Ginger Sauce - A Recipe Made by a Ginger
submitted about 9 years ago by Sleepers_Demon

Okay, folks. Here goes nothing. Get some of the boss's sauce while it's hot! Or... Don't... Either way, I'm going to enjoy the fuck out of this recipe. Lucky you, my cat pounced on my face at 5am to wake me up and demand I share this pile of shit I've been vaping.

This is going to be a custard for all the peoples. It's delicious. It's light and fluffy. It's got trouble on its mind. Without further adieu... Recipe...

P.S. I don't know how to table, so deal with the bullet points, please

Ginger Sauce

  • CAP Vanilla Custard v1 6%
  • TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 3%
  • CAP Sweet Cream 2%
  • CAP Graham Cracker v1 1%
  • CAP New York Cheesecake 0.65%

Well, there you have it. This is my baby right now. Loving it to death. Simple, sweet, to the point.

FLAVOR NOTES:

So, it was pretty obious what I was going for with this one: a simple vanilla custard. What I ended up with (after tweaking) was a double vanilla custard deliciousness all over.

  • CAP Vanilla Custard v1: As a flavor base, this was the most obvious choice with what I had when I started this recipe. Simple custard recipe? Grab that bottle of DAPpy goodness and set 'er up. Yessir. The creaminess and heaviness of CAP's Vanilla Custard is exactly what I wanted. Something on the verge of a classic egg custard but not QUITE there yet.
  • TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream: I wanted even more vanilla in this mix, so I went to my current favorite little helper. Not only does this add the nice, warm vanilla that I wanted, it also adds to the creaminess of the mix and sweetens up the custard. Drops the heaviness of the CAP Vanilla Custard just the right amount. This flavor is amazing for what it does, and I feel terrible for the people who taste pepper with it. This also starts what I taste as the second custard in this recipe.
  • CAP Sweet Cream: To further lighten the recipe, I went to CAP Sweet Cream. Now... I have been told that you can't taste this ingredient in this recipe. I disagree, and when I take it out, it's obvious that something is missing. This adds to the TFA VBIC to help make that "second" custard a bit less overbearing. It seems to drop the vanilla just a hair and smooth out the mix. It does help out the CAP Vanilla Custard a lot, I think, as the VC can get very heavy and overbearing. This cuts down the heaviness of the whole mix a little more.
  • CAP Graham Craker v1: I wanted to add a garnish to this recipe, and what better than a bit of graham cracker? It sits in this recipe exactly where it needs to as an accent. You can take it out and it won't drastically change the mix. It just kinda sits in there, in the corner, sipping it's drink and doing its thing. I think this was the perfect accent for this particular recipe as it isn't overpowering in the least, and, come on, it's graham cracker in vanilla custard... They were practically made to be together.
  • CAP New York Cheesecake: Now, I know what you're thinking on this one... "0.65%, Sleepers_Demon? That's not going to do anything, Sleepers_Demon. Go home, Sleepers_Demon. You're drunk, Sleepers_Demon." I swear I'm not drunk yet today. It's only 6am. This is used to add a bit of cheesiness to the mix. I think it works very well, and I love the flavor as is, so I thought "Why the Hell not?" It doesn't stink up the place, it just adds that perfect amount of cheese to the custards. I can't really taste it as a standout flavor, but, again, if it's not there, you'll know. Try it with and without, and you should see what I mean.

And, there you have it. This is my first public recipe, and it went through a few stages... Roughest was trying 10% CAP Vanilla Custard. It was delicious, yes, but it was nothing more than a slightly improved CAP Vanilla Custard at that point. I hope you enjoy this. It's been a favorite of mine for the past few weeks, and I wanted to share the love since you all are so awesome.

I believe this to be a shake and vape. Let me know what you think about that as well. The CAP Graham Cracker v1 does poke out a little more with a steep, but I honestly think you're good to shake and vape this with no real changes after a week to two, unless I'm crazy.

Shoutout to /u/ID10-T for helping me out with this one. You've been invaluable, brother.

This sounds amazing. I don't have the CAP GC or Sweet cream, but I'll try to make it with TFA. I know it won't be the same, but I'm curious to see the results.

Thank you for the post, I've been itching to start working on a Vanilla Custard type flavor. This should give me the inspiration I need.

Edit: Tried with the 2 TFA subs and wow. This stuff is amazing! Thanks again for the recipe I'll be playing around with this recipe a bit. Incorporating strawberry or blueberry into this would be easy and delicious!

