Which concentrates make a 'cheese' taste when used in high amounts?

Disgusting I know, but I'm curious! I understand butyric acid is the culprit for this smell, but is there an easily-bought concentrate that has butyric acid in high amounts? Something like TFA DX Cream or similar?

TFA's sweet cream at 3-5% might put you in the ballpark. I feel nauseous just typing that.

Tastes more like rubber to me at that percentage, but it does go away after 2-3 weeks. I've read the butyric acid in it causes that.

Looks like cheesecake has the highest butyric acid content of TFA flavors. USE WITH CAUTION BECAUSE IT IS TERRIBLE.

Alternatively, bacon from TFA is JUST butyric acid. I bet it's terrible too.

That's 100% butyric acid? So by rights it should smell like cheese and not bacon - how odd!

BS in chemistry here. YOU DO NOT WANT 100% butyric acid. We had a fume hood separate from the work stations in organic chem just for butyric acid. It smells like decomposing flesh and bad cream. It's so powerful and so terrible

well... it's not "100% butyric acid." it's <0.5% butyric acid. but, technically, the formula consists of only butyric acid. so one could call that "100%" i guess.

The thing to watch with butyric acid is that it's only a small step from cheese-y to vomit-y.

But as others have said - TFA Sweet Cream, TFA Cheesecake, CAP NY Cheesecake.

Did you know it's literally present in both cheese and vomit?

I wonder at what point people smell cheese and then start to smell vomit. Is it a concentration thing or something else coming into play?

Yeap, did a little reading on it when I bought some sweet cream from MBV with 5 flavour shots....ROFL.

I'm not sure, probably a concentration thing that seems to go cream/diary -> cheese -> vomit. I'd hazard a guess and say the thresholds are different for everyone as well, I seem to be somewhat sensitive to it.

I think it's one of those flavours that once it's pointed out it becomes really noticeable.

Vanilla Bean Gelato has that in it i believe , i can't use that flavor it's just too strong , DX sweet cream is brutal as well.

I do very much enjoy the occasional rotting flesh flavor but my mainstay & ADV for years was freshly expelled vomit flavor .

Fermenting vomit flavoring is not as good as fresh imo but to each their own.

I'll throw in another vote for TFA Sweet Cream. It's a very fine line between "Creamy deliciousness" and "Holy fuck this tastes like cheese curds!" I quit using it because it's just way too easy to ruin a batch and I'd rather take my chances with a small amount of DA or AP.
