary because dilutions oxidize much slower than 100mg/mL.

It is meant to be condensed milk (FA does Condensed Milk - pretty potent), but I would guess that there are other creams in the mix and a hell of a lot of sweetener.

When you are using multiple flavors you may need something at a very low percentage. For example, you aren't going to want to use INW Biscuit at 8%

You sound like you have not done any reading or research on something that is not as simple as add a little this, a little that, and you're done. You will benefit tremendously from taking a few hours to read everything in the sidebar prior to purchasing anything or mixing anything.

What kind of milkshake are you looking for?

Holy Vanilla is all I get from them, but they do usually send a few smaller samples of their other flavors. The ones I got were donut, yummy bear i think and like a watermelon. Haven't bothered to try any of them.

I'm not from the UK, but I know there are quite a few threads about people buying bottles in the UK. I'd type "uk bottles" into the searchbar in this sub and see if you can find anything that way.

When I used VG nic I would just let it sit out and come to room temp then shake the shit out of it and put it back in the freezer after use. No problems at all. 50/50 nic is much much easier, though.

I don't have any suggestions on a different scale but if you like everything about that scale besides the platter size, you could always get a thicker piece of plexiglass and put that on the scale and use that as your mixing surface. Not exactly a solution but it is a work around.

Even if you were using 15 liters of straight vg it would only weigh 44lbs~, so you have 11lb of wiggle room.

It's triacetin with other emulsifiers. It can be used in any profile that you feel needs to have the flavors blend better.

I'm not sure if these are unpopular enough for you or not, but I don't see too many recipes using INW Lemon Mix (very natural lemon, very much a gem to me), FA Lime Distilled (sweet but zesty, almost fizzy lime), FA Citrus Mix (mostly grapefruit, with some lemon, lime, and orange in the background), or FA Mangosteen (tastes like a combination of sour grape, sweet peach, and just a hint of vanilla).

TFA Peach juicy is amaze.

As for the coils, you're right! I never really linked the two together but you're right, hate buying coils all the time for my nautilus.

Capella is the only Green Apple I have tried, I like it about 5% standalone. 2-3% in a mix.

TFA Sweet Raspberry is mighty fine at 4%, or less in a mix. And also pick up INW Raspberry Concentrate, but start LOW with this one, .5% and work up by half percents. Combine the 2 like I did here for an awesome raspberry.

There are so many good strawberries that most of us have several different ones. Here are some must haves in no particular order: Jungle Flavors Strawberry Sweet (only at ecigexpress.com, but worth it). TFA Strawberry Ripe, Cap Sweet Strawberry, INW Strawberry Shisha.

Cherry is hard for me, but if I had to pick one it's FA Black Cherry. Start 1% or less. idk about tutti-frutti.

And I'll add a disclaimer by saying to always buy the smallest bottle of any new flavor, regardless of the hype.

Cherry has a reputation for being tricky. I have had some luck with INW Cherries. An OK Cherry Lime at 2.2℅ and as a back note to CAP Hibiscus at 1.3℅. It has a bit of an artificial feel... I would compare the taste to Ludens cherry cough drops. It is the only cherry I have tried so far but I could see it working well with a menthol.

INW Anton Apple is a really green green apple and their raspberry is wonderful. I mostly agree with /u/Coop34 about the strawberries with one exception, if you get JF Strawberry Sweet, then CAP Sweet Strawberry is not a "must have" - because the JF Strawberry Sweet tastes like CAP Sweet Strawberry wishes it tasted like. Good luck with the cherry.

It really depends on what you are making and which flavors you are using but I rarely go above 12%

When I do a single flavor taste for the first time I will often use the mean/median ℅ from ELR as guidance.

I agree with /u/EdibleMalfunction, it is really just dependent on the flavorings you are using and what you are making. Though, I do try to keep my total flavoring as low as I possibly can while still maintaining the flavor profile I'm going for.

It really depends on which flavors you're using. Some are more concentrated than others. One of my favorite recipes has only 4% flavor. Plenty of great recipes have 15 to 20% flavor. I even tried one that had 30% flavor and it tasted delicious, though it gunked the hell out of my coils. Generally if you are using TFA/CAP/FW flavors, you're most likely going to find a sweet spot of total flavor % in the 11 to 14% range, I think. Using FLV flavors will likely bring that down a little. Using mostly FA and INW flavors will bring it down a lot.

If you're looking for what percentage to try new flavors to get a taste for them, it varies. The manufacturer is a good clue as to the right amount to use, but there are major exceptions. I like to try my new flavors at three or more different %'s, to get an idea of their range. One, a low percentage to see how present it is. Two, an estimated optimal % for that flavor. And three, pushing it higher to see if any icky off-notes pop out. How to know which those numbers are? Look at the high, low, and mean/median %s used on ATF or, less optimally because there are some stupid high %'s there, on ELR. Also searching here for that flavor (especially if there's a flavor review of it on the wiki) and finally, just asking. New mixer's questions thread is supposed to be a place where you can ask anything, and I don't think "What is a good percentage to try this flavor standalone?" is a bad question to ask here.

If the flavor is weak, yes, you CAN do that, but the problem is, it will be difficult to determine how much you added, so your end product will not be easy to replicate. However, if you just don't want to waste the juice, sure, go ahead and add a few drops. Just make a note somewhere of what % was weak and that you had to add a few drops, so that you won't make the same mistake twice.

