PSA: Lots of new FLV Flavors
submitted about 9 years ago by CheebaSteebaFrugivore

EDIT: TYVM to /u/chewymidget for the complete list of flavors and their statement (included in his comment below).

So it looks like Flavorah has released a ton of new flavors (or has at least posted them while they're still in development) on their website. Looks like they include:

  • Guanabana
  • Basil
  • Apple Cider
  • Persimmon Spice
  • Alpine Strawberry
  • Ginger Peach
  • Irish Cream
  • Beer Nuts
  • Connecticut Shade
  • Sweet Fig
  • Turkish Tobacco
  • Cucumber
  • Classic Cigarette
  • Passion Fruit
  • Fig
  • Strawberry Smash
  • Oatmeal Raisin
  • Strawberry Filling
  • Raisin Rum
  • Milk Chocolate
  • Apple Cranberry

No descriptions or anything from what I can tell, but it looks very promising. I may have missed a couple or listed some that were already released but I think those are all new. I'm definitely interested in their Raisin Rum, Oatmeal Raisin, and their Figs. Seems like they've got some very promising stuff on the way!

Here is the complete list of new flavors along with their statement.

Holy fuck... they've been busy.

Welcome to the New Era for Vaping

Posted on August 8, 2016 by brendan Today is the first day of an unknown era. Vaping in the good ‘ole US of A may never be the same again, and whether we are going to see the twilight of its golden era, or the dawn of something newer, bigger and better is still obscured by a big white cloud of vapor…

This past Friday, August 6th we released nearly one hundred new flavors in order to keep from violating the FDA’s regulation that no new tobacco products be placed on the market after 8/8 without a PMTA. We have also implemented age verification on our website and ended our exclusive pre-release sampling program in order to comply with the apparent inclusion of vapor flavorings as deemed “tobacco products.”

It is very clear from the updated publications on the FDA’s website, Q&A webinars held in July, and their direct correspondence with us that DIY ejuice will not emerge unscathed if things continue on the same course.

The FDA still has not given us a clear answer about the PMTA requirements for products like flavoring that 1) are not made or derived from tobacco and 2) cannot be used directly in an e-cigarette. There are specific exemptions for “raw” materials, but those only apply when flavors are sold B2B. The one thing that they have made clear however, is that if the intended use of a product even comes close to an e-cigarette, they will be exercising their mandate to regulate.

In the very recent “olden days” we liked to release our DIY flavors slowly and give people enough time to sample them before they were available publicly, but since our ability to offer free samples has also been regulated (whether that is constitutional should be examined by a judge experienced with the 1st amendment) and taken away by the FDA’s new rules.

We sent out our last box of freebies on Friday. It is a new era.

Changes will come to DIY as vendors encounter FDA enforcement aimed at manufacturing since bottling and labeling a DIY flavor after 8/8 is now considered tobacco product “manufacturing.” A lot of vendors who import bulk flavors and then rebottle them in the US are going to be constrained by this regulation. As it seems, even domestic re-bottlers will need to provide a masterfile of their own or register and assign their flavors to an existing one.

This leaves flavor vendors who do not intend to comply with FDA regulations in a very difficult predicament: the obligation to register their master files with the FDA Center for Tobacco Products so that commercial customers can file their PMTA’s, while not having an application of their own in for the sale of those same flavorings for DIY use.

We intend to fully comply with the deeming requirements in regards to both our commercial, and DIY products. The black market is simply not an option.

We have hundreds of customers that will be filing thousands of PMTAs of their own and they need our assistance to make their filings and they need us to maintain our good name and reputation with the regulators they are also working with.

Besides the right and wrong of it, the FDA is a formidable government agency with powerful enforcement resources to bear on anyone they chose to make an example of. A vendor can pretend that the intended use of multi-purpose flavoring is not ejuice, but for a legitimate business that does not deal in the black market, the specter of fines and possible jail time are going to separate the true intended use of flavorings made and packaged for vapor from multipurpose drops intended for beverage, candy and baking.

Over all, it is a disappointing situation that can only be fixed with better decisions being made by the people in charge. We need to educate them and they need to hear our voices.

If you want to keep mixing your own juice, then stop feeling like you have an unassailable refuge in DIY and realize that DIY could be taken away just like commercial ejuice. We urge you to call your congressman.

Wow, this is pretty incredible. TYVM for the information! I'm hella excited for that cherimoya, I bet they could 1up INW. I don't feel like theirs does the cherimoya much justice, though it's still nice.

