##INW Eucalyptus w/ Mint##
Summary
This to me this is the perfect ingredient to vape when you're sick or have a sore throat. That's not to say it's not enjoyable when you're not sick, but the cooling effects from the eucalyptus and mint are a god send when you are. Although the flavoring is fairly concentrated, it's not as concentrated as some of the flavorings from INW we've come to know and love. At 1.5%, it's quite alarming right away, but after a steep of a few days - 1 week, it calms down to the perfect level of cooling for me. 0.75%-1% is great for if you need a shake-n-vape. Since it's such a different sensation, it does take a few pulls to acclimate yourself to the cooling, which I've noticed is very forward on the upper-back of the throat. Overall, it's a very accurate representation of Eucalyptus with just a touch of Mint (I get more mint than menthol).
On the Nose
Very cooling, eucalyptus, slight mint note. Clears out your sinuses.
Recommended Usage
Stand alone: 1.5-2%
In a mix: <0.75-1.5%
Throat
Mild; cool.
Pairings
Fruits, florals, mint.
Avoid
Coffee? IDK.
Steep
4 days - 1 week for the cooling to calm down to a desireable level. Just bring it down a notch or two if you need something right away
Quick Recipe: Lemon & Honey Cough Drop
Ratio: 15PG/85VG
Steep: 4 days - 1 week
- INW Eucalyptus w/ Mint @ 1.5%
- JF Lemon Juicy @ 3%
- FLV Honey Bee @ 1-2 drops per 15ml (0.25%)
INW Eucalyptus w/ Mint is definitely the star here, offering a wonderful cooling sensation and enjoyable throat & vape. The lemon or other fruits here just offer a nice accent flavor that blends well with eucalyptus w/ mint so your palate doesn't get bored. JF Juicy Lemon is great since it's a fantastic lemon flavor without any unwanted throat from citric acid that other lemons offer.
If you don't have FLV Honey Bee, you can probably sub FA or TFA in its place, but I personally liked the Honey Bee. I tried it without the Honey and found it not quite as enjoyable. It offers a nice sort of floral sweetness to the mix. Honey also takes a while to steep to be enjoyable, otherwise it will just be too forward and in your face. I liked it at 2 drops in 15ml, but feel free to bring it down to 1 drop so it's not so prominent. I feel a lot of people would probably prefer at 1 drop.
Quick Recipe: Cherry Cough Drop
Ratio: 15PG/85VG
Steep: 4 days - 1 week
- INW Eucalyptus w/ Mint @ 1.5%
- FLV Bing Cherry @ 1.5%
I really like the FLV Bing cherry here too. It's got a sort of "Luden's" cherry taste to it which pairs very well in a cough drop. Feel free to try subbing your favorite cherries, berries, other fruits, etc with Eucalyptus w/ Mint to create your perfect Cough Drop
12/10 perfect review; I pretty much wholeheartedly agree with you.
/u/skiddlzninja & /u/notcharlesmanson can't seem to use it above .25% - damned pussies.
Awesome ty man lol. Yeah even at 1% it's nice right away but definitely not forward enough after a steep. I saw your Rejuvinator uses it at 2% and thought that seemed high at first, but I can see it working. What's the steep time on it?
Rejuvinator, Terminator of Respiratory Illnesses. Lmfao, nice typo.
No steep, shake & vape. It really mellows out in the first week or two. By a month it's completely lost all depth. The lemon-lime is gone, & the melony goodness becomes flat along with the eucalyptus/mint. Its best fresh & within the first 3-4 days, IMO. The cap to a 30ml plastic bottle once exploded/cracked when I tried to untwist it after a 3-month steep, btw.
Haha, who said it was a typo? =P
Oh wow, that's weird lol. Well it gives me a reason to pick up the Limes from FA that I've been putting off for a while. Will probably be picking those up next order so I have another eucalyptus mix to make when my buddies or I are under the weather. Looks really flippin tasty
I love Euc W/Mint! I love it anywhere from 1-3% 3% Standalone with a little FA Honey (diluted of course) or sweetener just to sweeten it a touch. Lemon is a great thought too. It also plays well with INW Green Tea, TFA Honeysuckle, CAP Blackberry, FA Raspberry, and INW Cherry. Great notes, couldn't agree more. I vape this stuff even when I'm not sick now.
Have you tried FLV Honey Bee by itself? Straight up tea bags all up in my face at 2.5%. I'm scarred from trying it at that percentage, but I know I used it way too high
Hahaha, man, I can't even imagine. Did you let it steep first or go straight for it? I almost tossed this batch with the honey bee straight-away just due to how forward the honey bee was at just 2 drops lol. After a steep though that one calms down quite a bit. It's nice though when you have a sore throat since you can't really taste anything else lol.
I've got an Eleaf iJust2 that I always keep pre-loaded with 0mg 3% INW Eucalyptus Mint as a palate cleanser between flavors, or when I'm just all pollened-out on windows-open days.
You just inspired me to build on my old stand-by, and make it way more interesting. Thanks /u/CheebaSteeba! Your recipes are always refreshing.
I recently found out about medicinal vaping and it's all fascinating. I have melatonin/valerian and that's like taking knockout gas. It's so perfect.
I have an energy drink one that I like too much, I'm actually a little concerned about inhaling ginseng, you know?
Someone is gonna figure out how to make wine and schnapps ejuice... some day.
I finally got this an I love it, thanks for the write up. I have not had too much time to play with it yet, I was wondering what you would recommend to boost the eucalyptus flavor without increasing the menthol.
I tried it at 2% and the eucalyptus was very nice but the menthol was a bit too much.
In short I am trying to increase the herby/medicinal flavor. I tried a gum from an arab country called mastic gum and I think something like that would go great with it.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Not sure about the gum, but I would recommend other florals to accent the eucalyptus. I would say try it with a honey flavor, or check out my Summertime for another recipe that focuses somewhat heavily on the eucalyptus aspect. There are some other good ones out there like /u/tranceinate 's Rejuvenate, so it would prob be a good idea to take a look around at some of the recipes using the ingredient. Also /u/HocusKrokus is a fan of the Eucalyptus, so I'm sure he's got some good recipes using it or could contribute some insight.
The mastic gum I tried had a really woody flavor, like pine sort of. If you're after an herby/medicinal flavor look at maybe TFA Horehound or FW Sassafras. Eucalyptus fits in with both of those, or at least it's likely to. I haven't developed many recipes with the Euc, mostly because I enjoy it so much on it's own I don't often feel like it needs much help.
