For anyone who's interested I've somewhat cloned a popular ejuice. The original is Elements Strawberry Whip.
I recently got a bunch of flavours through on a huge order I made for few friends and I chucked in a few concentrates for testing. Without further ado here is my recipe!
- 4% TFA Ripe Strawberry
- 3% INW Shisha Strawberry
- 3% CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Notes:
Right off the shake and vape this tastes like a nasty strawberry jam nightmare. I know some people might look at these percentages and go yuck! Rest assured I made this yesterday and within 1 day the creaminess of the VBIC is coming through nicely and the strawberry is toning down at a good pace too. I have however shaken and recycled the air in the bottle at least 3 times in the last 24 hours since the mix. I'd give this a steep of 3 days to a week depending on your VG and PG. It's currently at a 50/50 mix to try and let the flavour come through quicker but I definitely feel a 70/30 or higher would provide a smoother vape at this early stage. I took this juice to a friend this evening who works in a vape shop and the first thing he said was it tastes just like the real thing but a bit overpowering.
This was supposed to be a jammy strawberry ice cream in my head.. think like raspberry ripple but with strawberry. Two my surprise I accidentally cloned one of my favourite juices! I don't think this is perfect yet but this is a very good starting point to anybody who would want to take this to a perfect clone. If you do please share your notes!
Give this time to mellow a bit and you got yourself a nice and cheap alternative to an already great juice. This has been too good to keep to myself so I've posted it here the first chance I've had today. I hope more people enjoy this as much as I have!
Edit:
So after reading some of the comments it was suggested I add a few notes on why I chose the flavourings I did. For the most part I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I do know the value and importance of the community and sharing notes. I have read reviews recently regarding both the strawberry flavourings on this very sub. Ripe Strawberry for the sweet but earthy tones and shisha for the more jammy notes. I've read a lot of posts here about how people seem to have a preference of a 2:1 ratio of ripe/shisha for their mixes. I also Google flavourings and do some research on multiple recipes sites to find suggested percentages other have used in their recipes to give me a starting idea of where I want my juices to be a land read their notes too. The eliquid recipes site has a feature whereby you can view your Flavouring you are using and it tells you average percentages used in juices and the mixes containing them so you can further breakdown what other recipes were trying to achieve. This gave me a base of 4% Ripe and 2% shisha but I decided to up the shisha a percent because the jammy notes were what I was going for. I wanted a sharper jammy taste.
As for the VBIC I read a LOT of recent posts all-out how this goes peppery and tastes like vomit at higher percentages. Cautious of this I saw the average user percentages were around 4 percent and people had said this tasted weird to them even at 4. So again I tweaked a 1% on this to give me my first batch of what is supposed to be a double strawberry ice cream. Strange how once my wicks have had some air get to them it tastes spot on strawberry whip! For future reference I'd probably drop the shisha strawberry down to 1% if you wanted an exact clone.
Looks good. For a 1:1 Elements clone experience just add a fuckton of sucralose to this.
This.
That's why all their juices look so cloudy XD
This is not the "peppery" VBIC you're thinking of... it's the TPA version that has a black pepper essence. Cap VBIC has none of that. In any case, thanks for the post.
Is CAP VBIC peppery too? Or was it just TFA.
It's just TFA. In fact, any recipe that calls for the TFA version, I attempt to sub in the CAP.
I'm exactly the opposite. To me, CAP taste like old wet socks.
I have a brother that's 10 years older than me so I've tasted quite a lot of 'shit' in my youth, but fortunately, old wet socks isn't among the list, haha.
Edit: Also, I read somewhere that the TFA version only tastes peppery to some people and there's some technical reason for it.
Rules broken.
Last time I made a similar thread it was explained to me that a thread with just a recipe was unacceptable. Flavour notes added and thought processes were to make these more acceptable threads.. no?
He's referring to rule 6 on the sidebar: Recipes belong in the monthly thread, UNLESS they offer SIGNIFICANT development notes or other info that helps mixers up their game.
I don't entirely agree with that rule, as this sub can get fairly stagnant as it is without the occasional recipe thread (as long as there is some detail with the recipe, as this post has), but with the new rule enforcement you may see this getting pulled.
More helpful notes would be why you chose the flavors and the percentages you ended up using. Your notes seem to be more about your impression of the finished product. While I think it's great you landed on a good recipe, this seems more appropriate for the monthly thread because it doesn't impart anything others can learn from.
