##ANY MENTION, DISCUSSION, OR SUGGESTION OF PURE NICOTINE; WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SATIRE OR OBVIOUS SARCASM WILL BE MET WITH SWIFT REMOVAL BY THE MODERATORS, AND A PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF 1 MONTH FOR THE USER.
Pure nicotine is not a joke, people. It is a highly volatile poison, and without the a proper(see: professional chemistry) lab can swiftly harm or kill you. We do not support the use of pure nicotine, and will not tolerate it's discussion in any instance. There are far too many beginners coming over, and I don't want it to come down on this subreddit if one of them sees a post about pure nicotine and decides to fumigate his or her 2 bedroom apartment. Take your questions or discussion to ~~/r/deeper_diy~~, or even better, /r/chemistry.
Consider this your only warning.
What about pure diacetyl?
Just to reinforce OP, I use nic mentioned in OP (slightly over the limit presented) in my lab. I was in a hurry making something for friends before leaving and got some on my arm (didn't notice). An hour later when I got home I was getting ready to go to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack, as the symptoms were very similar. Luckily I went to my friends who is a nurse and she asked if I had been in the lab, and knew how to treat it, which was a relief. Shit was scary.
Share how to treat it please. It could save someone to at least know.
My one experience with it I went for a very fast walk while drinking a ton of Gatorade.
All I wanted to do was lay down, but as far as I know, the only thing that can be done is to let it metabolise, and mild exercise and fluids were the only thing I could think of to help.
I have no clue if the walking did any good, but it seemed to help. The Gatorade didn't feel like it did anything except weigh me down, but in theory it should help flush toxins.
I didn't bother with the medics. I'd have peobably been better by the time I got seen anyway, but I'd also love to know what exactly a medical facility would do.
I am hesitant to do so, as I am not a medical professional, and it would kill me if someone was in the same situation, took my advice, and something bad happened.
If you suspect you are at risk of nicotine overexposure/poisoning, call 911, the poison center, or go to the ER.
Where's our village idiot? Someone tag him.
Care to explain, please?

Basically, because he has been DIYing for years, he bought pure nicotine to save a couple bucks and was going to dilute himself. Not a good idea.
This seems reasonable. In /r/woodworking, they don't let people discuss circular saws for the same reasons: they are dangerous tools that are used in the craft.
Wait, since when has /r/woodworking banned discussion of circular saws?
It didn't. That would be crazy because even though the saws are dangerous and have injured many, it's an important tool of the craft, and warrants discussion (which is often safety related).
My sarcastic point was that I don't think 'it's dangerous' is a good reason to bury our heads in the sand about it.
Ah, that was quite the dry delivery, had me reading /r/woodworking's sidebar and doing a search on various phrases trying to figure out what you were talking about... now I want my own wood working shop.
I'd argue there's a finer point to be made. The basis of banning 200+mg/ml nic isn't "it's dangerous" (after all 100-200mg/ml isn't exactly safe to drink) but that "it's unnecessarily dangerous."
Obviously the line between necessary/unnecessary is a fine one and somewhat a matter of opinion, but it is a more altruistic interpretation of their reasoning.
Using 20%+ nic solutions adds increasingly serious danger and razor thin margins for error without any benefit besides saving money.
This isn't an appropriate subreddit for discussion of maximum concentration chemicals. This is a subreddit about using diluted chemicals, and further diluting them to the point where they can be consumed.
The two subreddits that I linked in the OP, however, should be willing to discuss the handling and use of maximum concentration, extremely hazardous chemicals.
Isn't it dangerous to ban discussion? Isn't that like only allowing abstinence only sex ed? I'd rather that people have access to information and discussion about the dangers of highly concentrated nicotine and safety practices. Banning information like that could get people hurt.
And people talking about it casually makes them complacent with it.
No matter how you look at it, this isn't a place for discussion of pure nicotine. I didn't say to never buy pure nicotine, just that it won't be tolerated here. I even gave two subreddits where the discussion may be welcome. There are far too many impressionable newbies that come here for this to even be talked about in a negative light. No matter how many warnings we give, someone will inevitably take it as a challenge. By banning any discussion about it, I'm removing the subreddit from the chain, and sending those that are curious to a subreddits that would have more expertise and a better overall understanding than a bunch of armchair eliquid enthusiasts.
>No matter how you look at it, this isn't a place for discussion of pure nicotine.
If you look at this subreddit as a place of learning the hobby and craft of mixing e liquid, then this is the place for it.

