Does anyone want to offer some tips on an apple pie recipe I've been working on?
submitted about 9 years ago by VapeJeezus

It tastes pretty good but I think I am either missing something or over complicating it, maybe I'm just not letting it steep long enough. I've always wanted a good apple pie flavor but could never find one pre made so I've been working on this for about 3 weeks now.

Almond (FA) - 0.5%

Apple Pie v2 (CAP) 7%

Cake (Yellow) (FW) 1%

Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA) 1%

Cinnamon Danish Swirl v2 (CAP) 3%

Fuji Apple (FA) 2%

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (CAP) 3.5%

Vanilla Whipped Cream (CAP) 1%

If you are willing to start from scratch, /u/Botboy141 's awesome apple pie is the best apple pie I've ever vaped.

I came in here to say this too, I vape this constantly. I've mixed both but I find the second to be better, that FLV rich cinnamon just adds such a nice spice to the entire mix.

I'm Vaping that right now and agree wholeheartedly. Use the recipe with the FLV Rich Cinnamon. Really yummy shit.

First I'd drop the Yellow Cake and VBIC. Seems like they have no place in an apple pie. Not sure about the vanilla whipped cream, never used it sofar. Just add a little vanilla like FA Tahiti if you want.

Also I'd sub the CAP Apple Pie for FA Apple Pie (at a lower percentage, 2~3%) and add FA Stark Apple with FA Amber.

Last I'd swap the CDS for Ceylon Cinnamon (but really low, like 0.5%).

Thanks for all the notes, this definitely looks like a way better base recipe. The yellow cake was indeed useless, don't know why it was in there. Also the VBIC was supposed to replicate an nice apple pie ala mode. I don't know anymore., I'm still new to DIY so all the input was really appreciated.

HIC (Head In Clouds) has an excelent breakdown of many FA flavorings: http://www.hicsmixes.com/notes-etc.html

You can go through the basic elements of your apple pie and see where he suggests pairings. Mind you, it's all FA, so you might come up with a completely different recipe. For instance, he suggests trying walnut in apple pie recipes, not a bad idea at all by itself (you took the almond as a nutty flavor), but it might wonder off the path you're going down.

Have you ever tried FA liquid Amber? It helps to turn apple flavors into a cooked/baked apple. Just something to consider.

Thanks man. I've heard of it but never knew what it did. Could you recommend a good percentage to start off with?

.5-1%. Anything higher and it gets weird. Also I haven't ever tried CAP's Apple pie but that sure seems like a lot of one single flavor. Also, why the almond?

Thanks man. And becuase i just wanted a subtle nutty aspect. I don't think it's doing anything for the recipe. I'm pretty sure the yellow cake isn't doing to much either. I'm still relatively new to DIY. And becuase the apple pie gets drowned out by everything else in the mix. I need to definitely lower everything.

I noticed you don't have any LorAnn Bavarian cream in there. That's the secret sauce m8.

I am also new to diy and I would love to make a TART apple pie. I don't know flavors well enough to even try to predict what any combination will taste like... Does your recipe have that tart apple taste or is it more on the sweet side?

Wait for Gunnars Gold to release their apple pie recipe, it may be better than his personal recipe, has anyone tested both?

The best grahamcracker hands down is capella grahamcracker v1. Keep it simple. Don't use the yellowcake as it uses real sugar and will clog up the coils in a day or so. Also toss the almond, vanilla bean ice cream and the whipped cream. I'd try something like 1% cap graham cracker, 2% cheeesecake (graham), 2% fuji apple, 1% cinnamon danish swirl and 4% cap apple pie.
