Jungle Flavors - Pink Burst [review]
submitted about 9 years ago by bobbysavageResident Tobacco Specialist

Ok so ecig express has been busy cranking out some flavors. I haven't had a chance to try them all and dont have them all in front of me.

One flavor that stood out was Pink Burst, which I can only assume is pink starburst or strawberry taffy.

To be blunt: I think this might be jungle flavors version of Capellas strawberry taffy flavor, but haven't actually tried that one. I did notice I had some other Jungle Flavors that seemed like renditions of other popular choices such as biscuit and Fuji. Those two struck me as smelling better than their original counterparts. This isn't the first time I've seen manufacturers release similar flavors such as fa's soho which seems like a clone of INW's scamel. Competition between manufacturers benefits consumers.

On to the review...

Pink Burst 2% in 70/30 vg/pg on dual coil low resistance rda

Hmm I don't really like Pink starburst (I ate some last week) but this actually tastes better than the candy. I Still get a. Strawberry taffy/candy taste from this. However on my setup the vape is warm, and warm starburst flavor is kinda weird to vape.

Koolada might help that. Oddly enough I like the strawberry banana starburst and have high hopes for recreating that. My girlfriend loves pink Starburst so this flavor is definitely a winner in my book. however it's not a single flavor vape to me and that's fine.

ECX accomplished what they set out to do on this one. It's good, but I feel like they really hit the ball out of the park with their juicy lemon flavor. They also offer a regular strawberry flavor that was decent, but ultimately didn't stand out to me vs the other manufacturers out there which are all really similar.

I might try 3% for dripping higher VG mixes.

Sorry for the weird formatting Im doing this on the phone. (Deal wit it auto mod)

Jungle Flavor Biscuit is a good one , just like Inawera's imo. Juicy Lemon like you said is excellent as well.

Biscuit is almost exactly like INWs. A little bit different though, & definitely a bit less buttery.

Probably stick with Inawera's then .

It's a good flavour, but seems weak to me at 3% max vg shake & vape and also after a 5 day steep. Also seems pretty weak when adding it to mountain dew. You could honestly probably go up to 4 or 5% max vg standalone. I've even seen ECX recipes in my email that use it at 3% in a 6-ingredient recipe.

Real starbursts use citric acid, so about .1-.2% of a 10% citric acid blend may or may not also help improve flavour.

Agreed it is kind of a weak flavor, I normally do 50/50 and think I tested this on quad coils haha So much surface area. Im vaping multiple mixes right meow, so I was thinking my palate was rekt.

I've never played around with citric acid, I've become the laziest DIYer. Like almost too lazy to be addicted to nicotine.

Also at first glance pink burst/mntn dew sounds kinda weird but ultimately a pretty good combo. I might have to start playing around with 7ups.

I just recently got in ss316 clapton wire, so instead of running 28+28/32g fused claptons I'm rocking 24g/36g dual claptons. Flavours marginally better over kanthal with the ss, but yeah so much surface area with a dual 10-wrap at 3.175mm ID(1/8th inch)

Your palates not riggity riggity rekt & neither is mine, lol.

Acids are kinda overrated, but they do help in some mixes. The problem is 99% of mixers use faaaar too much acid.

I first thought that was kinda weird too, but it's pretty good lol. Still slowly increasing the amount I add though to find that sweet spot in dew because it's such a weak concentrate. Def play around with it & other combos, I usually test new fruits in Dew before I get the chance to mix em up and vape em.

Nothing to do with flavor but do you get a different kind of firing on the SS claptons? I made identical gauge sizes as my 26gkanthal/40g nichrome subbing both those for SS. Not that it was bad but just didn't fire up the same.

It very well may be Capella's strawberry taffy. ECX likes to rename their brands (Signature = TFA, Lotus Flower= Medicine flower, etc) I have the Capella version and so far am not impressed. It's definitely not a stand-alone flavor to me either. Ironically enough I tried to use it to make a Strawberry Banana Taffy. Neither blend I made came out well. I'm not sure if I just haven't found the right mixing point/percentage or what.

ECX took control of the Jungle Flavors brand. These newer flavors are their own formulations; not rebrandings.

You sure 'bout that? Fuji and Biscuit taste awfully familiar.....

Very sure. JF Fuji has a little less "bite" and their biscuit is a little less buttery than INW. Bavarian Cream is more "full" than TFA. Haven't tested the RY4D yet.

Unless they're lying when they relay the message "Sample these 5 new Jungle Flavors! We have modeled them after several of the best versions of these flavors on the market, and we are confident that these versions take the cake". That was a note left for those who received samples, signed by the ECX flavor lab.

If that isn't enough, they have publicly stated that they took over JF and are re-modeling some popular flavors. Sweet Strawberry was their first one. You can read about it in Wayne's newest strawberry ice-cream recipe. He has high regards towards it.

Yes, to me, their Fuji smells exactly like FA Fuji, but I think that is the point. I haven't gotten around to trying it but I'm hoping it has some rounded out edges (though there really isn't much wrong with FA's version, it could still stand to see some improvement).
