Mine is:
- 2% Inawera melon
- 1.5% Inawera cherry shisha
- 1% Inawera cactus
- 1% TFA strawberry
Dear lord it's bad
This one will amuse...
Ok, so my venture into DIY began with buying a crappy starter kit, which came with some flavour concentrates bearing a "recommended usage: 15-20%" sticker. They were shit.
My next purchase was exclusively FlavourArt, and one of my selection was Hazelnut. I love hazelnut. I wanted a hazelnut vape. And y'know, 15-20% was ok last time...So I made this...
FA Banana 10% FA Hazelnut 5%
Holy fucking shit sticks. No. Just #NO
That doesn't even sound good on paper.
I don't know what sounds good yet as this is my second attempt at DIY.
I didn't think that melon, strawberry and cherry is necessarily a bad mix, in real terms. Didn't translate well at all. The cactus as I had read was just meant to 'spruce' up fruit flavors.
Here's some unsolicited advice that I wish someone told me when I started DIY.
For right right, just look up recipes that sound like you would like them, and try them out. After enough time you'll be able to understand how the flavors work and taste together, something you'll only gain from practice and experience. Eventually, you'll be able to think up and just make up a recipe, and most of the time it will be great.
Well, I recently purchased a roast beef flavor out of pure curiosity.. even thou it's a single flavour I guess that qualifies.
I don't even remember what the numbers were but one of my first mixes was trying for a blueberry donut. Used like 10% CAP glazed donut and straight playdoh from the first wiff. Tried letting it steep in hopes but ended up pouring it out.
> 10% CAP glazed donut and straight playdoh from the first wiff
Have you found a % that works for you? I did purchase some CAP glazed donut but have never used it for that very reason. Every donut juice I purchased before DIY tasted like play-doh.
To be honest I had given up on it. I'm going to go back to it now that I have more experience.
I have a feeling it's going to take more than just Glazed donut to get the profile, similar to bronuts using FW yellow cake and joy for the donut profile.
Rhondite. Turns out I can't vape anything with FA Fuji, it only ever tastes like apricots to me. Nothing wrong with the recipe, in fact, I like it with Cherry subbed in for the Fuji. But it took me SO long and SO many mixed trying to figure out if my %s were off or whatever.
Nope. Just can't stand Fuji. Weird how our taste buds can be so different!
Also makes me wonder if the aromatic volatiles in FA Fuji share any with Apricot flavors.
FLV Crunch cereal.
I've tasted bad flavours before, but holy crap does this one take the cake. Tastes of festering dirty gym socks mixed with dirt and completely ruins any mix I add it to no matter how low of a percentage.
Want to accidentally vape jalapeños and freshly cut grass? Try this. Link
TPA Ripe Strawberry - 5%
TPA Pear - 5%
TPA Kiwi Double - 1%
TPA Fruit Circles - 1%
TPA Vanilla Swirl - 2%
FA Meringue - 1%
Haha I feel you mate, I think I'm in the same boat as you. Got weird taste plus I've never cooked so I have no idea how to flavour pair.
That's why I love this hobby so much, it's opening me to new horizons :)
Have many scraped projects, part of the hobby.
I'm in the same boat as not knowing how to cook.... Like at all. I got one or two dishes that actually require fresh things to be cut, added, and cooked opposed to just thrown in the oven.
I think the only thing I've ever made food wise that could be transferred to a juice would be strawberries and blueberries chopped up, mixed with sugar, and laid over a mini yellow sponge cake (can't even remember what you call it).

1% Beau Lavender
First vape was great, after that it went downhill sharply and ended up in potpourri city.
1% FA Anise
2% CAP Cucumber
2% INW Coconut
Tasted absolutely disgusting. Anise is best used at below 0.005%
Good god man.... Anise & Cucumber! I would puke.
Side note, still trying to make a cook watermelon cucumber vape. Seems easy enough, but can't get there... Even though I own two different watermelon flavors and two different cucumber flavors.
Not sure if anyone has heard of Coval Vapes. But they got a juice called Buck's that got me into that profile. Good juice, but I think the right mixer could even make a better one.
Yeah, I was thinking outside the box for that one. Maybe too far outside it tbh.
Never heard of Coval Vapes, have not bought juice in like 2 years.
TFA Cucumber can do some weird things to mixes (over 0.6%), it is far stronger than CAP's too. Not sure which ones you have, nor the flavour you are after, but I am sure someone here has experience with Melons ( giggedy ).
