TFA Key Lime [Flavor Review]
submitted about 9 years ago by wh1skeyk1ngDiketones, Schmiketones

Setup: Plume Veil RDA; dual parallel @ .35Ω; cotton wicks; 45W

Testing: TFA Key Lime @ 3%; Aged: 25 days

Flavor description: Sharp, juicy, tangy, zesty lime taste with a very slight sugared candy nuance. Tart and not overly sweet. Pretty close to what an actual key lime tastes like.

Off-flavors: Nothing but limes here

Throat hit: 10/10 very sharp on the throat by itself.

Uses: Great as an accent (0.5-1%) to other citrus fruits and some berries or top note (2-4%) if you really like limes.

Pairings: Pair 2:1 or 3:1 with FA Lime Tahiti (I use cold pressed) to create a more rounded lime. Thick creams like Bavarian, Cheesecake, or a little Marshmallow are going to help take the sharpness away from this flavor as well. Also works well with citrus fruits, strawberries, and sometimes coconut if you do it right.

Notes: Not a very desirable standalone due to it's harshness. When using this flavor in a recipe, steeping is going to be very beneficial. Shake and vape with this flavoring is going to be pretty rough on your throat and is not recommended unless you're a bit of a masochist. ;)

Vaping my tfa key lime cheesecake blend as I read this. It is indeed, delicious with the cheesecake crust. It accents the lime perfectly, and with the right ratios can get rid of that throat hit the lime has by itself.

Alrighty, I got it from a different website but can't remember which one. All the flavors are TFA/TPA.

  • Bavarian Cream 1.5%
  • cheesecake (graham crust) 6%
  • Graham Cracker (Clear) 2%
  • Key Lime 9%
  • Sweet Cream 0.5%
  • Sweetener 0.5%

I currently have it made with regular Graham Cracker because of a mis-order, but it's still pretty damn good. The Lime may need toned down a little bit by preference, but its a good base recipe imo.

I had a blend with frosted donut and the cheesecake graham..probably my fave concoction. And then I lost my recipe.

This is the main ingredient of my ADV. I spent a while cloning Cape Fear Juice Company - Lumina because it was the best liquid I've ever tasted. I ordered every key lime, cucumber and marshmallow and started mixing. This cloning process definitely taught me that this sub is 100% right about "less is more" after I tried shooting for 15% and failed every single time to get the right flavor. In the end it was a magical mix of only 6.5% flavor.

TFA Key Lime 3%.
CAP Cucumber 2%
TFA Toasted Marshmallow 1.5%

I have burned through over 120ml of this and I'm still not sick of it.

I only make one recipe now, and it uses this flavor. I love it.

PG/VG - 30/70 3mg strength Key Lime (TFA) - 11% Cool Mint (CAP) - 2%

I even shake and vape it with little noticeable difference over time. I did try it with a menthol flavoring instead of the cool mint for a while and that was way harsh, so maybe the cool mint really tames it down.

What kind of setup do you vape with? I ask because 11% TFA Key Lime is... gulp... a lot.

I'm running an evic TC mini with nickel coils and an aspire tank. I've actually got a friend who exclusively vapes this juice from me too. I've only ever used it in this recipe. Maybe I stumbled upon the golden recipe.

Pretty spot on review, but theres a little nuance to TFA key lime.

The flavor tends to mellow out and become muted after a week or so steep. What was once sharp and tangy tends to become dull and muted and a lot flatter of a flavor profile.

It really sucks because I think the flavor is great with a fresh mix but it really loses its "pop" fast and you wind up with something different.

I agree. TFA key lime loses its luster in a long steep. 60ml or less per mix should do the trick. Vape within 2 weeks

Works great with flv sweet coconut. 3% flv tropical punch, 4% flv sweet coconut, 1.5% tfa key lime, 2% la lemonade. Mixed it on a whim and it's one of my best recipes
