My Storage Solution
submitted almost 9 years ago by CrazyCanuck007

I have been mixing now for about 3 months and smoke free for 8 months. I doubt I would ever have a recipe worthy to share with the community so I thought i would share my solution for storing flavorings. I used bamboo drawer organizers from Walmart, a couple of hinges and a latch. I think they are worth sharing.

I love the dowel idea. I built this.

After drilling over 80 holes, staining and putting three coats sealant. The dowel idea seems a lot more practical

Great job!

Same to you! What I like about your design, is you don't have the dowels getting in the way of the labels. Some of my label details get hidden.

I like to think that when you're making a new flavour, you just go apple bobbing for bottles.

Oh wow that's pretty flippin cool. I need to start organizing my stuff better. How much would you say it all ran for the storage?

Probably cost me about $50 Canadian/box. So, whats that $10 US/box lol. A little pricey but worth the time it saves to find flavourings. (insert sarcasm: The cost of one 30ml "premium" juice)??
It actually takes 4 of the drawer organizers to make one storage box. Two of them are taken apart for the shelves and the added side pieces. The reason for the added side pieces is for the shelf dado and the holes for the wooden dowels.
The one in the back is/was a bamboo cutlery box. It turned out OK but really wasn't worth the hassle.

Right on, not too bad for some super classy storage!

Very, very nice, portable and attractive, but the price is high. These drawer organizers are $20 each in the US. Even if you only needed 2 of them for a box, that's still more than I am willing to pay.

I just checked the Walmart (US) site and they are currently on sale for $12.80 TOTALLY BAMBOO 6x15 Draw Organizer. Still expensive and I can't believe they are cheaper in Canada wtf?

I was looking at cheap storage for my ~~120+~~ 120mL+ bottles as my volume of juice exceeds buying in ~~30s~~ 30mL's other than to test flavours.

The Hyllis shelf from Ikea caught my eye: www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/art/00278578/ $15 right now! Might pickup a few.

> Hyllis shelf from Ikea

I don't see how this is going to work.

This holds about 60 30ml bottles.

So did you modify anything or do you buy it all ready to go from Walmart?

You will need to modify. 2 drawer organizers for the halves and 2 for the insides. This will make one storage box. You will need to carefully take 2 of them apart. It's not to difficult and take your time. Once there apart its just a matter of measuring and cutting. For a clean looking finish you should use a table saw, chop saw and a drill press. A hand drill will work also. I dry fit everything first then just used a quick setting epoxy and some clamps. If there is a demand, I could take some step by step pictures of the next build.
