Hi all, I'm fairly new to DIY, I done a couple of recipes one I followed someone else's the other I just winged myself, both I'm proud to say came out successful. My question is I'd like to add some chocolate to a coffee recipe I have, but not sure if I should use TPA Double chocolate clear or CAP Glazed doughnut. I'm looking for a smooth chocolaty coffee flavour, similar to Mocha Javape by innevape. Can anyone help me choose which would be the better of the two ?
TFA Double Chocolate tastes like burnt dust, and CAP glazed doughnut tastes like playdough. I'd suggest getting a dulce de leche flavor, as almost all of them turn into a light, mocha flavor.
Thank you for your response, I use TPA Dulce de Leche @ 3%, I was looking for a way to boost the mocha flavour without loosing the coffee flavour. I'm very picky and have tried many, many coffee juice's over the past few years, and have yet to find one that hits my taste buds like my ADV. A friend/mixologist had mixed it up for me over three years ago and when I told him I was ready to try DIY he sent me the recipe for it. hmmmm, maybe I should just leave it the way it is. I mean why mess with an already great thing.
I like a combo of Flavourart Cocoa and Chocolate 1:1 .
Cap Glazed has no chocolate in it and TFA Chocolate is awful (IMO)
What is this "Cactus" flavour I'm seeing pop up in a few recipes lately ? What exactly does Cactus taste like ? I mean are y'all talking about the water (liquid) inside a desert like cactus ? or is it more like the sap of an aloe plant ? Sounds like something I would try mixing with kiwi and strawberries. Hmmm that sounds kinda good right there, beings I'm not sure what cactus taste like.

Bought some NY cheesecake from capella, vendor told me to let it steep for 2 weeks, I'd like to add blueberry extra from TFA, should I add it right away or put it together in a week or two and shake and vape?
I made 2 30ml bottles, one with 7% and one with 10%
Add it right away, it all needs to steep together.
7% is really pushing the limit for NY Cheesecake. I think it tastes funky over 4%. I would personally dilute both bottles in half, and add BB at 2-3% to one. If you can get TFA Sweet Raspberry, it goes great with NY at 5%.

Hey folks, looking to get my father-in-law off of his Kools. He's already had throat cancer and tried the patches and gum, but continues to smoke. Now his Oncologist wants to get him on Chantix. I bought him an Ego a long while ago and he used it a bit with some Caramel Apple at 0 nic (against my advice), but never did quit the smokes. Now that I've moved on to DIY juice I feel like I might be able to get him to quit if I can just get something to feel like his smokes and maybe one of them AIO kits (they seem simple enough for him to use).
Anyhoo, I was researching tobacco flavors through the great thread/searches/whatnot and just stumbled upon u/queuetue (no idea if I tagged him right or not) flavor notes on the Tobacco Express's Golden Virginia with bitter wizard and menthol reminiscent of an analogue Kool.
I have FLV Flue Cured (which is an excellent tobacco BTW) but does not remind me of an analogue and TFA RY4 Double (which I just got and mixed up yesterday) but tastes like a wet toothpick covered in caramel (hopefully the steep will fix this).
My plan is to order the Virginia/bitter/menthol and mix at 8/1-2drops per 10ml/1% respectively. I have never smoked a menthol cigarette before (30 years of Marlboro/Viceroy/Pall Mall) so not sure on the menthol strength other than what other folks use it at. I also have Koolada, but don't know if that feels the same as a straight menthol.
All help and recommendations are appreciated.
Over in the monthly recipe thread, there's a recipe for an Apple Tobacco that may help...Tobacco flavors are a world of their own. Basically, Ive found that mixing two together, a light and a dark-gives the best result. For example, mix 6% of your RY4 and add 1% of your other tobacco.
Thank you sir! I just went over and read the post on the frozen apple tobacco recipe and that might just work. I never thought of mixing the two tobaccos I have to try and get a more analogue taste, but after researching actual menthol cigarettes blends it seems that flue cured is a main component. The caramels in the RY4 Double will play well with the Apple also to get him his caramel apple taste he wanted and the Flue Cured should provide a nice tobacco taste. I do have FW Candy Cane and Wintergreen maybe for that menthol kinda taste and Koolada for the cooling effect. Gonna head to the mixing chambers and try to whip up something. It's ma'am to you- whippersnapper! LOL- no worries- Heres the thing with tobacco...the stronger (darker) will always be prominent- since its stronger we use LESS- and pair it with something it can shine against- its like the flavor equivalent of photographing against a light or a dark background- if the background is too dark-the light gets swallowed...you're on the right track though- do some pairings with light/darks- you'll see what I mean!
I ordered nicotine about a month ago. Small bottle from Nude Nicotine. Being my first time ordering supplies and not doing enough research I guess, I didn't know to store it in the freezer. It's been in kitchen cabinet for the last month. Will it be ok? It is now in the freezer
Prob ok. Only way to be sure is to try a mix, see if it's harsh. Is it very discolored? Heat and air are the biggest concerns. The higher the concentration then the faster it will oxidize. Here is a good read if you haven't already. The storage section will be helpful if you do buy a larger bottle.

