Testing

Steep Time/6 weeks % Used/ 5
PG/VG 50/50 Nic%/0

Mouth Feel

Sharp and heavy on the pallet, dense and smooth on the nose really dense for a fruit flavor 6 out of 10.

Throat Hit 4/10

Flavor Properties

Sweet tart lemon flavor, with a hint of that hard candy sweetness.

Relatable Flavors

Lemon drop martini, also reminds me of Lemonhead candies.

Off Flavors N/A

Position In The Recipe

Great part of a complex fruit base, also could be used as an accent to cream flavors providing contrast and making them pop. Can be used as a top note as well, and surprisingly good single flavor mix.

Pairings

Citrus fruits, berries, creams, tobacco's, bakeries, and vanilla flavoring.

Rating

90/100

Notes

>Sicilian Lemons are the best in the world, large, juicy and with a unique citrus tang. The Southern Mediterranean sun and rich Sicilian soil combine to produce a flavour that once tried, is never forgotten. Lemon Sicily lives up to that reputation and is delightfully refreshing to the palate.

I'm a big fan of the INW lemon flavors for lemonades and fruit or fruit + cream mixes, but FA Lemon Sicily seems to get along so much better with bakeries than other lemons. Anyone else noticed this?

I totally agree! My only exception to this would be FE Lemon. Fantastic in bakeries imho.

I can't get FA Lemon Sicily to taste right in bakeries. I've tried it in crunchy cereal, mixed it with Biscuit and cookie for a lemon cookie. Something is just really off to me.

Have you gotten any other lemons to work in pastries?

It's the only lemon I have unfortunately. I plan to get in on dat FE Lemon very soon though.

I first thought "5%, HOLY COW" but then I see you let it steep for 6 weeks. Did you try it at 5% standalone right after mixing?

In my experience this flavor mellows out quite a bit over time. I made a couple different lemon cookie recipes with it and it was insanely strong at 2.5% right away, and after the cookie/creamy flavorings took over during the steep, it was decently pleasant, but I feel it was still lacking some juiciness.

I did try it right after mixing and was like lemon flavored turpentine. Stuck it in the back of the box then totally forgot about it, 6 weeks was longer than I intended to Let It Go, but I think it might be the perfect steep time for this flavoring.

FA Sicilian Lemon taste like ripe lemon to me, it like a sweet limoncello, I prefer INW lemon is a brighter and sharp lemon but they do combine well together.

Lol. Well my comment was in response to your dislike for FA Lemongrass, comparing it to licking a Pledge nozzle haha. I said didn't get the "Pledge nozzle" flavor (or any other lemon-scented household cleaners) from FLV Lemongrass. I thought it was pretty spot-on compared to the real thing (if you've ever had lemongrass in food). It reminds me of a lemon head minus sweetness/sugar. It's not tart at all either. And there is a very slight woodsy, floral note that may be off-putting to some. I kind of dig it as a "seasoning" in recipes.

Yeah I tested it first at 5% and then at 2.5 way way too strong. I don't necessarily dislike the flavor but if you're looking for Lemon Pledge bump it up to 5% that's dead on.

This is very late, but I want to let it be known that I threw FA Lemon Sicily @ 0.5% and FLV Lemonade @ 2% in a mix and it tastes a lot like Fruit Loops.

If anyone besides OP reads this, please let me know. I'm interested to see how many people are actually using the Flavor Reviews.
