Strawberry Milks, a recipe born out of nostalgia and necessity
submitted about 9 years ago by thedirtyprojectorMixologist

Story

When I was little, I used to imbibe myself on cartons and cartons of strawberry milk. It got to the point where it was so ridiculous, my mom had to lie and say my piss would turn pink if I continued with my unhealthy obsession.

Ever since then, I have stopped consuming them. But my quest to create a strawberry milk vape waged on.

This was one of the recipes I sold for a short while at local B&Ms. I hope you enjoy vaping it as much as I did creating it.

Description

This is a strawberry milk through and through—complete with fresh dairy cream, a kiss of vanilla, ripe strawberries and a whole lotta nostalgia—reminiscent of those milk cartons you used to drink when you were little.

The Recipe

  • 6% CAP Sweet Strawberry

  • 3% TFA Strawberry Ripe

  • 3% TFA Vanilla Swirl

  • 2% CAP Vanilla Custard

  • 0.5% FW Hazelnut

  • 1% FA Vienna Cream

  • 0.5% FA Fresh Cream

  • 2% FA Meringue

Optional

  • TFA Orange Cream - 0.5%

You can add TFA Orange Cream if you want a slight tang. This changes the profile quite a bit and veers away from Strawberry Milk territory. Very nice addition overall.

  • CAP Graham Cracker - 1-2%

If you want a Mother's Milk type deal, you can add Capella Graham Cracker at small amounts to introduce a cinnamon into the mix. Again, this won't be your typical strawberry milk but it makes for a delicious vape.

  • FA/INW Marzipan - 0.5%

For a grainy and malty type of effect, add this in small doses.

  • TFA Koolada - 0.3%

If you want a chilled glass of milk mouthfeel, you can consider need this.

  • FA White Peach - 0.35%

Courtesy of /u/BuickGrandNationalX you could add a dash of white peach to brighten up the milk flavour.

Notes

  • CAP Sweet Strawberry/ TFA Strawberry Ripe — If you enjoy strawberry flavors, you are probably accustomed to this combo. The marriage of sweet strawberry and strawberry ripe creates a strawberry that's just the right amount of candy-ish without going overboard. I always, always use it at a 2:1 ratio.

  • TFA Vanilla Swirl/Vienna Cream — the vanilla portion of the milk. This is a very subtle vanilla taste that acts as a backnote to the strawberry. Most strawberry milks use some form of vanilla extract so the drink isn't as linear.

  • CAP Vanilla Custard — I use this for the diacetyl. I needed some form of thickening agent to replicate the think cream aspect of milk. This worked perfectly.

  • FW Hazelnut — There were a couple of options I could have gone for to replicate the maltiness of milk. TFA Malted Milk, TFA Diary, TFA Cheesecake Crust. I settled for FW Hazelnut because it has never failed me. You will not notice the hazelnut at such a low percentage.

  • FA Fresh Cream — This just adds that extra bit of dairiness to your recipe. Yes, it's a small percentage but trust me, you will definitely notice its absence.

  • FA Meringue — This gives your milk that sweet underlying taste without being too cloying. If you don't have the flavoring, you don't have strawberry milk. That means it cannot be subbed and is essentially a mandatory in this recipe.

So there you have it, a simple strawberry milk. I tried my best to keep it simple without involving too many flavorings (those with 10 - 12 flavorings I find way too complex, and most people won't even mix it up).

Mix it up, give it a week to sit, and then vape away!

In your percentages it says TFA Strawberry, I assume you mean strawberry ripe according to your descriptions. Just wanted to point it out in case you need to edit! Otherwise this looks tasty, gonna add it to the list to mix up. Haven't revisited this profile in too long.

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Nice catch! editing it now. Definitely go with TFA Strawberry Ripe and not TFA Strawberry. Hope you enjoy it.

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

It also says 3:1 ratio; if your 6% CAP Sweet Strawberry and 3% Strawberry Ripe are the correct percents, you meant 2:1 ratio, right?

Looks super yummy.

Well, my one week follow up...This shit is delicious. Smelled so good, a buddy wanted a bottle too.

Taste is pretty damn spot on, maybe a tad less Sweet Strawberry...But, it is damn good.

