Moment of Bliss
submitted about 9 years ago by Gregeddit

I could not help but stop in and make a post to thank the community. Last night I was kicked back, watching netflix, taking a long pull off a Velocity style RDA. The wick pop-pop-poppin with the perfect amount of a simple DIY pear juice I made a week ago. I then looked into my steeping drawer and found easily 300ml of juice that are in various stages of maturity.

And then it hit me. I'm finally at a point where I have all the means to keep myself stocked with DIY juice, for the foreseeable future, and while I'm still experimenting with some flavors, I've found 3 very simple ones that I can vape all day without suffering from sensory adaptation.

Thanks DIY, and ecig community for all the resources that you guys have provided. :)

That's a great feeling- self-sufficiency... I buy less than 5 'premium' juices a year-and most of those purchases are just to be polite...at vape meets, for example... We pursue a hobby that enables us to vape personalized flavors-nothing but the best for ourselves!

Would like to know your simple pear juice. Just single flavor? TFA?

Hell, would be nice to know all 3 very simple ADV's.

I also have three simple mixes, I vape more complex stuff occasionally but could get by with just these and always have them on hand:

  • 3% Flavourart Forest Mix; 1% Koolada
  • 2% Inawera Natural Mint; 1.25% Flavourart Vanilla Classic (Madigascar vanilla)
  • 2% Inawera Eucalyptus & Mint; 2% Flavourart Orange (Still a work in progress)

I just got eucalyptus and mint for a rendition of the grack recipe I've seen around, the one with inawera grape and 2.5% cactus among others.

How do you like that flavor? Is it pretty strong?

Haven't tried the grack yet, but as far as E&M is concerned, I personally love it. /u/notcharlesmanson seems to be a fan too.

It's pretty strong, yeah. I like it standalone at 2-2.5% and it's a sinus clearer. Literally drained one of my nostrils, was nice.

I'm having a hard time getting the citrus to be prominent while still keeping the potency of the E&M. I've tried lemon and orange so far but am hesitant to bump up the %'s to the level I think they need to be at.

Now that I think about it I have some FW grapefruit that's been gathering dust.. that might work nicely.

I have used FA Mandarin with eucalyptus & mint with good results. I don't have the recipe in front of me, but I want to say 3% Mandarin, 1% E&M, 0.5-1% Koolada.

I lowered the E&M so it isn't so overpowering of the Mandarin, but maintained that cold punch with some Koolada.

Mandarin is pretty strong unto itself, but definitely doesn't overpower the E&M by any means.

I'm familiar with the Grack Juice recipe :D Looks like an interesting rendition. Please let me know how it works out and if I need to kick myself for not ordering Eucalyptus mint last night!

From what I hear about it, try @ ~~0.5%~~ 1% and go from there.

Grack is my adv right now. It's so good. I just want it more medicinal tasting. Like I want it to be a grape fruity cough syrup. It's almost there.

I've tried different mixtures of single flavor TFA pear, but nothing seemed to work. My current ADV is: •Pear (TFA): 8.5 •Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (CAP): 4% •Sweetener: 1%

Not sure if the 1% Sweetener even has an affect, but I mixed up a 10ml bottle during testing and that batch made it into my 50ml "final product" bottle.

I need to pick up a bottle of Koolada for all these "smoothie" mixes I'm trying. :)

Pear @ 8.5%? It drowns out everything after about 5% for me. People's tongues are so weird...

Yesss, get Koolada. A couple of my friends ask for Koolada in almost every mix I make them.

One of my earlier batches kept it below 5%, but it didn't give me that pear bite that I was looking for. And your right, our own subjective senses are crazy with what notes each of us pick up on. If I'm using pear and something else, I usually have to keep it around 3%, else like you said, it's the only thing that comes through.

Just made my first bottles of 3mg strength juice. It was honestly really relaxing. Made 2x30ml of bronuts 2x30ml of rhodinite. Then after I felt more comfortable made a 30ml rocket man clone and 30ml of my own recipe I'm working on called candy splash. Made me laugh because if it was premium juice 4 bottles of 30ml juice would be in the £40's maybe more for 20mls of rocket man it's £10.99 and the clone is pretty dead on. So glad I got into this. It's such and fun and amazing hobby. The pluses is it saves you money too a degree. I do feel like I might be going down the rabbit hole of need more flavours.

The rabbit hole is real. My best friend and I are working on about 140 different flavorings (I think?) and we still make lists to buy more. "DIYing juice saves you money!" pull the other one, it's got bells on. Delicious, vapable bells. I want to make a christmas mix now. White chocolate and peppermint.

If you ever do, and I recommend it, reply with a recipe. : )

Start mixing 10-15 mL batches of single flavors for reviews and it really puts things into perspective how simple making good juice really is. If something is a bit boring, mix it with another sampler and you've got a pretty simple tasty juice. Plus, you get to contribute to the ever-growing list of flavor reviews. I've got close to 1000 mL of delicious juice in my cupboard between samplers and my larger batch recipes. It truly is a rewarding feeling.

It is a great feeling having that stash and never having to worry about when the next bottle will run out before the mad rush to the B&M at closing time. I have just received another £30 order of supplies which will make 540ml that will last me until the end of august.
