Sweeteners?
submitted about 9 years ago by DrKrepz

So I've been mixing my own juice for years, and as such I never really bothered buying much pre-mixed eliquid. Recently I ran out of juice while I was out and I went to a vape shop and grabbed a bottle of 'Bigfoot' by Decoded. This stuff was SWEET. I mean I could literally taste sugar all over the inside of my mouth after taking a hit. I actually found it pretty overpowering, but used more subtly I think it could be really nice (the liquid was an 8/10 overall though - it was damn good). Does anyone know what this was? I assume it wasn't a standard sweetener.

Lol yea they call that sugar lips!! Sad cuz all these new ppl coming over to diy now since the FDA regs are like this recipe is weak in taste or always asking how come I can't taste my recipe lol. All these "premium" juices have all been drenching all their juices in sweeteners and they are so use to just hot sweetness they forgot what a juice with out it taste like. Sad!!

I also agree I rarely use it in mixes, it has its place tho

Surcalose pretty much gives that feeling like you put sugar in your juice.

edit: and your coils act accordingly.

Lol no magic here just a shit ton of Sucralose probably 5%, but like u said used subtly there is nothing wrong with a lil sweetener to help out a juice. If you pick up TFA sweetener and start low like .5 - 1% will give you what your looking for no more than 2% or coils will hate you and it'll get sickly sweet for adv.

Wait you have been mixing for years n never heard of sweetener? Lol huh

Thanks! And yup, been DIYing for about 4 years. It's crazy how far it's come since then. I've never really bothered with sweeteners because when I started they were a point of mild controversy and I've always been happy with the results I got without them anyway. They definitely aren't necessary for the most part. I was just really surprised when I tried that juice; it was like vaping liquid sugar.

Nude nicotine has a couple sweeteners that are more stable at higher temps and should be more forgiving on your coil. https://www.nudenicotine.com/products/stock-solutions/

You could always just buy Monk Fruit extract on Amazon and mix up your own at 5% Dilution in PG... Hell of a lot cheaper than buying from Nude Nicotine.

Also, monk Fruit is replacing all Ethyl Maltol and Sucralose in my recipes... So much better for coil and wick longevity

The very sweet juices that I've bought I'm certain is NOT loaded with sucralose. Sucralose has a very artificial aftertaste. I'll just put my tinfoil hat on - I think many of them are using Fructose or Glucose.

Premium Labs is probably the best Canadian ejuice company as they're flavours are all actually good, just expensive. They have something like 9 different lines of ejuice. I do find all their flavours to be sweet but not to the point where you can taste an artificial sweetener

They have a HUGE lab, facility and alot of workers - including chemists. I too do not think they are using the same artificial tasting sweeteners such as TFA's or CAP's but rather something else.

I've yet to try the newer sweeteners like Monk Fruit or the other new one from Nude Nicotine, so until then I can't genuinely say they're using Glucose/Fructose or another sugar. My gut feeling until I've tried those does still tell me that it's not an artificial sweetener and something we shouldn't be vaping.

Pretty sure it's just standard sweetener, not monkfruit or whatever.

Sucralose.

Other sweeteners like EM and Vanillin don't really do what you are describing.
