I need to dispose of a almost full bottle of 200ml of 72mg/L nicotine VG. What would be the safest way to dispose of it ?
Im an Environmental health specialist.
Best way: take it to a household hazardous waste disposal site. Most towns have one, just google for it. They employ chemists that dispose of way worse shit on the daily. (The one near me is in the hood. I duct tape a phonebook to my chest underneath my shirt before i go there. Use google street view to scope out the location first and determine what kind of PPE youll need for the environment)
Most people just dump it into the sink, rinse the bottle and then trash it. Depending on your local laws though 72mg/L could be considered hazardous waste. Chances are by the time it gets to the pre-treatment plant itll be diluted to almost nothing by the sanitary sewer. So thats probably not a huge problem (except breaking local laws in your kitchen) unless everyone in your town starts dumping nic into their sinks. Then youll get babies born jonesing for a newport out of the womb and your local wildlife may start exhibiting signs of what some ecologists are calling "Fisherian Cloud Bro-selection" in which the local population (namely aquatic animals) begin to select mates on the basis of their clouds.
Id still go with the first option though, despite the stabbing danger.
Thanks! That's the kind of answer I was looking for. That sounds like the most reasonable option. There is a science university nearby where I live, perhaps they have facilities to dispose of it properly ?
If they have any sort of chemistry or biology programs they will definitely have a hazardous waste program in place. The two universities i attended had differing programs. One had a contractor collect it and get rid of it, another compounded it and then had the county take it. Look on the university's website for a "lab manager" or someone with a similar title. If they cant help you they will atleast know who can. But be prepared for them to tell you no. Theres a lot of liability in taking stuff from random people on the streets.
If you want to PM me your approximate location i could see what facilities are nearby.
Is it contaminated or something?
It's in a glass bottle
Sell it
It has gone off and is very harsh. It ruins all the batches of juices I make
While most of the people in here are flavor purists, I guarantee there is still someone who doesn't care and would buy it from you. Just make sure you let them know it's oxidized.
