Nude Nicotine Signature and the JUUL
submitted about 9 years ago by station_nine

I just mixed up a batch of Capone Clone for my JUUL, using NN Signature. I am impressed with this nicotine. I mixed it at 40mg/ml, and it vapes like a dream. Just enough throat hit to mimic a cigarette, but not harsh.

A potential drawback is that the most VG I can stuff in there is 42%. I'm afraid of leaking issues due to thin juice, but haven't seen it yet on this first pod. (The stock JUUL liquid is definitely thicker than what I made, based on tilting the device and seeing how long it takes for the juice to move around in the pod.)

I bought the NN salt with this specific purpose in mind, so I'm happy it's working as expected.

the Juul is refillable?

It's not intended to be refilled, but you can pry the mouthpiece off the pod and refill it. There are a few Youtube videos out there showing how.

Congrats on figuring that out. My stepmom tried that and it was an epic fail.

I haven't gotten it down perfectly, yet. Just now I tried another pod and pushed the little rubber gasket straight to the bottom. Can figure out how to get it out now :(

It's not easy, but I have a feeling I'm going to get pretty good at it in the coming weeks...

Its not supposed to be, but you can refill and rewick them. Using cotton bacon opposed to that darn silika wick they used is miles apart. Seems like better wicking, no dry hits, and MUCH better flavor. The cool mint 5% got dangerously smooth too.

Make a batch and sell it at diy classies. I'm sure people will hop on it. I would love to.

How does the Juul work when it comes to wicking? What's the vaporizing mechanism? Is there a "wick"? How long can one pod be refilled?

Here's a photo I just took of the coil and wick

It's (obviously) tiny. /u/twostep214 appears to be right about the silica. You can see through it like glass.

Silica wick. I can refill a pod about the times before burnt taste

That's really unfortunate. Unless you're able to easily rewick, it looks like no mater what you will have to buy the (expensive) pods to replace them.

I can't imagine rewicking this super tiny coil, though with the right tools and a jewelers loupe, I guess I would give it a shot.

The thing is, that the size of this device makes it really hard to make the little components user-replaceable. And part of the reason I like the Juul is because it's tiny but doesn't suck-ass like Vuse or Blu etc.

How does it compare to using regular nic then?

The one time I made up a batch using regular nic, the highest I could go was about 24mg or so before it was needling the back of my throat.

But to be fair, I haven't done a direct comparison keeping all other ingredients the same. I should do that.

Thank you for this! I was just looking at getting some NN Signature with this exact idea in mind. Do you find the nic hit to be similar to what is in the Juul prefilled pods?

It's not quite as good as Juul's liquid. My mix is only ("only", hah!) 40mg/ml, while Juul uses something around 55mg/ml. (They measure it as 5% by weight. If you assume a 50/50 ratio for the rest of the liquid, that comes out to 54.6mg/ml. But if their juice is 70/30, then it's 56.8mg/ml).

Unfortunately, shooting for 55mg/ml will leave me with room for only 27% VG—if I use the recipe I linked in this post—and I don't want to go that low. I'm thinking that I will need to find a recipe with lower flavor percentages, or flavors that compliment the high nic better in some way. Maybe I should shoot for a Bruule clone to eliminate that variable as much as I can.

It would be much nicer if these salt formulations were available in higher concentrations. 300mg/ml would allow me to hit 60% VG with the above recipe.

Buy the NN "Smooth" in 100% VG and buy the NN "Hit" in 100% PG and mix the two to get something in the range of "Standard" in a 50/50 PG/VG blend....

haha, /u/hectomaner beat you to it :). And I placed that order on Wednesday.

You can buy the HIT in 100% PG and SMOOTH in 100% VG and mix them to make a 50/50 blend, that according to Nude will be reasonably close to SIGNATURE, and will allow you more wiggle room with VG

Wow, THANK YOU. I looked at the solvent options for Hit and Signature and saw that they are only offered in PG. I assumed that Smooth would also only be in PG.

Having both of those will really let me tweak it and get up to 55mg without thinning the liquid.

Thanks for doing this, I ordered the signature as well for the exact same reason, can't wait to give it a shot once it arrives!

Did you vape at super high nic before getting the Nicotine Salts? I'm struggling to understand why any long time vaper would want to all of a sudden increase their nic intake 5-7 times the usual amount. Most of us are on 6 or 3 mg nic lol.

I do see why a high nic vaper would love this but otherwise I just don't understand the hype.

Please enlighten.

Yeah, I used the standard Juul pods, which are around 55mg/ml. The amount of vapor from the Juul is much lower than most devices. A pod holds 0.7ml, and lasts me a couple days. (0.7 x 55 = 39mg of nicotine).

My nic intake using this is no different than someone who vapes ~3ml of 12mg/ml or 13ml of 3mg/ml.

Interested to see how nic salts compare to freebase nic at exact same mg/ml and vaped in a standard tank/mod setup.

I made one batch of Mustard Milk (at 12mg/ml) using this instead of my normal nic, and it wasn't as good. Kinda off-tasting, almost like sour milk, and no bite. I went back to freebase right away for that.

I used to vape 3 nic and go thru about 15/ml's per day. Now, 1 pod lasts me close to 2 days. Convenience, discreet, perfect throat hit for me.