I wonder if maybe Koolada could add a chilled effect? I've never used it nor have it, but making it just slightly cool would be even better!

1 points

Eggcelent, thx for the follow up.

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Whoops I just saw this. Thanks for mixing it up! Yeah I have been playing around with FA red touch. Perhaps a better alternative would be TFA strawberry ripe and FA red touch at 1:1.

Yes you can add koolada but it's not something I enjoy. Maybe cause I'm accustomed to koolada being used for fruits, I find it offputting when added to creams haha

This is awesome. Somehow in my personal strawberry milk quest I've made recipes that were very similar to this. I'll have to try your variation on the theme. Looks great!

In one of my recipes I put in .35% FA white peach. I've also used .5% FW tres leches, but that has fructose in it... Have you tried adding either to this recipe?

5 points

by tranceinateabout 9 years agoIn a good mood for now - don't piss me off.

I use FA White Peach or FLV Peach or a combination of both to augment the strawberry in my MILF's Milk.

Do it. Strawberry-Peach milk is fucking delicious.

I added 0.3% White Peach to test and OP's recipe is entirely peach flavored. Maybe a slight creaminess but all I really get is peach. Is it really THAT strong? Have 3-4 drops take over a 40 ml bottle?

Maybe I'm just sensitive to this flavor and pick it up better. The more I vape it the more it tastes like a bland creamy peach. Not terrible but hopefully it dies down in a few days.

2 points

by tranceinateabout 9 years agoIn a good mood for now - don't piss me off.

It's fairly strong/about average for an FA flavour but I think you may just be sensitive to it.

1 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

DIY is pretty intricate in the sense that introducing a new flavoring into the mix could totally fuck it up. That's why it takes a lot of time to blend a recipe to perfection.

2 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

FA white peach sounds interesting. I have FW tres leches but the smell does leave s lot to be desired. I'll try the peach one and report back

2 points

by BuickGrandNationalXabout 9 years ago

I know what you mean with the Tres Leches smell, it's not great. I only use it at less than a percent. I like it at .5, and I rarely go over.

I don't know how to describe what it adds, but it's a perceptible difference.

1 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Very interesting, I've heard a lot about tres leches so I'll definitely give that a shot too. Thank you

Of topic, do you really have a GNX? I have one, recently sold my other.

1 points

by BuickGrandNationalXabout 9 years ago

No, I just wanted the coolest name I could imagine. Haven't changed it for three years.

You had 2 GNX? That's awesome. Fastest 2dr sedan in the world at the time, and the fastest 2dr and the fastest sedan. Correct me if im wrong, that was before I was born.

1 points

by Kevin_Wolfabout 9 years ago

I highly doubt that he owned two. A GNX in ok condition sells for over $70k, but good luck finding two. Unless this is Richard Clark's username on reddit, I don't believe it. They only made 547 of them.

1 points

by WorstAdviceROCabout 9 years ago

Well, good choice on a name then! Yep, I've owned #42 and #219. They were by far the fastest car in 87, I've ran from 11.92-12.40's with 2 different cars, but this was in Florida, and the 11.92 was in -1100ft below DA, so about 80 extra hp compared to a 3000ft DA.

2 points

by tranceinateabout 9 years agoIn a good mood for now - don't piss me off.

> TFA Diary.

I didn't know they kept a diary, I bet that'd be a great read.

I'll try this recipe out eventually, but use 3% JF Sweet strawberry instead. I hate caps strawberry with passion. It's gross, no offense.

3 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Lol typo. I would use JF but most people don't have access to that

1 points

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

Would you just use it 1 for 1 to replace CAP or would you also adjust the Strawberry Ripe?

2 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Definitely adjust the ratio for CAP. If you use something like INW strawberry you probably don't want to use the same ratios. I would start lower, maybe at 1:1 INW/TFA

by surfishermanabout 9 years ago

Yeah this looks great thanks , HIC makes you pay for his strawberry Milk recipe & it's probably not even as good as this.

