Updated list of TFA flavors and if they have Diacetyl, Acetoin, and/or Acetyl Propionyl in them.
submitted about 9 years ago by Hyperlite147

List Updated As Of 7/9/16

I updated the list today, but the format wouldn't copy/paste into Google Docs correctly so I had to make a new one. Here is the UPDATED LIST: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qSi3Vohd5SzdD6cpiE1EYVIktAJwphc0YxNOhTRYnI4/edit?usp=sharing

Hopefully it's a bit easier to scan through than the previous list.

You can go to this link above and search by the CAS #. It will show you the flavors with Acetoin and/or Acetyl Propionyl, but it will NOT show you a list of flavors with Diacetyl when using it's CAS #. You have to click through each flavor (which I did) to see the Diacetyl results. You can use my list which will be a much faster reference for you. Hope this helps someone.

CAS Numbers:

Acetyl Propionyl: 600-14-6

Acetoin: 513-86-0

Diacetyl: 431-03-8

There are people who are very valuable members of the DIY community who really appreciate the kind of work /u/Hyperlite147 has done here and I applaud it and will link to it when the subject comes up. My comment was mostly a joke because all I did was add the word "even" to my comment from his original post. It isn't to belittle anyone's effort toward the maximum amount of potential harm reduction they want to undertake.

But yeah, on the other hand, CAP VC V1 for example is face full of heaven and its V2 replacement tastes like barf. It's like comparing European chocolates to Hershey's. Sure, you can eat it, but it tastes like someone ate something good and then did you the favor of partially digesting it before giving it back to you. I'll take my chances savoring that possibly deadly diacetylicousness.

What does the ** mean on some of the flavors?

Alcohol (and other stuff) cause the liquid to have a fairly low flash point - low enough that it has to be shipped as a hazardous product - which plenty shipping companies (and customs agents) don't want to deal with. All those with the ** I cannot import into my country for these reasons

I believe that means they're considered hazardous, and must be shipped via UPS or Fedex. It caused me to remove Key Lime from my last order because I didn't want to pay $18 for shipping.

I'm new here, so please excuse my ignorance. What would make a flavor hazardous?

Alcohol

Many flavors contain skin and eye irritants. Now, in the concentrations we use, it's not a big deal, but undiluted it can be.

At least that's my interpretation of their reasoning.

When I originally copy/pasted the list from the TFA website some flavors had the ** at the end of them. Not exactly sure what it means o.O
