Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of July 01, 2016
submitted about 9 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

Hey i just ordered my first flavous. I want to try mix some fruity custard/creamy flavour. Flavors I've ordered are:

TFA DX Bavarian Cream

TFA Banana Cream Dx

TFA Strawberry

TFA Kiwi (Double)

TFA DX Cinnamon Danish

TFA Sweetener

FA Fuji Apple

FA Anise

FA Watermelon

CAP Vanilla Custard V2

CAP Sweet Strawberry

Would love some simple recipes with 3-4 Flavours. Something with strawberry, cream and maybe a bit of cinnamon? Also any recipes that have a slight touch of anise would be nice! dont like that flavour as a main ingredient but maybe some fruit as a main + anise aftertaste would be delicious!

Thanks for all answers :)

And yes I will try every flavor on its own first, but i want to mix something that is proven to be good, so it can steep in the meantime.

  • Bavarian Cream 2%

Strawberry Cream

  • TFA Strawberry 3%

  • Vanilla Custard v2 1,5%
  • (Maybe DX Cinnamon Danish 1,5%?)

Appreciate every suggestion!

Just made my first order to give DIY a go! I ordered flavors to make 2 different yogurt recipes I found on ELR. (a peach yogurt, and blueberry raspberry yogurt--they called for different juicy peach brands, so I just ordered CAP instead of both that and TFA)

Here are my flavorings headed my way:

TFA: Bavarian cream **** Whipped cream **** Greek yogurt **** Orange cream

FW: Blueberry

CAP: Juicy peach

INAWERA: Raspberry

I'm going to make both recipes, but am wondering if you guys might have any other suggestions! Thanks!

TFA Bavarian Cream 5%

TFA Whipped Cream 3%

INW Raspberry 2%

That Raspberry is one of my favorites from INW, but be careful, it's fairly strong.

2 points

by Spiffy_L1amaabout 9 years ago

Sweet! Yes, I read that about the INW raspberry being strong, and that steeping for a while after mixing will mellow it out. Raspberry and cream sounds super awesome though! Thanks for the suggestion.

I dont have a lot of flavours, but i already made some blueberry cheesecake, which im not too content with, but im getting there (i have to adjust the ratios abit).

Here goes my List

TFA Blueberry Extra

TFA Strawberry

TFA Strawberry Ripe

TFA Dragonfruit

Capella Cheesecake

Capella Lemon Meringue Pie V2

Capella Italian Lemon Sicily

I like cake like things with a bit of fruit, i also like fruity juices which arent too sweet and with a bit of mint/menthol in it, so id consider buying something like that.

Hey hey! Long time reader, first time poster. Been mixing for a couple weeks now and have a couple recipes down that I'm digging, but thought it would be helpful to get some suggestions here! Here's the flavours I have that I have tested:

TFA Honeydew

TFA Bubblegum

TFA Peppermint

TFA Watermelon

FW Watermelon

TFA Green Tea

TFA Juicy Peach

FW Boom!

CAP Double Apple

TFA EM

TFA Koolada

CAP Lemon Sicily

TFA Chai Tea

TFA Sweet Tea

FW Iced Tea

My primary goal was to make a clone of Space Jam Pluto, but so far the two recipes I found and tried weren't even close.

I've been making some recipes that have turned out quite good, but they're all borrowed from this subreddit and/or e-liquid-recipes.com:

Kryptonite Clone

FA Watermelon - 15%

TFA Peppermint - 1 drop per 15mL

Peach Green Tea

TFA Green Tea - 10%

TFA Juicy Peach - 6%

Slotter Pops Clone

FW Boom! - 14%

TFA EM - 2%

I do recommend giving these a whirl, but perhaps someone has suggestions of what else I can do with these flavours?

1 points

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

Honeydew and Peach go really well together and this should give you an idea of how much flavor you can accomplish without using 15-16%: TFA Honeydew 2%, TFA Juicy Peach 3%.

If you like that, you could play up the melon by adding some TFA watermelon (like 4%) or give it a little tangy zing with some of your CAP Lemon Sicily (I'm guessing 1% - that flavor will be on my next order).