3 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

That's like the highest of compliments. HIC is a great mixer although charging for recipes is a pretty dick thing to do haha

2 points

by vapaioloabout 9 years ago

Isn't it!?! I always thought so, but thought I was just being too critical. But how big of an ego to charge for recipes. Even celebrity chefs release their recipes to the public for Christ's sake. Either way, I'm not a fan of his recipes or his approach. Strictly FA flavors, in my opinion, is sacrificing an entire world of other flavors that could potentially make a mix better. FA is great, but so are many other flavor companies that hit different notes and profiles. His recipes are very limited, and weak in flavor to boot.

1 points

by mikarmabout 9 years ago

While I would never buy a recipe I don't see a big issue with it. People charge for ready made juice and will not give you the recipe. Here you can buy from someone people trust to make a good recipe and make an infinite supply of your own. It's all in who you are selling to, and selling a recipe to a DIY community will produce some understandable salt.

1 points

by surfishermanabout 9 years ago

Well he did take the time so he's not out of line for charging , i'm just used to when he shared with everyone freely when VU was only a couple months old.

1 points

by KingGuardianabout 9 years ago

I purchased 4 of HICs recipes a while back when I first started DIY and honestly it was just a waste of my money :| I made them all once and never after that. One of those was the Quickberry Pink which is the strawberry milk. I know different tanks, wattages, etc play a part in what you taste so maybe HIC tastes something completely different, but for me, none of them were worth making twice. Others may love them though.

1 points

by surfishermanabout 9 years ago

That Quickberry pink was the one i was interested in knowing the flavorings for lol.

2 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

probably Vienna cream, fresh cream, red touch and some other FA flavours

1 points

by mikarmabout 9 years ago

I don't know if it's true but I heard HIC uses a pen vape with a CE4 or something very similar. Quite a lot of people increase his recipes by 25-50% extra because he mixes really low and sometimes the taste doesn't come out without a bit more.

1 points

by KingGuardianabout 9 years ago

Could be. I kind of remember reading on a thread somewhere that he vapes at very low wattages.

here's a fun fact:in this month's clone request thread i asked if somebody knew about Juice Man's Unicorn Porn. It's a strawberry horchata with cinnamon.I just love this juice but i miserably failed in getting the cinnamon right.Your version is damn close to the juice i've been wanting to clone even though you don't have any horchata in it.that's fucking cool

1 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Go with CAP Graham Cracker at 2%. :D

Capella's graham cracker is interesting because it has just a tinge of cinnamon. It's really, really good! Also, if you want a closer clone, you can try adding TFA Horchata Smooth at 1-2%. I'm sure that will bring you close, maybe even 1:1. :D

I'm down. Just whipped up a 30ml batch at 80%VG, and cut all the flavors in half for dripping. We'll see what happens after it steeps.

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Awesome! Let me know how it goes.

1 points

by User_Not_Recognizedabout 9 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

I sampled a bit after it sat for 24 hours, and you're right about the steep. After 4-5 days the creaminess really started to develop, and I must say it's delicious. At 9% total flavor it might be a little light for some, but I'm very happy with it so far.

For reference: dripping on a Derringer clone (Tobeco) dual 26ga at .57Ω running at 27w.

1 points

Why cut the flavors in half for dripping?

RDA = stronger flavor, and often I find that recipes with that much flavor are too much for me.

TPA Vanilla bean icecream would work to give this more body and mouth feel?

Thanks for sharing

Hmmm thing is FA Vienna cream is what gives it that milky effect. You could try TFA sweet cream at 2% if you can't get FA. :)

Great looking recipe. Great that i'm living in country where i can't but FW Hazelnut! Any subs maybe? FW Creamy Hazelnut?

1 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

I've not personally tried FW creamy hazelnut although it's on my list of hazelnuts to get (along with FA hazelnut), so I personally can't vouch for it. You could get away with TFA Hazelnut at 1%. It's a different kind of nut but equally as creamy and delicious. Or if you need anther replacement, you could use INW/FA marzipan at 0.5-0.75%

Made a 60ml of this and just now testing it after 3-4ish days of steep time and I have to say very well done my dude. I really like the fresh strawberry taste to it. The flavor itself reminds me of the one time I tried unicorn milk about a year and a half ago but from what I remember of that taste I like this a lot better. It really makes me curious about how the flavor will change in the next few days if you recommended a well steep. I'd say this is definitely a 3 day steep and that's all it needs if the flavor doesn't drastically change any in the next few days. When I first saw the recipe I was a little skeptical because of the amount of flavoring used and thought the juice may be a bit too busy but this is definitely just a fresh strawberry milk as advertised. May mix a smaller batch and try it with inw marzipan to see if I can get it a little milkier as suggested. I don't really have any cons or suggestions for you though I'm sorry. Definitely could see this getting in my adv rotation.