In regards to their link to call your congressman..... I'm not good with words and talking on the fly, but I'd really love to fight the FDA as much as possible as I have been doing with emails and calls in the past (I know mine don't have the same drive as others who speak we'll and are more knowledgeable than me).... I wish I could see a written conversation of what to go over, how to go over it, and what all topics and examples to give. And also, what not to say.

FLV did a great job at explaining things on their link above, but for someone like me (tourette's syndrome, anxiety, struggles with the English language); I'd love a rundown posted of someone's call that they've made and been able to speak to the correct person FLV mentions in their link. I think a well written document with tips and examples of what to expect when making these calls would help people like me out that want to fight, but don't necessarily have the proper skills to do so in a manner that would come across properly and have a positive affect.

I hate to sound like the dumb kid in school trying to cheat off a classmates test, but I think a lot more people in the same boat as me would be more apt to make these kind of calls if we had a bit of "tutoring" so to say. We would definitely be more affective as well.

You can find loads of "tutoring" on the CAASA website.

I've found some. Used it to email my local officials numerous times. They even stay on their website that if you get a response email back from an official, that you should send it over to them and get in contact with them so they can take a look at it and also assist you in a response (or respond themselves depending on what it states).

But every email I've sent to CASSA I've never got a response from. Kind of funny that I can get a response email from my local congressman, but can't even get one from CASSA.

So freaking genius. It absolutely blows that this could even relate to candy flavors. Does anyone know what aces like TFA will do? They're candy flavors for Christ sake.

1 points

by chewymidgetabout 9 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

I believe Flavorah is doing this because they advertise themselves as a e juice flavoring manufacturer. As a precautionary step if you will.

TFA does not advertise they make their flavorings for e juice. Only baking and candy making. They don't have to worry about anything right now.

I got it a little over a week ago. It tastes exactly like Peach Rings at 3% standalone. Need to take more notes, though.

Holy shit. With the exception of a few flavors I could almost go with all FLV flavors. Need a hazelnut and some other various creams but otherwise nearly a one stop.

Well, change of plans. I was buying all of the new FLV flavors as they released but there is no way I can afford all of this in one go.

I guess I will have to be selective for awhile, or wait for somebody to review them all next week. :P

I want that alpine strawberry. Its listed at 17$ for a 15ml on their website though, not sure if I can justify that

It's worth it, even if you have to share. Just really expensive to make :/

Oh I'm sure you guys priced it that way for a reason. I didn't think you'd randomly charge a bunch unless it was necessary. Either way, I'm excited to try it

Willing to bet its a 1-2 drop kinda flavoring/something that needs dilution.

Anyone curious about the brie cheese? I kind of am. Kind of cream cheese-ish. Could be useful.

2 points

by flavorahabout 9 years ago

Its a soft cheese, like a triple cream brie.

1 points

by CheebaSteebaabout 9 years agoFrugivore

I would totally get it lol, love me some cheese and Brie is among my favorites. Would be very intersting as a vape, does pair well with things like apple and honey

3 points

by vapaioloabout 9 years ago

Oh hell yeah to the apple and honey. Maybe a little walnut to replicate a candied walnut on a cheeseplate. Hmmm. Brie would be an interesting addition to any dessert recipe with dark fruits and stones fruits; apricots, figs, cherries, quince (membrillo), cranberry....But I bet it would be a fun thing to play around with in custards or cheesecake types.

There are actually a ton more flavors than this. I can type them up if someone wants. I don't know if they are only visible because I have a wholesale account but wow that is a ton of flavors! I was really looking forward to creating a new line out of these. Thanks FDA

Edit: Sorry just saw your edit at the top with the complete flavor list link.

I'm having an overload!

Know I can't buy them all, but want to so bad. I should be sleeping but keep adding and dropping flavors, trying to decide which ones to get.

Aren't Guanabana and Soursop the same fruit? (BTW, Guanabana smells a-ma-zing. Can't wait to try a single-flavor test.)

2 points

by flavorahabout 9 years ago

Yes, they are both in the "soursop" family, but these two flavors are distinct. Its like the various varieties of green/ red/ candy apple...The soursops are SOOO good its just worth doing two. Also check out jackfruit and cherimoya if you like the tropicals.

1 points

by queuetueabout 9 years agoAllTheFlavors Creator/Admin

All right, then I'll add soursop to All The Flavors, as well. :)
