Ive been mostly ignoring this shit because its complicated and annoying to read about. I would much rather he reading recipes than crawling through ecr trying to figure out the details.
Is there a hard deadline?
Are any of the lawsuits going to actually delay anything?
Will there be legal avenues to buy nic after the regs hit?
Nicotine is still a grey area, and with a good reason. It's used in many other applications beside vaping so regulating it is not that easy.
Can't shed much information there though. No one really knows what is going to happen in the industry now, and the DIY scene is even more uncertain.
Personally I was rolling my eyes at people who started stockpiling an year/half an year back, thinking it's not the "right" way to do it, and we should fight for ours rights to vape. What about all the people who don't DIY or can't afford to stockpile or haven't started vaping yet -- are they supposed to be left behind?
I'm seriously considering starting to stockpile now however, take that for what it's worth.
This is the first I've heard of the FDA trying to regulate nicotine itself - which leads me to believe that they're not. I'd think that would definitely be one of the things grandfathered in.
This is why i posted this question.. So much misinformation and confusion.
The egs, as written, go into effect august 8th. They say they are giving all ecig business two years to apply for the right to sell. How many business do it, or get approved is unknown. Its estimated that 99 percent wont pass. There are lawsuits and injuctions to fight it. There is the Cole amendment which would help us. But as of right now, the regs go into effect augist 8th, and nothing is banned but underage selling and some marketing stuff. That said, once a law is on the books, its easy to add to it. This long fight was fda getting a law on the books. After august 8th, there is potential for other bad shit to happen, but again, its an unknown. Personally, I would stock up, but not for the end of days. A one liter 100mg bottle should last you forever for personal use. Buy one every 6 months or so until we know more and keep it in the freezer. Again, not the end of days, but i also would want my personal store garranteed.
I never stockpiled , i have a few mods that are a few years old and a few tanks that i keep rebuilding .
My goal was to stop smoking , my goal WAS NOT to vape indefinitely so if it got that bad i would have no issue just stopping .
I honestly never get cravings anymore , i vape more so just because i'm bored but never freak if it's not around.
I bought a 32 ounce bottle of pg/vg/nic base in March that still is 1/8th full. I went ahead and bought a half gallon for $20 just in case to tide me over until we see the full extent of the effects of the deeming regs. I think Diy is the safest way to go to ensure my ability to vape for the foreseeable future. They can't really ban scientific supply companies from selling raw nic right? Too many applications for it as far as my thoughts go. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and sign every damn petition I can....
As it stands, if you DIY, you likely have nothing to worry about. VG, PG, and flavoring will always be available, even in a doomsday scenario. Nicotine has existed as a medical product for a long time, the problem is whether some of the companies will bother to file the paperwork to keep selling to vapers. The product could be sold for any other of its many uses and not require any paperwork, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
Heard about a webinar that the fda had on culture of clouds podcast. Apparently they stated that they (fda) will be going after DIY. They (fda) said that pg and vg will be classified as tobacco products.
I doubt it. PG and/or VG are in like every cosmetic product on the market. If they deemed either of those, every makeup manufacturer would suddenly become a "tobacco manufacturer". This would cause the FDA to become so flooded with lawsuits they wouldn't be able to do anything else for the next 20 years but sit in court. Also, PG and VG were around long before the FDA even existed as an agency, so they would be grandfathered in, and thus would stay on the market in any case.
Technically since nicotine in the concentrations we order has been around and available to order since before the deeming date it shouldn't be affected it of course the FDA will find any means possible to keep cash flowing to the big tobacco overlords. If you can't beat them regulate them out of existence. The profit margins for EJuice are so lucrative that it boggles my mind as to why big tobacco didn't buy into it outside of the mostly pathetic cigalike options currently available. The majority of people looking to stop are wanting a juice that tastes like their smoke of choice and whom would know better to recreate that then the cig makers. But no, big tobacco and big pharma are so tight that they end up doing the same thing sex Ed is in Bible belt states of this abstinence only option. Big tobacco could keep the profits running and have the profits for a longer period of time from their users due to them living longer but then big pharma loses their piece of the pie :( Big pharma does not live by the hypocritical oath at all! Remember "first do no harm".
nothing is really stopping you from buying it the next 2.5 years unless those nicotine companies dont make the slightest effort to comply.
Can you elaborate on this? What do you mean by "comply"
Basically, if they even attempt to comply, they'll be allowed to remain on the market for three years, regardless whether or not they're approved.
Did any US company sell nicotine for DIY use before the date of the regs roll back? If not, we might lose all the ones were used to ordering from eventually and have to order out side of the US.
Not really sure. All this stuff makes my head spin too. Took me a while to find a nicotine company I liked... I don't wanna have to do it again.
You should have stocked up four months ago. Guess you'll be mixing 0 nics now.
2/10
Could be more uninformed.
