PSA: DO NOT buy nicotine/nicotine base from E-Liq.com (also you get what you pay for)
submitted about 9 years ago by nosenuggets54

Well as many of you all did, I too decided to take the dive into DIY juice. I did my reading, for the most part, and figured I would start with an 80/20 blend of 6mg juice, dilute it with flavoring and VG to make it about 3mg juice.

The first mistake happens when I ordered a gallon of 80/20 (PG/VG)... can't say I've ever seen a sight advertise 80/20 as one of the first options for an 80%PG, but hey, my mistake. I should've read.

So I order another gallon of the correct stuff in 6mg again. I make 6 15mL batches, let them steep a bit over night and give them a taste test the next day. Absolutely AWFUL. The burn, the throat hit was unreal. I'm thinking to myself "There's no way steeping would make THAT big of a difference"...

I give the pure VG a vape on my drip, good. Tastes clean and smooth. Then I drip some 80/20 (VG/PG) 6mg. WOW. There it is. Harsh, peppery, like little razors scratching at my throat. Just unacceptably harsh.

I've contacted their customer support and they have very little to say to me. Long story short, don't try and do this the "cheap" way. You're still saving money even if you get high quality ingredients. I now have a nice 120mL of Vaperstek Premium nicotine on order and $80 worth of 2 gallons of juice base I can't use.

Thanks for nothing, E-Liq.com!

Holy shit. This place is bizarre

They sell pure nicotine in any size you could imagine. Plus you can pay 2.50 extra to jump from 98.8% purity to 100%. Now that's what I call a deal.

Plus they sell "FDA Approved Pure Nicotine (1000mg/ml)". That must mean it's super awesome, right?

For all the dummies out there, mr /u/chewymidget is being sarcastic, this is not a good deal, this is a possible deal with the devil. Do not buy pure nicotine, and don't not talk about it here as we don't want to put the idea into anybody's head.

I think we're not supposed to talk about this for this very reason

The only point I was trying to make is they sell this shit to people with no requirement for a lab or safety equipment should raise some red flags.

That is shady within itself.

I think they've been the subject of a /r/shitty_diy_ejuice for this very reason

Edit: nope, sorry, that was HiLiq, a (presumably) different company

I have a feeling that you are maybe misunderstanding the measurements. You are saying that you purchased a nicotine base at 6mg/ml. With the intent to dilute it down to about 3 mg/ml?

From the sounds of it, you may have ordered something much stronger than you expect, and may need to mix accordingly.

Looking at their site, the 'weakest' 1 gal nicotine solution I see them selling is 100 mg/ml. So double check your order and the bottle, since if you're mixing that with flavor only, it's going to be like 4 time stronger than the strongest juice, and will be terrible.

I may have not made it clear. I did in fact buy a .06% base. It was not a nicotine solution but a premixed ejuice base.

Ahh, got it, ya i see that on their site now. Well unless their stuff really is terrible, sounds like maybe they sent you the wrong stuff? Or maybe they mixed it totally wrong, and put in waay to much nicotine. 6mg/ml should not be harsh like that at all.

Also maybe, maybe you're hitting a hot spot, did you make sure to shake it up a ridiculous amount before using any?

I did a pretty through mixing. And I have no idea what's wrong with it but it's terribly harsh. I'd also say it isn't the wrong dose of nicotine since I didn't feel weird from vaping it. I'm wondering if they gave me an 80%PG blend again..

hm, as far as I know stating the ratio as PG/VG is pretty common

Um, I buy eliq.com pre-made eliquid base in 80vg20pg ratio with 10mg nic and it's fine. Once mixed with flavor my mix is 6mg. Either you are super sensitive to pg or someone there messed up the mix. I've never had a problem with them and they provide a quality product at a decent price. Not to mention fast as hell order processing and shipping.

Interesting.. I'm thinking a bad batch honestly. I've vaped 50/50 before and that was buttery smooth compared to this. I've had multiple people try it and all complained about how terribly harsh it is. It also doesn't help that their customer service basically blew me off and shrugged their shoulders.

Three year old info ahead. Their bases and flavors are OK, their nic is horrible. They mainly sell supplies to ejuice manufacturers. They'll also put your companies name on the label of their pre-made and blamo; ''Vinnyc265's Homemade Brew''.

PS. e-cig.com and e-liq.com, some company.

Just so you know, to get a gallon of VG, 500ml of PG, and 120ml of 60mg/ml Nic (in your choice of base liquid) is <$50 from Wizard Labs. You don't have to go to the discount barn to get good prices on DIY supplies. Wizard has always provided me with fantastic service. I know a lot of other people prefer carolina extracts or other brands, but I've never had an issue with anything from wizard and they've got some great people working there. Shop around and I'm sure you'll find prices that fit what you're looking for.

Glad some good can come of this. If I'm not convincing enough, just go check out their Facebook page reviews.

Gotta ask the obvious question: did you shake the base before making the juice? Thoroughly?

I was curious to find out how their flavored liquids compare to some of the others that we use. Do they just buy from the common brands and just mix it with their "bases"? I DIY and some of my customers are considering going this route as apposed to buying my stuff. I can't tell them not to as i've never had any of their stuff. I can tell them that my flavors are complex and therefore more satisfying but some people would rather take their chances learning the hard way and saving a buck. literally a buck.

I just got an email from e-liq of a 40% off flash sale today. They advertise using Nicselect nic.
