If you have differing experiences with this flavor, let us know!
I'd never vape this, but an amazing reveiw none the less! thanks for the knowledge
I don't really get the green pepper reference much -- At 1.5, I get more of a fruit follow-through with the peppery bite up front; I've never taken it past 2% though, so I suppose it's possible, just never would've considered roasted green pepper as a descriptor for it at the percentage I've tried it at...
Perique mixes pretty well with Cubano and works great for an analogue additive. They both have their respective places in my arsenal but I think I prefer and will use Black For Pipe more often when I'm lookin for an ashy pepper note; Perique isn't something I find myself vaping on it's own often, but it is good by itself for an albeit brief change of pace...
Hey bud! Been a minute.
That's interesting about the fruity note you get. The only sweetness I got was very faint and came from the anise on exhale.
About green pepper, I should qualify this.. I recently had the opportunity to smell a bunch of essential oils derived from various fruits, veggies and other stuff. We weren't allowed to know what each smell was until after we had smelled them and tried to guess what each one was. One of the flavors punched me right in the brain and all I could think of was TFA Cubano. Turns out what I was smelling was green pepper. And I most definitely taste/smell that in Perique Black too. But like I said, it's not what we associate with fresh green pepper and the best I can describe it is charred green pepper, but even that does not quite fit.
At any rate, it's cool to hear your experience with this flavor. And funny you should mention Black For Pipe, been keeping an eye out for that stuff but no vendors in Canada seems to be stocking it.
Got any good recipes that include Perique? I don't really do aromatic blends so haven't had a reason to actually mix with this yet.
Nice review! Will have to compare side by side with the Perique Black (FA) but the Perique Black (Inawera)* i'm vaping right now @ 3% also has a chargrilled green pepper note, specifically the caramelisation effect that comes only with the blackened skin, not too sweet. Also get the slightest hint of black pepper, very subtle. Not scratchy. In contrast to your description of FA's I get no bitterness and am glad to find I get no Anise at all.
*Worth noting that this is part of Inawera's Tino D'Milano range, from Inawera's site: "We are starting this new line of aromas. These aromas are similar to Flavourart's. In cooperation with TINO D'MILANO laboratories we have improved the taste formula."
I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that he (Tino D'Milano) worked for/with FA in the past or that it was implied that he did.
Well now I can mix up my American Spirit Black clone.
Are you spit balling or do you have a recipe for this in the works? Do share!
All I ever got was ashtray. I still have some stashed away in the back of the fridge.