any chance there is a substitute for vanilla swirl? i might run out on it

3 points

by psykiabout 9 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

Vanilla Swirl is a rock solid "old school" flavor. There are so many newer vanilla flavorings but I look at vanilla swirl as a reliable workhorse, nothing else tastes exactly like it and you always know what you're going to get from it. It's delicious and dynamic over a wide range of percentages.

3 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

You hit the nail right on the head. I have "superior" vanillas like FA vanilla classic or CAP French vanilla and INW vanilla shisha but I keep going back to vanilla swirl because it's so consistent and reliable.

3 points

by psykiabout 9 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

Yep, one of the greatest things about TFA is the predictability and ease of use of their flavors. FA and INW make awesome flavors but they truly do require more precise handling. Like an AK47 vs a sniper rifle; both effective killing machines but one greatly benefits from a skilled and delicate touch.

1 points

by thedirtyprojectorabout 9 years agoMixologist

Not as far as I'm aware. You might be able to get away with TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream at the same percentage, but only if you're one of the few who don't taste pepper from it.

Just tried this, it tastes just like OHW Milk Man that can be made for a fraction of a price, thanks OP!

And without any of the sweetener! Thanks for reporting back :)

This is big-bottle worthy! I gotta admit to being skeptical when I saw yet another strawberry milk, but man, this is by far the best of any that I made or tried. And no surprise to anyone that has used tfa orange cream, but it really changes the game.

I also made a variation using JF Strawberry Sweet @ 3% instead of Cap SS, and it is also very nice. And INW Shisha should work very well also.

Thanks for ending my never ending quest for this profile!

Thanks for making this! That's really nice to hear.I know you probably get sick of hearing it but I'm a big fan of raspberry custard and caramel almond custard. I usually make a 100ml and let it steep.

Thanks for the kind comments! I think I peaked too early, that raz custard has been hard to beat:) Still trying tho.

I am def gonna make 2 big bottles of this milk, one original and one with OC.

You never made it out of the country huh?

Just a matter of time before awesome recipe comes along ;)

Aaaahhh-mazing dude. I just mixed this up and shake n vaped. Delicious. Sadly, I'm missing the Hazelnut and CAP Vanilla custard, so I'm definitely missing some notes, but even without those two, it has a full-flavor, milky, sweet, and strawberry-filled goodness to it.

Thank you so much!

Absolutely. I've attempted make my own mixes, and no. Just no. I'm only two weeks in, but for the time being, your recipes, experience, and advice are essential to me continuing diy.

Then again, I rarely cook my own original recipes, so what's the difference? Haha. Thanks again, and take care!

Seems nice, i only miss a few flavors.

0.5% FW Hazelnut 1% FA Vienna Cream 0.5% FA Fresh Cream 2% FA Meringue

Do i need these? (Well ofcourse i do, but how would it taste without?).

And wich version of CAP Custard? I have TPA Vanilla Custard, can i use it aswell?

Hazelnut adds maltiness Vienna and fresh cream is crucial because it's the backbone of the dairy. Meringue for creaminess and sweetness. You could probably omit the custard or use TPA if you don't taste pepper from it. I'm one of the fortunate few who do.

I finally made this. Let it steep for a week. Tastes really good. The strawberry flavour is a bit candyish in my taste. Is there any way to make it taste abit more like real strawberry?

It's supposed to be candy-ish, like Nesquik. If you want more a more realistic strawberry, use this strawberry base, courtesy of /u/CheebaSteeba.

TFA Strawberry Ripe @ 3%

CAP Sweet Strawberry @ 2%

FA Strawberry @ 1%

What combination of TFA Blueberry Wild and FA Bilberry do you think would work to sub the strawberries? Can't taste them but I want to try your recipe. Something like 6:1 Wild:Bil? I have run out of FW Blueberry sadly...

I like a combo of Wild and Bilberry at 5:1.
