Yellow Cake [ChemNic]
submitted about 9 years ago by R08U57

Setup

RDA/ NaRDA clone Coil/ 6 Wrap Single Fused SS316 Clapton 2×28 core 38 wrap T/ 450F W/ 35 Wicking/ Japanese cotton Ω/0.25

Testing

Steep Time/ 3 days % Used/ 10 PG/VG 0/100 Nic%/ 0

Mouthfeel 6/10

Medium body and sweetness with a light caramel sweetness. I would describe it has having a fluffy/cakey density.

Throat Hit 1/10

Experienced no throat hit.

Flavor Properties

Nice fluffy and slightly moist cake taste with the sweetness having a slight caramel taste to it. The taste is slightly darker/heavier than a real yellow cake.

Relatable Flavors

Most similar to the taboo FW Yellow Cake but this also has some similarity in texture and taste to FLV Cupcake Batter.

Update: to get most similar taste and to substitute for FW yellow cake use this at 2-3 times the % called for FW yellow cake in a recipe. Not quite as potent as FW yellow cake but just as good IMO.

Off flavors

While I wouldn’t consider it an “off” flavor it does have a slight caramel taste to it which may just be how I am interpreting the sweetness.

Position In The Recipe

Would make an excellent base note for bakeries.

Pairings

Creams and fruits. Could see this working well in a parfait recipe or taking the direct replacement at 2-3 times the % called for FW Yellow Cake.

Recipe

Bronuts SANS FW Yellow Cake

7% CAP Glazed Donut 3-4% ChemNic Yellow Cake .75% INW Biscuit .75% FA Joy

Notes

I was eager to try this newly released flavor to pt it against the venerable FW Yellow Cake that has yet to have a “safe” replacement. ChemNic recommends 10-15% of this flavor as a standalone so I started with 10%. It can stand on its own at 10% but it is very simple yet still enjoyable as a single flavor. First thing I set off to do with it was subbing it for FW Yellow Cake in my old favorite Bronuts (props to /u/enyawreklaw). The short of it is that this flavor works as a FW Yellow Cake replacement. Comparing original Bronuts to the subbed version I seem to be noticing less of the “waxy” chocolate taste. That you /u/chrisdvr1 for the formatting I borrowed from. I am a complete n00b for flavor notes as you may have noticed from some of my other posts but got to start somewhere I suppose.

Rating 95/100

Close enough to replace FW Yellow Cake

Call me intrigued! I'm very interested in the flavor, even though it has a slightly different flavor profile. does anyone have a SDS on it though? Just wondering if it's a fructose/diketone free flavor.

Finally, the YC Killa?! I need to get this ASAP and try it in comparison to my own best attempt at replacing Yellow Cake, which proved to work exceptionally well in Bronuts and slightly less successfully in my favorite recipe in the world, Strawberry Shortcake Bar. I'm willing to bet ChemNic's is better, as this is a professional company (I guess? Not sure I've ever heard of them, other than their selling of subpar nic to /u/CheebaSteeba) and I'm just DIY_ejuice's self-appointed village idiot. Any smart professional flavor maker would have been working diligently on this for the past few months and I hope would have nailed it by now. Edit: bad link.

I've fortunately had no issues with their nic. I get the 50/50 100mg. There was some leaking of the bottles of flavoring they sent and I sent them an email and they promptly resent the flavorings that had leaked even though one of the ones that leaked was a free sample.

That's good customer service, gotta like that. I'm in the market for a new nic supplier and will probably take them up on their free sample of nicotine offer at the same time as ordering the Yellow Cake; could be CheebaSteeba was just unlucky, as a quick search turns up nothing else bad about them from any other reliable source.

Have you tried their ChemNic Originals Chocolate Glazed Donut? If so, how does that compare to Bronuts?

I just ordered all of their donut flavors and their cereal flavor and some more nic. They are having a deal right now of free shipping for all their nic. I will report back on their other flavors after I have received and tried them. They ship very quickly as well.

It's possible my sample may have had exposure to oxygen, since it was just a little vial that the free sample came in. As far as I could tell, it was pretty damn good nicotine for the price point, but it wasn't quite as transparent in a mix as the Nude that I'm used to (which is more than double the price). I've been thinking about ordering some of their actual nic and probably some flavorings since this YC seems on point; I feel I can give proper feedback on their nic at that point.

You get what you pay for and you paid nothing for it; makes sense. What doesn't make sense (to me) is how you can vape ChemNic YC at 10% standalone and use 1% of it as sub for 1% FW YC when FW YC is way too strong for 10% standalone. Seems like it would take like 3 to 5% of it. Right?

How have I never heard of this flavoring company. One more for the NeverEnding list. I think your reviews look great glad to have another voice

TYVM for the review, I've been wondering how this flavoring compares!

Nice review! I want to try this now as I loved FW yellow cake but I gotta say ChemNic is a horrible name for a flavor company... Sounds sketch. I'm sure it's fine but damn

> ChemNic is a horrible name for a flavor company

I thought for a bit trying to come up with a smartass name that would be worse but I failed to. Maybe something with "ass" in it but you nailed it.

Just started seeing their flavoring a week or so ago. I was wondering about this flavor as well as a couple of their others that sounded interesting. But after scouring their website I was still unable to find any testing results for their flavorings? Diketones or sugars? Did anyone else find them?
