TFA Pistachio is amazing
submitted over 9 years ago by unknownreddit

So I looked around and couldn't find much about TFA Pistachio, or recipe's, but I had to post and say it's amazing. Like really. I ordered about 30 flavors and have mixed a few good blends, then finally tried the Pistachio Cream tonight and it's absolutely delicious. It only steeped for 3 days, and will probably be better in a week or even 2.

TFA Pistachio smells just like Pistachio ice cream by default, and would probably be good by itself... but I added a little bit to spruce it up and even it out.

70% VG - 30% PG blend

9% TFA Pistachio

1% Sweet Cream (maybe a little too much, as it's creamy already) mainly added so it would vape smooth n buttery.

.5% Ethyl Maltol (aka cotton candy) probably wasn't needed at all.

I have a sub ohm tank and vape with 3mg nic, and this turned out great. Even my fiance was impressed. However, for some odd reason the after taste in my mouth smelled like beer. She asked if I had a beer after I kissed her. Said no. Must have been the juice. Weird, I know.

TL;DR Try mixing up a batch of TFA Pistachio if you like them, or the ice cream, as it's a smooth creamy delicious vape you'll love. A few tweaks and this might be my new ADV.

I've been on the tfa pistachio train this week and think it's fantastic. I can't get enough of my pistachio praline.

tfa pistachio 5%
tfa caramel 2%
tfa pie crust 1%
tfa graham cracker clear 1%

Creamy goodness.

Vaping the remix right now. It's really good, but feels like I could go higher than 2% pistachio.

Ok i found Charlie's Pry4... Sounds very unique.

How strong is the tobacco flavor? I don't think I'll like that much.. is that for old smokers to get that tobacco?

I did order a few other charlie flavors just for fun.

anyone also got the FA Pistachio who can say how they compare? I've been subbing FA for the TFA in a bunch of recipes as it's what I have. sounding like the TFA is maybe sweeter and creamier than the straight up (and strong) nuttiness of the FA.

TFA = Sweet creamy pistachio pudding/ice cream

FA = more like dry, raw unsalted pistachios

thanks for the confirmation. i'd subbed the FA in a first batch of diyordie PRY4 for example, can't remember the % til I look at my notes but ended up with a stronger pistachio bite than I think the recipe intended and I thought I was going fairly light on it when I estimated. may have to pick up some TFA.

If you want the same exact taste as PRY4, you can't sub the FA one for TFA. TFA Pistachio is pretty much one of a kind, can't imagine a replacement for it, with the exception of maybe lorann, which has food coloring and is unsafe to vape.

My thought's exactly. With FA Pistachio, you can literally taste the shell. It was strange at first, and a little off-putting. But I've had luck taking advantage of this realistic, dry shell note in certain recipes. Specifically tobaccos. It's also good with something like TFA Peanut Butter at about .25/.5%. It sort of pulls it away from that creamy, jarred PB (that you lick off your finger at 2am in your underwear in the light of the refrigerator) and into the PB you get at your local farmer's market (that you have to stir vigorously for like 5 minutes and makes you wonder why you bought this shit....until you taste it).

I made 2 mixes- one with Soho and TFA Pistachio
One with FA RY4 and FA Pistachio
They are both good...I seem to pick up the all FA one more often...all 4 of those flavors are keepers though, and probably wouldn't go to waste... FA is more realistic though, IMHO

yeah I've been using the FA Pistachio in similar ways it's a keeper, 1% seems plenty though it's easy to overdo it in the mix. If you like Soho, RY4 and Pistachio then give FA Glory a try it's one of FA's most useful tobaccos. really tasty sweet nutty tobacco that works great with any of those.

Another one I use with those is a little bit of FLV Peanut Butter, 1% or less is a great accent with Glory, Soho, RY4 combos.

I love Glory...I'm a tobacco fiend...hmmm- Glory and Pistachio...with a little merangue...great idea!

HAS ANYBODY MADE A BAKLAVA RECIPE? OMG

I was thinking like... 6% TFA Pistachio, 2% INW Biscuit, .25% FA Honey, 1.5% FLV Custard or 1% FA Vienna Cream or 1% FA Whipped Cream

Probably have better luck with FA Pistachio for Baklava; it's a more realistic pistachio where TFA's is more like the sweetened, "American" dessert type pistachio.

Now you're making me want this. Btw, one of the key ingredients in real food baklava, is cardamom. and yes FA makes that flavor..... ( i have it, as of yet unused, but not pistachio i dont think)

I am thinking of the same thing.. dont have a recipe yet... but it is one of my favorite tastes.. :)

I might have to try it

i think FA torrone could work out pretty well in a baklava recipe.it has those sticky, sweet properties and a nutty taste as well.not sure of the bakery base though.cap sugar cookie and INW biscuit might work

This sounds awesome! Will order soon, i want to try it with a touch of cardamom, cinnamon and a smidgen of honey - looking for a baklava-esk flavor

Does it really compare to authentic pistachio ice cream or does it rather have a candy like taste as in jello pistachio pudding.

by unknownredditover 9 years ago

Never had the jello. Tastes like the Hagen daaz Pistachio to me

So I've still been occasionally vaping my Pistachio with a touch of sweet cream. Had the last of it tonight (long steep) and it was incredible.

Any recommendations to add to Pistachio. Was thinking green tea, but not sure. Any ideas?