Newcomers aren't going to see this post. They are going to see high concentration nicotine for sale and not know just how dangerous because we aren't allowed to discuss it here.

Armchair eliquid enthusiasts? We actually make eliquid. There's nothing armchair about that.
This is all the info you need
And that sounds a lot like abstinence only sex ed.
We're talking about a deadly poison here. All you need is one person to spark a question about pure nicotine and for one person to comment saying that they have "successfully" dealt with and used it before. Then someone may see that comment and think that they too can be successful in handling pure nicotine. That person could really hurt themselves all because of one idiot's comment about them using it successfully. Then we see in the news that a kid attempting to make his own ejuice dies from pure nicotine that he ordered online. Media catches wind of that and we're all fucked. It's better to not tolerate stupid questions about pure nicotine, show them this post, and then delete their post about pure nicotine.
200mg is the normal now in china and 100mg is becoming less common. I dont see why discussing nicotine strength is relevant. Weather you use 100mg or 200mg buy whatever is cheaper i guess.
So we can talk about 200mg if needed / wanted right?
I've seen some beginners thinking 100 mg/ml is pure nicotine, will that be handled in the same way? Or will they be given a chance to clarify if it seems they're confused?
I think this is a fantastic and sadly necessary rule, and with a little research the above situation probably wouldn't even happen - just curious how to respond if I see a question that seems...questionable.
Imo beginners who think that 100mg is pure should be properly educated in that thread, since reading the sidebar is a rare occurrence. I would imagine this rule applies to people intentionally and knowingly discussing or reccomending the usage of high concentrations.
That's along the lines of what I was thinking, I just figured that this modpost would be the best place to clarify what exactly the procedure should be. Do I report it ASAP or check if the OP thinks 100 mg/ml is pure nicotine first, and clear up any confusion if that's the case - that sort of thing.
I think that can be clarified within the post with a simple question if they don't specify a strength. Maybe a clarification/mandatory edit to the post along with a warning? They're new people usually, a slap on the wrist will fix most problems and if it keeps up then suspension from the sub.
This is what I think would be most effective - it's an understandable mistake, but the OP would need to address their mistake in an edit so that future beginners might not have to look as hard (not that its hard to find to begin with).
I just figured since this is the modpost on this rule update, it would be the appropriate place to clarify any questions on this subject.
Yeah, let's not discuss it in /r/Deeper_DIY either, I think. I know I won't be approving those posts. /u/InertiaCreeping can over-rule me, of course, but flavoring has been the focus so far, with just a few tangents off into nic chem (acid salts in eliquid-level concentrations.)
For what it's worth, the kids that post over there know that it's not to be messed with... kinda like, we don't need a rule, because it's unwritten?
Hope I'm making sense
I agree that as long as other groups don't publicize /r/Deeper_DIY as the appropriate place to discuss it, it's very unlikely to come up. (We're way more likely to get the "extract it yourself, with a process that's only a little more dangerous than cooking meth while smoking it" discussion.)
Alright, edited the OP.
Cheers!
/r/chemistry is better equipped to apply the multi-PhD interactive smack-down this really deserves, anyway.
Having once dripped a drop of 100mg/ml nic on bare skin above my glove, and not noticing it until my heart began to race, I hope the 200mg/ml people are using all the protection.
I posted on this few months ago and it disappeared rather fast, figured it was a rule but never saw it anywhere. I also believe my question was regarding 1000mg or 99%
