Hello all, story time.
I woke up last night at around 1:00 am, in my sleepy haze I thought "Hey, /u/enyawreklaw Funfetti recipe tastes good, I wonder if I could edit it a little and make some sorta blueberry shortcake." So then I searched for the recipe, looked it over, had some thoughts then I went back to bed.
The next morning, I woke up and remembered my thought. I managed to yank out vanilla custard and joy. Changed some percentages to make more sense in the recipe and BOOM! Blueberry Lemon Shortcake!
Ingredient|% :---|---: Bavarian Cream (TPA)|2 Blueberry (FW)|2 Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA)|3 Italian Lemon Sicily (CAP)|2 Marshmallow (TPA)|4 Sugar Cookie (CAP)|5 Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA)|2
Flavor total: 20%
It is delicious! Also the fun doesn't stop there, you could add coconut, strawberry, raspberry, ANYTHING and it'd probably taste pretty good!
I also feel like this may be on the right track for a decent doughnut recipe. /u/ID10-T and /u/Nutz_of_Brin take note!
I think we could bring the FA - Joy back in and maybe Biscuit and we may have a good doughnut base on our hands.
The overall flavor is very sweet and light, but I feel like its on the right track!
Feedback is welcome!
Don't forget to give some credit back to /u/enyawreklaw since I used his recipe as a jumping off point.
Much love man. I'm glad you went with CAP Sugar Cookie instead of CAP Donut or something. It's so nice. Recipe looks good
Oh yeah, CAP glazed doughnut is no good haha
Let me know what you think if you end up trying it!
I may have to try this but subbing the CAP Italian Lemon Sicily with FA Lemon Sicily. Probably at 1.5 %. I'll mix it up and report back later.
Let me know how it goes!
For sure, I just finished mixing it, still shaking and trying to finish this tank of some stuff I made earlier. I'm hoping it steeps delicious because right now it's pretty good, definitely going to either make a post here or in the monthly recipe thread because it's pretty basic. It also gives a sour feel to it too which is weird but awesome.
With those ingredients, of course you could take out the blueberry and lemon and replace them with just about anything and it would probably taste good.
Sounds like you might be on to something with the donut idea. Kill the blueberry and lemon, replace those with Joy at like 2 or, fuckit, 3%? I don't think you'd need biscuit with that much sugar cookie and the cheesecake GC. /u/Nutz_of_Brin
Yeah I am thinking 3% joy and see what happens!
I'll give that a try. Even if it doesn't come across as a donut, it'll probably taste good. Or it might be yeasty, malty mess. We shall see.
Blueberry, lemon, and bakery/cream is an amazing flavor combination and I'm super excited to try this. OSDIY had this Lemonberry Cream that is absolutely amazing if you haven't tried it. (Has DA, but worth it IMO)
Got a link? Sounds delightful!
Sorry it isn't OSDIY, it's DIY flavor shack.
here it is
After initially mixing it, you were right with the light flavors. I'm considering throwing some more blueberry in there, maybe by like 1 or 1.5% (I fucking love blueberry). But it's pretty tasty. 1.5 FA Lemon Sicily seemed to work well, it blends nicely. Can't wait to see what it steeps out into.
A recipe I had almost everything for! Substituted TFA Blueberry (Extra) and FA Lemon Sicily both at the same percent because I don't know any better.
It's tasty as is but a little lemon forward and I'm not getting the blueberry which is obviously my fault. Looking forward to trying it in a few days.
Yeah blueberry extra may need a percent or two more, also you could probably drop down the FA Lemon Sicily a little. (Since it's a stronger flavor)
Let us know how it tastes in a couple days!:)
It's great. Just mixed a new batch with an extra percent of blueberry extra and knocked the FA Sicily down .5%
Don't know how I managed to make 30ml last a week.
Ayyyyyy, this shit is delicious. Made 120ml. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like it! Pass on the good word!
I want to try this just missing Italian Lemon Sicily (CAP). Do you think FA Custard could sub without distracting the flavor to much? Maybe .5% or 1% to get the citrus note?
I would try Torrone FA or maybe CAP key lime pie if you have those.
If not then I'd say go for the custard and report back with your findings!
I honestly have thought to just drop the Italian lemon all together and just punch the blueberry up a percent or so.
I have a feeling It'd be great!