I had no idea what to do 1 1/2 months ago, I read the sidebar once completely over and once I started ordering and start mixing I referred back to the sidebar for every step I took. In the 1 1/2 months I've been doing this I have come up with 3 really good juices and another 2 that are vapable. The first mix will seem intimidating but once you dive in its so simple you'll be wondering what took you so long. I suggest mixing by weight, it's super clean and imo easier to do
I'm a little whelmed. Not overwhelmed. I've been buying just menthol flavored 50/50 18%. Going to give mixing myself a go. Really I just need to know what % of flavor base I should be using for it to be very mentholly but not quite straight vicks. Flavor I've been using is called "Extreme Ice" mixed by a local shop.
Not a menthol fan myself, but FW Extreme Ice gets some mentions. Seems to be pretty potent, start at 2%, taste and go up slowly if necessary.
If this is all you vape, you are about to save some cash (well, in the long run anyway).
Get some menthol crystals or menthol concentrate, some EM or Cotton Candy and some TFA Koolada.
In a 10ml bottle mix:
1ml liquid menthol or 4 or 5 larger menthol crystals
3 drops of Koolada
.5ml Cotton Candy or EM
Fill the rest of the bottle with PG, shake and wait till it dissolves.
NOTE: It will not dissolve (crystals) in VG
Mix your eliquid using 5% of the mix to start and adjust.

If you tried everything that the people suggested to you in your previous post about tobacco flavors, then I think you're just going to have to experiment or experiment more for yourself. Buy all the tobacco flavors and lock yourself in your mixing area for a while. Also, keep in mind that tobacco flavors generally require a much longer steep than most flavorings so don't jump to conclusions without a proper steep.
Tobacco flavors are a whole other world. There are so many, but I can tell you, TFA does not have the best available, except for RY4, DK Tab or 555. You might want to spread your wings a bit. I think Hangsen has some of the best tobacco flavorings, Inawera has some hits and some misses, Flavourart tobaccos are great, but not easy to work with, and Vaping Zone SC tobaccos are wonderful.
Cheers, ya I've found that TFA baccos aren't stellar. I have some INW which are nice. Hangsen, FA definitely next up on my list. Never heard of Vaping Zone SC, will check em out!

Noob question. I'm used to mixing standalone flavors but would like to mix two or more flavors together. Question being, say I know the recommended %s for TFA flavors, I want to mix two, one is recommended at 12% and the other is at 3, how do you come up with the math to input it into ejuice me up calculator or do you just input the %s for each as they're listed?