This sounds like a really good custard. I love the combo of VCv1 and TFA VBIC, they work so well together. I'm def gonna mix this up if I have enough VCv1 left, I have been needing to re-up for a long time.

What would you recommend for steep time?

Shake and vape, honestly. A few days steep brings out the graham cracker a bit and smooths out all the creams, but it's pretty tasty right away.

Sounds pretty tasty, surprised at the shake and vape but I'll give it a try. Mostly because I'm feeling your love for it.

I beta tested this for him. I never actually "shake-and-vaped" it, but I did mix it at night and try it next day.

I was surprised at how little a week's steep changed it. Given the ingredients, I would have expected significant changes. The lack of changes was a good thing - because it tasted quite good freshly mixed. A week's steep brought out the graham cracker more, though it was already surprisingly and pleasantly very present at 1%. He says you could take it out and it wouldn't drastically change the mix, but I think it's what makes it good. I still say if any ingredient here is expendable, it's probably the Sweet Cream. It also gets smoother after a week. But the change is really quite surprisingly minimal; I think because it's just creamy stuff and a hint of graham - there's no fruit that has to find its place in the recipe or anything like that.

Two vanilla custards mix together very well; I like the way VBIC amps up the vanilla and VC makes it extra buttery. It reminds me of one of those no-bake pies where you mix vanilla pudding mix and pour it into a graham crust, but more complex than that; I'm imagine something like a rich homemade vanilla bean custard poured into graham crust instead instead of one of those box mixes. I get some ever-so slight tang from the cheesecake even that low - and I like it. It's like the opposite of adding sweetener to a juice - it's keeping it all from being too sweet. Bottom line, if you love CAP VC VI and TFA VBIC, you'll probably love this. I mean, look at the ingredients, what's not to love? Dicetyliciousness, baby.

edit: /u/Sleepers_Demon - download RES. Makes table-making easy as pie. Plus you get to tag people, and it puts a little flag by their name that tells you how many times you have up or down voted them.

I was too, and Mr. /u/ID10-T thought so as well. Only thing the steep really did was bring out the graham cracker a little more and blend the creams a tiny bit. It was still mostly the same.

Thanks for the recipe, looks mighty tasty. I'll be adding this to my recipes queue.

This looks like a decent recipe. But no CAP French Vanilla? CAP VC and CAP FV are like a matchmade in heaven.

by Sleepers_Demonabout 9 years ago

Sadly, I don't have CAP French Vanilla. Add some to the mix. See how it works out. I'll have to get some on my next order and see what's up with it.

And I came here looking for a gingerbread vape.

Now, that's a good idea. Might be the next one to tackle.

You should check out Cap - Gingerbread. It has the right taste to it but it overpowers everything I put with it. With a low percent it was bad(to me anyway) but with a high percent it took over. Depending what you want to do that might work for you.

Came here for ginger flavor literally, not a fan of custards, moving on disappointed.

Thanks a lot for sharing the recipe. Mixed this up last night, vaping it this morning. It's delicious. I love the slight touch of sweet cinammon you get from the graham cracker. I've been vaping Third World Order's vanilla custard (minus Butter) for a few months now and have been looking for a new custard to switch things up. I'll be making a lot more of this.

Very welcome! I couldn't keep it to myself for much longer. I'm working on variations of it as well, so we'll see what happens. Enjoy it!

I can see that. Just about the same ingredients minus the CAP Sweet Strawberry and CAP Butter Cream. Wasn't even thinking about that. Let me know what you think, and thanks for the consideration!

New mixer so please bare with --

If I sub CAP Sweet Cream 2% for TPA Sweet Cream 2% how badly would the taste be affected?

2 points

by Sleepers_Demonabout 9 years ago

That, I'm not sure of. I've yet to try TPA Sweet Cream. I can't imagine too much of a difference, but I maybe wrong. Mix 'er up and try! Let me know what you think of the outcome.

Excellent recipe! Mixed as posted, didn't have to substitute anything, cured just under 3 weeks, and have been enjoying the hell out of this. Really creamy and tasty. Reminds me that I need to remember to work CAP Graham Cracker into more cream recipes! Lovely stuff!

Thank you very much! I appreciate the kind words. This was the first recipe I really "went at it" on. Always nice have work pay off for myself and others!

Enjoy it, good sir!
