CBBF /// Cinnamon Banana Baby Food
submitted about 9 years ago by matthewkocanda

Shut up, I know. Baby food. What the fuck is wrong with me?

Absolutely nothing.

Beechnut Natural makes this cinnamon banana granola baby food that my son loves more than anything else (and yes, I do as well. It's fucking delicious).

So instead of looking like a psychopath that's hoarding baby food for both my son and myself, I decided to recreate the flavour profile in vape form. Recipe and notes after the break, you know what it is.

CBBF Recipe

  • TFA Banana Cream at 3%
  • LA Banana Cream at 1.25%
  • CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl at 1.75%
  • TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie at 0.5%
  • FA Apple Pie at 1.75%
  • FA Almond at 1%
  • CAP Sugar Cookie at 2.5%
  • JF Juicy Lemon at 1%

Steep time and notes

So in prior versions of this, it really came together after two days. But this current version is definitely good as a shake and vape, but I still recommend a two day steep to allow the banana flavours to shine through that cinnamon a bit better.

TFA Banana Cream / LA Banana Cream - if you know me, than you know my distaste for LA Banana Cream on it's own. However, as I came to realize in my Banana Split recipe, the ratio of a 2:1 TFA:LA creates a really pleasant banana cream base. The candy elements of the LA get negated by the overall creaminess of TFA, but the intensity of the banana flavours of both still shine through.

CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl / TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie - Now I know there are better cinnamon flavours out there, but these two together seriously work so nicely in the recipe that calls for a bit of a granola flavour to it. Both of these carry those heavy bakery notes in them, and the cinnamon is still sweet enough to not feel dry or unpleasant. On top of this, these cinnamon flavours are perfect complements to the banana flavours. The spice and bakery notes add more depth to the fairly one dimensional bananas.

FA Apple Pie / FA Almond / CAP Sugar Cookie - This is where the granola elements are. The FA Apple Pie creates that sort of "pie crumble" sweetness and mouthfeel, while the FA Almond dries it out really nicely and adds another layer of crunch. Finally, the CAP Sugar Cookie keeps it sweet, and keeps it smooth. I have found that FA Almond can really dry things out with a steep, and is sometimes even harsh for me on the throat hit, so the CAP Sugar Cookie smooths all of that out and helps all of the flavours sort of mash together. Ya know, like baby food.

JF Juicy Lemon - Not entirely necessary for the mix, but holy fuck does it add something nice. The tartness from the lemon does something interesting to the bananas. It almost brightens them up, and just gives more depth to the recipe. You don't entirely taste the lemon, but you know it's there, and goddamn does it push this to the next level. At this percentage, it stays in the background, too much more and you'll actually taste lemon, which you don't want.

So there it is. Possibly the first baby food vape recipe. You know I'm out here making weird shit. I hope you enjoy. This is the first recipe that I've made in a while that makes me want to vape something other than Nebula or TheHimCatself.

Cheers.

I am here for this!

The only flavor I don't have is JF Juicy Lemon, but, I think I have at least a few worthy substitutes (FE Lemon? A tiny bit of INW Lemon?). It'll be awhile before I can mix this up, but, I'm very excited to. I totally get it.

Thanks for posting this, Daddy-O.

JF Juicy Lemon is just such a great lemon flavour, but the only other lemon I have is Lemon Sicily and that would PROBABLY work here in a small percentage. All you really want is that pop of brightness and the underlying bit of tartness. No real use of lemon flavour, just the suggestion of it. So use what you have to your discretion, it'll work as long as it isn't something like a lemonade or lemon rind type flavour.

Be sure to let me know whenever you mix it up, because this shit is bangin.

Got it.

I have a kind of ridiculous amount of lemon options (Goddamn me for not having JF Lemon yet!), because I am a lemon flavor hoarder, so, I'll figure out which one can lend a lift and get back to you. I honestly think FE Lemon is the man for the job, because it integrates well, and is not all in-yo-face.

This recipe sounds utterly great!

Think I could sub CAP Juicy Lemon for JF?

Man...this looks TOO fucking good, CokeCan. Really interesting profile. No TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie, you asshole. Newb question: any suggestions?

It's still coming together honestly. First time in a while where I felt like doing a sort of series of variations post. But as for the TFA CSC, it's not entirely necessary tbh. The CAP CDS is enough to get that profile. Without the cinnamon sugar cookie, just up the regular sugar cookie to maybe 3% to get a similar effect.

I think it was Vurve who I first saw use it, but I love the TFA Banana Cream/LA Banana Cream combo. Just those two by themselves creates a pretty realistic banana pudding and I can see how they would work in a recipe like this. I can't honestly say that I'm a fan of baby food lol, but I'll give this recipe a shot and pretend you imagined it to be cinnamon banana pudding or something like that :D

Baby food can be delicious, as long as you stay away from the jars of the meat sticks kind that looks like chubby toddler fingers. But maybe that's just me bc I'm mostly veg.

Wish I could make this right now as I'm incredibly intrigued, but being a noob I ordered all my flavors from tfa before realizing that each company does it's own thing (i know, research FIRST, but what can I say, I fucked up). Time to place a second order, this time from someone who sells multiple brands. Can't wait to try this! Thanks!

Ugh I ain't even veg and I refuse to buy those weird meat stick things for my son. They just seem weird. Too processed.

And don't worry about that first order shit. I feel like most everyone orders strictly TFA on the first go around because it's kinda the most popular in terms of starting up. Check out ECigExpress or Bull City for picking up multiple different vendors in one order.

Cheers!

thank you so much for this. I have been very interested in making a granola element I can add to other recipes and i am going to try this and the recipe as a whole. Do you not taste any apple from the apple pie?

Have you tried out TFA oatmeal cookie? To me it tastes just like those store brand hard oatmeal cookies without the icing. I don't have a couple of the ingredients but l will try to sub the lemon and the granola aspect with lemon lime and or lemon sicily and oatmeal cookie.

I read that this tastes nothing like oatmeal cookie? Apparently it has a really bad after taste

This turned out every bit as awesome as it sounded like it would! Woke up craving it this morning with my coffee. Kudos on a great recipe, /u/matthewkocanda.