2 points

by d_chevronabout 9 years ago

Thanks! I didn't even think of a Honeydew/Peach combo, but that really sounds tasty. I'm gonna play with this tonight :-)

Been doing DIY for a while and I'm having the equivalent to "writers block". So if you can then help would be appreciated My flavors are:

FA Vienna Cream

FA Orange

FA Fresh cream

FA Mandarin

FA Yogurt

FA Raspberry

FA Fuji

INW Shisha Strawberry

INW Biscuit

TFA Bavarian Cream

TFA Sweet Cream

TFA DX Sweet Cream

TFA Greek yogurt

TFA Sweet Raspberry

TFA Pineapple

TFA Sweet and Tart

TFA Jamaican rum

TFA Vanilla Swirl

TFA Coconut Extra

TFA Coconut Candy

TFA Strawberry Ripe

TFA Marshmallow

TFA Grape Candy

TFA Grape juice

FW VBIC

FW Grape

FW Grape Juice

FW Yogurt

FW Hard Candy

Edit: I have found one recipe that I always go back to. Introducing Strawnapple

INW Shisha Strawberry: 3%

TFA Pineapple: 2%

TFA Bavarian Cream: 3%

TFA Sweet Cream: 1.5%

FW VBIC: 3%

Notes: Very good shake and vape. Right off the bat, you get that sweet strawberry and citrus fruit note that no other pineapple will give you on the inhale. On the exhale, the Vanilla is dominant along with the other heavy creams on the palate with the slightest hint of confectioners sugar for some weird reason. Easily my fave recipe

2 points

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

Try try replacing one ingredient of your Strawnapple with a comparable % of another ingredient and see if you can make it taste even better. The Sweet Cream seems like it would be the most dispensable; what would it taste like if you replaced that with, for example, Vienna Cream, Fresh Cream, Coconut Candy, Strawberry Ripe, Marshmallow, or one of your grape flavors or a blend of grape flavors? Only one way to find out!

I don't have any go-to mixes with exclusively these flavors, but I will present an offering per /u/ID10-T's suggestion:

Banana + Cactus = Fun Time

base flavors:
INW Cactus - 1%
INW Pear - 1%
LA Banana Cream - 2.5%
top note accent:
INW Raspberry - 0.5%
recipe enhancers for mouthfeel/blending
FA Meringue - 0.75%
TFA Dragonfruit - 0.5%

That should be pretty damn tasty...gonna have to mix this up myself now. This exercise was fun. Happy mixing!

Isn't it fun? You should stop by the "Suggest A Recipe" thread more often. Or if you're too busy playing with your pokeballs for that, at least say you don't mind being summoned when I see a collection of flavors that seem to be up your alley.

2 points

I don't mind at all, thanks for the summons! I will indeed have to make it a point to stop by more often.

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

So much you can do with those flavors! Is there one in particular that you like and want to use more of, or want that you want to like but haven't quite figured out what to do with yet?

Meanwhile, try this Snickerdoodle Cookie: CAP Sugar Cookie 7%, CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl 3%, TFA VBIC 2% and/or Peanut Butter Cookie: CAP Sugar Cookie 7%, TFA Peanut Butter 4%, TFA Vanilla Swirl 1%

Also: /u/philosaphucker - When I saw the first three ingredients on this list I immediately thought of you, wanna throw this mixer some cactusy bones? Meanwhile I'm about to try INW Pear for the first time this morning; getting ready to make Spiny Pear II and Spiked Nanners soon.

I was going to post a recipe, but I forgot what it was...I've been distracted by pokemon...lol. Maybe it will come back to me. What do you think of INW Pear?

1 points

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

I'm too old for that crap. Take your pokie-whatevers and GET OFF MY LAWN.

INW Pear is amazing. I think mixed it a little too high, got just a hair too much crisp from it, but damn. Like biting right into a fresh Bartlett. You can even taste the skin on it. I've tried every reasonable combination of TFA and FA pears and while those both have their places and aren't bad, INW's blows them both out of the water in flavor and authenticity. Two thumbs way up.

I'm ideally looking to make something with the Grape as I got it to make a grape liquid for my SO who, after trying Elements Far Grape juice, wanted a grape vape. Other recipe suggestions are welcomed too though.

1 points

by ID10-Tabout 9 years ago

Have you tried giving your SO a small bottle of just grape as a standalone flavor? I don't have any experience with that flavor but my suggestion is find a good standalone % for the CAP Grape and get some feedback on it, then carefully introduce other ingredients. For example, 5% Grape standalone (5% is usually a pretty good % for CAP flavors, though there are exceptions). The reaction you get might be "I like this but it needs to be just a creamier/fuller, more tangy, more sweet."

