I normally use Strawberry Ripe, Dragonfruit and Juicy Peach as my bases (i prefer Fruity flavors with a hint of cream).
I was wondering what yall's every day bases are?
There was a GREAT write up by /u/vurve on this subject, but i was wondering what everyone else had.
Thanks in advance!

Do you find this makes a 'heavier' custard base at 2% for the French Vanilla? I had mixed up 4% Vanilla Custard / 3% NY Cheesecake / 3% Vanilla Custard (as a stand-alone) and it was very heavy. I'm still trying to work in Holy Vanilla (DIYFS), which I think I can do in place of French Vanilla.
But I'm thinking the Sweet Cream might tone it down a bit? I'm still after a good base, to then add some crust to, via TPA Graham Cracker (clear) and Banana or Blueberry.
Still relatively new to this (about 3 months in only), when you add a fruit (assuming you do), what percentage do you usually add it at, lets say LA Banana Cream? Or TPA Blueberry Wild? (I'll usually add a touch of Bilberry with Blueberry Wild)
Sorry this flew past me for some reason. Yeah this is a very heavy, eggy and buttery custard. If you have a different vanilla, what you can do is mix it together with Cap French vanilla for a really rich vanilla, or omit it and use a different vanilla instead.
Sweet cream just helps to give it a slight and extremely mild cheese note, which I love in custards.
The fruit varies depending on the flavoring you use. blueberry wild is a really weak flavour and only starts to shine around 5-8%. Something like LA Banana cream only needs 3-4% to stand out. Search up on a flavoring and experiment to see what works for you.
Thanks for the reply, still very helpful! I actually just used this base yesterday (your bases sounded really good, so I saved your post). Mixed with 2.5% Banana Cream (LA). It usually comes across strong to me, so I started lower. Also added Graham Cracker Clear to it. We'll see what it turns out like :)
Thanks again - appreciate the detailed response!
Top 3 becomes top 12?
OK,
Fruit
- TFA Phillipine Mango
- FLV Sweet Coconut
- TFA Orange Cream
- LA Banana Cream
Custard/Cream
- CAP VCV1
- TFA Bavarian Cream
- TFA VBIC
- INW Shisha Vanilla
Well when I think of a base, I think of an amalgamation of flavors that come together to provide a solid foundation, not single flavorings.
Just received Orange Cream and Sweet Coconut. WOW.
Both smell amazing. Now I have to mix :)
Thanks again for sharing.
Oh! One more thing. I've noticed a lot of INW "Shisha" flavors. Does Shisha have a specific flavor?
Orange Cream and Sweet Coconut are both tasty in single flavor mixes. Orange Cream needs more cream (bavarian?) to make a balanced mix.
Shisha flavors are meant to be used with tobacco flavors in a hookah. The Shisha Vanilla and Strawberry are popular and IMO both delicious in a variety of mixes.
It depends on what I'm after, but I have a few staples when it comes to creating a base.
Lately, TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream has been a huge hit with me. Endless possibilities it seems.
Also, FW Bavarian Cream, although if I didn't end up with 4 oz of the stuff, I'd probably prefer the TFA version over it, so let's actually go with TFA Bavarian Cream. (They're both actually very good)
CAP Sugar Cookie is pretty solid in a base as well.
I just tried that VB Ice Cream. Love it!
The CAP Sugar Cookie was a bit over powering for me though. Like a single drop would overpower a mix. Any recommendations on amount per ml?
Thanks !
Mango FLV
Pink Lemonade LB
Banana Cream LA
Wicked, I love a good mango flavor.
Good call on the pink lemonade too!
Like others, it depends on exactly what I'm after... but mostly I'm a fruit guy too... Hey, don't judge!
Strawberry (TFA)
Juicy Peach (TFA)
Mango (TFA)
my kinda dude!
you use Strawberry, not Sweet or Ripe?
I have numerous strawberry flavorings and I use TFA Strawberry Ripe quite a bit as a background or supplemental flavor in many recipes, but seldom as a primary. The same thing goes for CAP Sweet Strawberry and INW Shisha Strawberry, but less frequently that the TFA versions.
However, two or three of my ADV's use TFA Strawberry as THE primary flavor. It is probably my favorite strawberry.
This is an odd question to me. I depends entirely on what I'm going for. That being said, I do find myself reaching for the CAP VC V1, TFA VBIC, and CAP Sugar Cookie often. Sometimes they get taken out by the final iteration but they often wind up in one version or other. For fruits, I often do wonder what what a little dab of Dragonfruit, FA Pear, or INW Cactus would do, but it would be real stretch to call any of those any of those a "top three base flavor."
i honestly am addicted to blood orange (RF) im a huge blood orange fan.. iv gone through maybe 100ml concentrate just toying with the stuff -.- whod of thought to try mixing blood orange and caramel? this dumb donkey XD also am a huge sucker for anything with irish cream in it other then those too i dont have a main focus XD
Lately, I'd have to say TFA Berry Crunch, FW Fruit Rings and FW Cinnamon Churro.