I hate that 10-20% gets tossed around in such a cavalier fashion, like it's some kind of a target or something. As others have mentioned, it's totally dependent on the individual flavors and how many there are. If you grab 2 flavors and try to make a 15 or 20% it will most likely taste like ass. Fewer flavors usually ends up at the bottom end of the percentage scale. Most of the 20%-ers I've seen are the ones with 10-15 individual flavors at .5-2% each. TL;DR: Don't mix to a specific total percentage. Find the usable range for your individual flavors.

If you want the strong banana, get TFA banana ripe and mix it with TFA banana cream and vanilla bean ice cream.

Simple Banana Milk:

TFA Banana Cream 4%

LA Banana Cream 1.5%

TFA Bavarian Cream 1%

TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 3%

TFA Dairy 2%

It's recommended to not use nicotine, because it may skew the flavor slightly. However, I use nicotine in all my tests because I plan to use nicotine in the final versions, so I need to know how everything holds up when nicotine is introduced.

You're correct about spaced coils. If you build too low and too hot, you lose some of the finer notes of fruits. If you build too high, you miss out on the heavy flavors of creams and pastries, and even some fruits. I've found the sweet-spot to be 26g kanthal spaced dual coils. It comes to around .45 ohms and I use that at 60W. The best way I've found to make a build have the same exact spacing is to make a single parallel coil, then just twist the two strands apart and you have 2 coils that are an exact copy of each other.

I love the flavor I get from fused claptons. Think I found my sweet spot with 28/36.

Drop the cupcake to 6%, and the raspberry to .5 or 1%. TFA raspberry is strong and soap-like when used too high; i suggest buying TFA raspberry sweet, it's much easier to use.

You need to research diketones and vaping. Some people on here don't want the added risk; they avoid diketones by going with the V2 flavors. Others (such as myself FWIW) have decided that the enhanced taste is worth the risk that these might be dangerous.

I don't think many would argue that any of the V2s taste as good as the V1s.

In most cases uses the same % of V2 if the recipe calls for V1.

Just as an aside - I avoid diketones (V1 versions) since they all have a horrid taste to my palate. the V2 versions taste good to me but they do need a horrendously long steep. Cap VC V2 needs a good 6 weeks before I can vape it, but it's delicious to me.

I'm in the minority though, my olfactory is a little funky.

I've never seen the caps by themselves. I just buy the bottles. They are cheap enough that it doesn't matter to me.

This is purely my opinion but I don't honestly feel that changing from say... 40/60 to 20/80 makes an appreciable difference flavour-wise. I'd focus more on using a mix that will work best in the equipment you have. I made the mistake of putting 80vg in my Kayfun 4 once - I only did it once. Dry hit from hell.

I think it really depends on whether you're looking to get into a new hobby or just want to save money.

30ml/month is a very low cost already.

Getting into DIY mixing is going to require a decent sized investment. I'm about $110 deep in flavors, $30 scale (gotta have it!), $50 for nic, pg and vg. And I just got started. There's lots more flavors I'd love to try.

The good news is I've mixed up some great recipes, and I go through 5-10ml a day. So I've about broke even already.

As for the nude starter kit, nope. It's filled with a bunch of stuff I'd never use.

Bavarian Cream: Buttery, rich, smooth with a tinge of vanilla

Vienna Cream: Creamy vanilla, which can be used to create the illusion of a milkshake, ice cream or milk

Fresh Cream: usually used in conjunction with Vienna Cream to create milk. straight, unsweetened cream

Sweet Cream: Adds a cheesy dairy note. Useful for yogurts and milks.

You can mix anything as a single flavor. In fact, you should do that for every flavor to understand each flavor before you throw them in a recipe with other ingredients. CAP Sugar Cookie is fine by itself from 3-5%.

I have no experience with solubarome, though. Maybe try it at 5% and report back with how it goes since I haven't seen any mention of solubarome in this sub. You are now obligated to help non-US mixers by reporting back with reviews of solubarome flavors :)

Some people react to the Linalool in it. If it's that bad I suggest using a different peach flavoring. If it's just a minor harsh feeling to you, you could use it along with another peach

Not sure about disliking them - that's more a personal taste than a problem but many people simply can't taste strawberry very much in vapes. I'd try INW Shisha Strawberry and JF Sweet Strawberry. Much more pronounced.

I realize this is a DIY forum, but out of curiosity, do you have a similar dislike for premium juices that also contain strawberry? Do you tend to dislike things like strawberry candies, strawberry pop-tarts, etc?

What equipment are you looking to clean?

I soak everything in dish soap + hot water for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with more hot water. I dry everything with paper towels, so I don't end up with water mineral residue, and let it air for an hour. Glass can be cleaned with boiling water or even an alcohol soak, but I never felt that was necessary.

If you go to this link, it shows the most popular flavors overall, from different companies, etc. You can typically find answers to any questions you have in the sidebar and that's why we all tell new mixers to read through the sidebar. It's packed full of knowledge.

I'd also recommend visiting the monthly recipe threads to look for recipes you think fit your flavor preference then ordering those flavors required to make that recipe. You should also check this thread out to see if any of these top recipes tickle your fancy.

Don't just go out and buy a bunch of random flavors. Find highly rated recipes, buy the required ingredients and build your flavor stash that way until you are more comfortable picking out your own flavors.

The way that Wayne(and most people) mix is using PG based flavors at 1g/mL.

Precision is easier to attain reproduce, so the accuracy doesn't matter all that much.(if 15% of a flavor is actually 14.44%, it doesn't matter so long as the 15% you measured is always actually 14.44%)