Then you could follow up by making like three bottles of different flavors.

Creamer/Fuller: CAP Grape 5%, TFA Bavarian 2%. CAP Grape 5%, CAP VBIC 2%. CAP Grape 5%, TFA Vanilla Swirl 2%.

Tangy/tart: One 5% CAP Grape with 2% CAP Lemon Lime, one with 1% FA Lemon Sicily, one with 3% TFA Dragon Fruit.

Sweeter: One 5% CAP Grape with 2.5% TFA Strawberry, one with 2.5% Strawberry Ripe, one with 1% FA Meringue

Found out which one the SO likes best and continue tweaking from there. Eventually you'll wind up with a grape vape perfectly suited for your SO's palate. It's a lot of work, but so are relationships.

Also, I've never tried the Elements juice but from what I've read about them, adding CAP Lemon Lime to grape is probably going to be your best bet if you don't want to start with standalone Grape and play the gradual tweaking game. If you find that it's the CAP Grape that's not working, try INW Grapes and FLV Grape.

Just a tip. I wouldn't mix any of those flavors at 13% (saw your post a little bit ago). Make separate samples at different percentages. I usually do 1, 3, 5, and 10% (10% to see if a flavor gets funky at a higher percentage, as they usually do) flavor, no nic, 70/30 vg/pg. Make notes for the flavors as to what you thing it might go with, what you think you taste in it, etc. . With what you have, it might be difficult to make something. I have yet to try any of those besides FW Yellow cake. I'll wing it, though, like you asked...

Try this:

"Sleepers_Demon Winged a Strawberry Cake for vaporbreath"

  • FW Yellow Cake - 2%

  • TFA Ripe Strawberry - 4%

  • FA Custard - 2%

Haven't tried FA Custard, but if it's a vanilla custard, it'll add a bit of a frosting note. Not too high, because it shouldn't overpower the mix, obviously. If my calculations are correct, TFA Ripe Strawberry at 4.5 should add strawberry in there with still being able to taste the delicious FW Cancer Cake and the FA Custard. FW Cancer Cake is going to be... Well... The cake. At 2% it should make itself known in the presence of a strawberry and a custard. Again, I haven't used either FA Custard or TFA Ripe Strawberry as of yet, so it may be slightly off. It would probably be pretty tasty regardless, though, so give it a try.

Good luck out there, buddy. Just remember to experiment with single flavors so you know what each one does and what it will add to your mix.

2 points

by [deleted]about 9 years ago

I'm going to give that one a try, I had similar strawberry cancer cake(WARNING!) but was about 14%(7/7) and with maltol, got really funky and now I know my flavorings are way too high. I did make one about ~~8%~~10% b/c the rainbow drops nearly killed my taste buds on a test recipe being so freaking strong and it has been the best so far. It was

orange 7%

rainbow 1%

koolada 1%

sour 1%

So thinking drop the orange to 4-5%. I really should test individually but I am a little short on bottles.

3 points

by Sleepers_Demonabout 9 years ago

Take a look over at somewhere like Wizard Labs. They have "3ml" bottles (they're actually 5ml bottles) for really cheap (probably cheaper somewhere else, but I'd rather not eat more shipping on bottles when I get my nic there anyway). I try and keep a bunch on hand, because I am addicted to getting more flavors (I'm out of baby bottles myself). If you're worried about running out of bottles, get some glass bottles with droppers. You can clean those pretty easy with a distilled water rinse, a shake, and then a 91% is-alcohol rinse. The iso will evaporate away and shouldn't leave any residue.

Remember with flavors to start low. If you fudge up and it's gross, that 15ml bottle of juice only costs 50-75 cents. Not a major loss when compared to a 15ml costing 10-12 bucks in a B&M.

Has anyone tried making a Lavender Lemonade recipe. I tried one from a shop in KC, MO and it was amazing. It was expensive so I didn't get it. I would love to make one. It was good enough to be my elusive ADV.

Edit: I talked to the guy a bit when I tried it and he mentioned that they used about 5 flavors and that it took them about 6 months to nail the flavor.