Let me suggest a different way. The single thing that should help you the most is for you to try individual flavors standalone, at varying %. Suggested recommendations are fine and all, but my 5% of x flavor may not be the same for your tastes. For more detailed info, search for a recent "modest monday" post here, by /u/vurve. (Sorry but I cant link it for you atm).
Going thru that process is slow, and a PITA, but it is the single most helpful thing that I can recommend. As you work your way thru all your flavors, you should begin to know intuitively which ones pair together, and at what %. Start with 2 flavors, fine tune those to your liking, maybe you'll think "hey, a small amount of this third flavor might be a good addition.
I know I have prob deviated away from what you are asking, but I hope this helps some!
Bottom line: Don't depend on manufacturers recommendations, but instead, find out what works for you.
Here's what I do...mix my single flavor tester, get it where I like it. Think- Hmm...maybe some XXX in there? If its a flavor I have already tested and know the strength of, add it- if not-make another single flavor mix. You can blend them together, too-it's a lot of trial and error, but the point of mixing single flavors is to get an idea of what you like at what strengths, etc. You're actually building a flavor vocabulary doing this. After awhile, you'll learn the best strengths for each flavor-or you think you will...you'll still just have to try. It's why I do testers in 10 and 15ml.
I've been mixing for over 4 years and I can still screw up a mix with the best of them!
I have been wondering the same thing for months now. Single flavor mix is always higher that what you see in a recipe. Example FA Fuji is great in mixes at 2% from recipes I found. However when I made my own with strawberry and some cream for texture/mouth feel.... the apple was nowhere to be found. Like how does that work??? Mixing has given me a great appreciation for the people that post recipes here and ELR.
Okay so I'm a little late to this but;
My current living situation doesn't allow me to have nicotine store in the freezer.
What are my other options?
I have thinking of finding a pre-mixed base like 90/10 VG/PG with nicotine added, and just adding flavors.
To be honest nicotine scares the shit out of me.
Nudenicotine nude armor v2 or v3, or you can purchase any glass bottle of nicotine and a can of argon wine preserver from amazon. After splitting your nicotine into smaller bottles, top them off with a light puff of argon and seal them up. Argon is inert and heavier than oxygen, so prevents oxidation.
I am new to diy. I did my homework and read all the info in the sidebar, ordered supplies, and just got done mixing up 5ml samplers of the flavors I ordered so I can try them before I start mixing. The one question I cannot seem to find an answer to is how long I should let them steep before trying them. I got all fruits and creams. I know creams generally take longer than fruits, but should I be giving them a week, 3 days, a month? Thanks in advance!
Try them right after mixing. Then set them aside for a few days and try them again. If you find yourself wanting to vape all of it, make extras so that you can try them steeped while vaping the fresh juice. There is no guideline for steep times, it's really what you prefer.
I use something called the 'fuggedaboutit' drawer...it was suggested to me when I first started mixing and its never failed me. Throw a mix in there and go vape something else until you remember its in there. Or yeah...nurse it and check it every day...the first way has worked well for me!
I go a bit extreme with it, but I test my flavors with no steep, an overnight steep, a three day steep, a week steep, and a two week steep to see how the flavor and mouth feel changes over time. Its a bit more work but it means I know exactly how the flavor changes and sort of what to expect when I mix them together.
I need some guidance. Could someone recommend a good starter kit and flavorings and or a definitive list of supplies from a reputable source. I cam completely new to diy and have nothing supply wise. Thank you!
If you haven't already, read the sidebar and beginner's guides in their entirety before purchasing anything.
After that, there is a list of recommended first order flavors in the sidebar.
To find a vendor, there is a verified vendors link in the sidebar, with each vendor having their own review thread linked to their entry in the VV page.
My advice is don't get a kit. Read botboy's guide to mixing by weight on the sidebar. Read the rest of the sidebar. Decide if mixing by weight is for you. It seems to be the preferred method here and I'm glad it's the route I took. Order the recommended scale or equivalent. Pick two or three recipes that carry a high rating here and/or on ELR. Order the flavors to make those recipes from BullCityVapor, GremlinDIY, or ECX, all three sell sizes 30ml and under with drip tops so you don't need syringes. Order PG, VG, and nic from one of those vendors or any other vendor on the sidebar. Be glad you didn't get a kit with random stuff you won't use.
The downside to this method is not every vendor carries everything you might need or want, but I still think it's worth it versus the alternative.
I tried mixing a strawberry limeade juice. Im still pretty low of flavor variety and only have keylime(tfa) for lime flavor and strawberry(tfa) and sweet strawberry(cap) for strawberry flavors. I started with
•Tfa strawberry 6%
•Tfa keylime 5%
I have made other recipes using those percentages (haven't used those flavors together before though) and the flavors came though well. As a shake and vape the keylime way over powered the strawberry. In a 50ml bottle added .75ml sweet strawberry (cap) and now the flavor is way to muted. Any suggestions on percentages? It's going to be a bit before I can order again but should have some stawberry ripe coming in a few days
I got nic from Vape Clarity. Smooth nic and not overly expensive, I did a lot of research before picking them, I can't compare them to any other companies but my experience is good and will be using them exclusively. Most calculators will tell you the exact weight needed. It's almost fool proof. As for Flavors I'm prob not the right one to ask, I've only made 5 Flavors and let them sit a week before trying them