Anise... Oh god. I am not a fan of anise/licorice anyway, but a buddy of mine used to vape pints of Pluid back in the day.
Neon green licorice, and bottles were more coveted than the original small batch cereal killa.
Same here, hate anise/liquorice too, but bought it due to seeing HIC's TIC TAC recipes...
Pluid sounds dreadful, anise is best left alone. Sadly it seems to be following me or something, the only Apple I have at the moment is Bahraini Apple. Why do that?
Anything with tfa English toffee. I just can't do it
That is a pretty stinky flavor, pretty tough to work with. Did you try that recipe I suggested to you in the TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust flavor review thread?
Just an update, after about five days this is much more palatable than anything ive mixed with English toffee. That nasty smelly feet smell is way less intense. Thanks again man, I really appreciate it
Back when I started vaping, there was a juice called "bees knees" which was a mystical unobtainium flavor. Reported to be tfa blueberry and honey, one of my first diy experiments was to try to make my own.
I think the first few batches were 1% incremental tweaks, 10 in all in 5ml bottles, centered around 5% of each. 1% blueberry 10% honey on one end, 10% blueberry 1% honey on the other.
I still shudder at the horror of most of those flavors. I must have completely ruined 3-4 boxes of coveted batches of cartomizers testing that sequence. Once the honey gets on something, that flavor is eternal. Pretty sure I ended up tossing several delrin and stainless drip tips too.
I'll never know if the original flavor was any good, but any version I concocted was straight vomit.
I made super high vg stuff when i first started. Just vg and like 30 drops of flavor. Tried this with lorann pina colada (gag) coffee (ew) and even maple didn't do it for me.
I was copying a local "mix your own" procedure. Little did I know they likely diluted with water and certainly diluted with at least 1ml/30ml sucralose. Stuff cooked coils within a day every time.
Anyone with experience with this flavour knows why this was so horrible. It was my 2nd ever order of concentrates and I decided to mess around with some of the "fancier" manufacturers, besides FW and TFA. I decided to mix up a simple strawberries and cream inspired by Mustard Milk!
- 3% INW Wild Strawberry
- 4% FA Fresh Cream
Ughhhh... let's just say, I now know that even 1 drop of Wild Strawberry can overpower other flavours in a 10ml bottle!
Fresh Cream probably tastes pretty funky at 4% too, but there was no creaminess to this mix, no sir... just potpourri pine-sol death.
Pretty much every time I tried to do something with FA Condensed Milk. Last time I tried one drop in a 30ml and it ruined it. One. Single. Drop. And yet, it feels like the flavor could work if only it wasn't so overwhelming. So, because I'm an idiot, I guess sooner or later I will try to use it again.
I tried Cap Maple Pancake Syrup with TFA Belgian waffle and brown sugar. Had initial hopes this was going to be delicious but OH MY it was the wet sock vape again. Thankfully I only decided to make a 5 mil of it for testing. Weird thing is that 8 months later it tasted great. Just the 7 months before was horrible. So Cap Maple Pancake Syrup is difficult to pin down, hasn't worked in anything I've tried. Just to add another disgusting one would be TFA Taro - made a mix of this one and made my buddy gag to the point of almost throwing up.. Did I say that was funny.LOL!!
A while back I tried a "random flavor game" where I put all of my flavors in a randomizer and mixed with the top 5. Here's What I came up with:
- FA Liquid Amber - .5%
- TFA Apple Pie - 5%
- TFA Guava - 2%
- CAP Sugar Cookie - 3%
- TFA Champagne - 1%
This one I definitely threw in the trash and re-wicked right after tasting it lol
Anything with tfa watermelon. "Oh hell nah"
Really? I absolutely love tfa watermelon.. to each is their own I suppose..
I've always got a nasty chemical taste. Just ordered some capella double watermelon to try something new. Hoping I can find something that I'll enjoy.
Ive yet to mix something that's hasn't tasted good. I haven't tried anything very sketchy yet either though
Then you are seriously limiting your experience with DIY ejuice my friend. I have easily made over a dozen bad recipes trying out random combos.
Black forest cake was a hit or miss for most, tutti fruity based fruit mix, my first version of preach (peach pear cake) Apple pie (thanks to botboy I no longer work on an Apple pie recipe) the list goes on..
But all in all, if you're only getting good recipes then you're either very lucky or not very daring and curious. Lol
