Mouth Feel- Very creamy mouthfeel, though light on the pallette would rate it 4/10 in terms of density
Throat Hit- almost non-existent 1/10
Flavor Properties- Nutty, Almond, Creamy, Buttery, Milky, light crunch, and a hint of cherries on the exhale
Relatable Flavors- Tastes a bit like a very creamy almond milk, I've never had real marzipan before, the cherry taste is almost nutty, hard to describe.
Off Flavors- None to note.
Position In The Recipe- Probably best used as an accent, I believe this flavor could be used to elevate a number of different flavor profiles. Though I must say vaping it standalone is pretty damn good, so maybe it could be the star of a recipe.
Pairings- Milks, Cereals, Nuts especially Almond, Cookies, custards, creams.
Notes- Very delicious. I think this could be used to elevate cereal flavors that don't quite seem to hit the mark on the milk. This flavor in combinations with cream bases really helps pull together a convincing "milk" profile. I never understood why FW Hazelnut was always added to cereal flavorings, I thought it imparted a strange taste that took the vape away from a convincing milk profile. Try INW Marzipan in cereal or milky recipes instead.
In addition, I think this flavor in combination with FA Almond is just divine. If needing a very nice almond note in a recipe, say for an almond cookie try the combo.
Thank you for this! I was wondering if I should pick up the INW or FA. I ended up going for the FA since I couldn't find any reviews on INW, but now I can determine if this one would have been a better choice and/or if it would make a good addition to a flavor arsenal that already has FA Marzipan!
Neither of them taste like actual marzipan to me. FA's tastes like candied almonds. INW's has a much stronger maraschino cherry note. It might even be more useful as a non-cough-syrup cherry flavor than as an almond paste flavor. But, I haven't tried combining it with FA Almond yet, that might be awesome. I'll test that out soon because I've got a couple almond cookie recipes on my list of things to make and one of them calls for that combo.
FA marzipan is exactly what marzipan should taste like, sweet sugar cake made with bitter almond flavor, for me is one of the best replication of the real thing, I know where the hype with Inawera marzipan comes from, but honestly FA is wayyyyy better.
FA Marzipan is freaking delicious. I loved the bottle of standalone flavor I made to test it, went through it like Whitney through a bag of crack. I just thought it tasted more like Jordan almonds than marzipan. Which to my tastebuds, is a good thing. Maybe I've just not had good marzipan though. INW's I can see being super useful, but it's not an accurate representation at all and I'm having trouble getting through the bottle of single flavor I made.
I use this flavoring in my Cereal Marshmallow Strawberry Milk. It gives the milk that authentic "dairy" flavor. It's excellent.
Did you ever end up trying it with FA Marzipan?
THIS. I ended up buying FA when INW marzipan was really hard to find. I've been vaping CMSM EXCLUSIVELY since January, and just wondering if it can be even better by swapping out the marzipan. Haven't seen ANYBODY comment about the difference yet.
"...the cherry taste is almost nutty, hard to describe."
I get that, too, and it took me a bit to remember where I'd tasted it before. My mom used to make these little star-shaped drop cookies at Christmas with a maraschino cherry in the center, and it reminds me a lot more of that than an actual marzipan. It tastes like the part of the cookie where the red maraschino syrup baked into it.
Really at home at about 0.5% in /u/coop34's fantastic Caramel Almond Custard, posted in last month's thread.
That cherry note is also present in TFA Pistachio, and I absolutely love it. IIRC, it's a compound called benzaldehyde. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone with more knowledge.
I just got this in the mailand have yet to triy it, I have no clue what marzipan is but it was called for in a cereal recipe, to me it smells like a jar of maraschino cherries which I find to be vomit inducing. The creamy almond your getting from it makes me feel a lot better about trying it. good review
