Bavarian cream [TFA]
submitted about 9 years ago by Chrisdvr1Proud Sidebar Reader!

Setup

RDA/ Velocity Coil/ 6 Wrap Single Fused Kanthal Clapton 2×26 core 32 wrap W/ 45 Wicking/ Full Rayon Ω/0.26

Testing

Steep Time/7 weeks % Used/ 5 PG/VG 50/50 Nic%/0

Mouthfeel

Heavy on the tongue right on the nose with a moderately dense mouth feel 7 out of 10.

Creamy smooth and has a Airy mouth feel.

Throat Hit 4/10

Flavor Properties

Very sweet and buttery cream. Heavy on the diary reminds me of custard flavorings with a moderate vanilla flavoring.

Relatable Flavors

Remind me of Boston cream pie fillings, and the gooey inside of a toasted marshmallow.

Position In The Recipe

A excellent base flavoring for any cream recipe. Can also be used to accent sweet and creamy notes and other cream flavorings by keeping the percentage low.

Off Flavors

None

Pairings

Bakeries, creams, tobaccos, candies, cereals, fruit flavorings, and spices to name a few. (the list is pretty much anything in your inventory)

Recipe

Obviously not one of mine but have been enjoying this recipe as of late. Be forewarned the 10-day steep seems to take forever.

Notes

This is an incredibly useful and versatile flavoring that every mixer should have in their collection, I personally prefer the flavor West offering it is slightly weaker and much sweeter. That said you're not always looking for sweetness when trying to hit that creamy profile.

I always avoid looking these up until after I've written a review, and enjoy finding out something I did not know before that explains some of my perceptions on the flavor.

And as always where I got mine.

You suck. I was totally interested in learning more about the band, Cream, but when I clicked on that link it was just a stupid article about Bavarian Cream that I've already read.

Also,

> Off Flavors: None

Am I the only one who tastes maple when this is used at a high enough %? Not necessarily a bad thing, depending on what you're after, but I taste it.

Last night, I cracked open Snake Skin only a few days into its steep to go with my imperial stout. So freaking delicious! I'm glad I finally decided to pick up bavarian cream after a year of mixing.

Awesome, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Which one was that again? The kiwi one? If you thought it was good after three days you really need to save some for next week.

I might have already told you this story, but I'm going through all my recipes and adding them to ATF whenever I've got a few minutes. Most are still very WIP, but the few I think might be worth sharing I've made public. I made that whole serpentine series a long time ago. They could almost certainly be improved now that I've got more flavors and experience, but I still think they're pretty good and they're successful in the sense that what they were meant to be: improved versions of Seduce Juice's "snake" line. Well, that's what Oil, Venom, Bite, and Eyes (pear, peach, apple, and banana/cinnamon) are. Blood, Skin, and Pit were never made by Seduce Juice but should have been, because strawberry, kiwi, and to perhaps a lesser degree, watermelon, all sit really well on top of that Bavarian Cream/coconut base. Seduce Juice did make another serpentine sauce, Snake Charmer, but I never remade it because I hated it. However, now that I have better mangoes to work with it's a safe bet that I'll try to tackle that one pretty soon.

Yeah it is the kiwi one. I dripped it a couple times and grudgingly put it back in the box. Now I just have to save myself one of these beers for when it is ready because the pairing is divine. I'm pretty excited for Snake Charmer. On that note, I much prefer Tamamango after a few days (as opposed to s & v) and an official review of your frosted lemonade is coming soon.

You should know by now I usually only test that the one percentage then go back and have things in if I learn something as for the typo whoops 😘

Oh yes, I just want to know whether I'm alone, and if not, for people to know that if their juice tastes mapley it might be too much TFA Bav Cream.

Also,

I definitely get maple from it. I use it at 3% in my custard recipe and get hints of maple but I'm not complaining.

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Bad ass review. Couldn't agree more. This is one of my favorite flavors overall and my go to for creamy addiction to flavors.

How do you think it compares to TFA cheesecake (Graham Cracker Crust)? Like if I want a fruit and cream, what do you think would be the main differences between the two, b/c I've always used cheesecake over Bavarian cream. I've always seen BC as a supplementary cream, not a main note, but I've never tried it by itself.

TFA cheesecake graham crust imparts maltiness. It also has a slight cheesiness to it. TFA Bavarian Cream is buttery, creamy, rich with a slight vanilla tinge. You can't use it as a main note because going above 3% will give you a chemical taste.

I have only used CAP's cheesecake so I really couldn't say :( I'm sorry I can't be more help and hopefully somebody else can chime in with a better response.

However compared to CAP's cheesecake, I'd say it's much smoother and less sharp- if that makes sense.

Bavarian cream is one of THE BEST CREAMS OF ALL TIME!!!

(use it in all my creamy berry recipes, pairs well with fresh cream FA and vanilla bean I Tfa)

TFA Bavarian Cream is a staple ingredient, used in almost all of my recipes (I make mostly dessert and bakery recipes). It is one of the few flavors I buy in 120 mL bottles instead of 30 mL bottles.

New mixer here, tried Bavarian cream in some ry4d mixes but it doesn't come nearly as smooth and creamy as vanilla bean ice cream, as I found out later. Am I wrong, should I give it another go with higher than 4%? I'm thinking it's a tad too sweet and dairy.

First you got to go with what works for you there are a lot of people in here that do not VBIC says they taste a spicy pepper a note.

Personally I think a combination of both is great, tobacco recipes can be tricky

5% Bav. Cream, 5% Kiwi Double, 5% mango (all TFA).

One of the first recipes I ever made on my own a couple years ago. Had a request for it a few weeks back by a customer after forgetting about it. Could use some tweaking for sure but I cant stop from having a bottle on hand at all times since .

Freaking love that bavarian cream

I've been steeping that flavor myself for a while. To me, it has a very strong licorice/alcohol flavor that seems to be fading little by little over time. We'll see what next week's sampling sees it tasting like.

It's as old as computers. But I might be the first to apply it to the maple note in TFA Bav Cream.
